People have longed criticised Oasis for taking things from the Beatles but when they get it right like they do on this song it really is a beautiful thing.
Exactly. And even Noel has said they have many influences in their music, but the journalists harp on the Beatles thing because it’s easy.

I love that Dave loves the band i grew up with as a teenager. The fact he comes fro America makes it so interesting to me as they were not that big after morning glory. Thank you both for this channel. I love it!

Yes! Maybe the best 'obscure' Oasis song for me. It's simple yet magical.
@JimmiBiscuit yeah that probably top of the obscure oasis tunes but others run close. Take Me Away, Getting Older, Carry Us All, Thank You For The Good Times and mid Be Here Now album tracks I'd throw in there too, Girl In A Dirty Shirt and I Hope, I Think I Know

I think the best follow up to this song, especially how Dave loved this one, is I'm Outta Time (if not done already). I always think of that and this song as some kind of pairing.

How did I miss this gem? I seen them live and considered myself a big fan but didn't know this was even a thing. Mega.

Oasis did the same thing with play back on Top Of The Pops(tv show) for Roll With It in the 90s, noel mimed the vocals of liam and Liam mimed noels guitar playing
Hope someday he react to "To Be Where There’s Life" and "Shakemaker".
It´s great to see when a person gets Oasis, people usually get it or hate it, no middleground.

Love Dave's knowledge and appreciation and your picks, was thinking maybe just yesterday that Dave should respond to this, when I was singing it while cleanin up the kitchen (it wasn't playing, I just sing Oasis songs while clearing up the kitchen, different bands for different rooms it seesms). Weird ..and cool coincidence!

Top of the Pops in the UK made bands mime songs for a long time. You should check out Oasis "performing" Roll With It. Noel mimes Liam's vocals up front while Liam "plays" lead guitar and mimes Noel's backing vocals. It's great.
It was either Madonna or pussycat dolls that kept this from being number 1 in the uk , can’t remember which one but I do remember it being some bag of pop shite. Oasis in 2005 had somewhat of a chart renaissance, their previous 2 singles released from Don’t believe the truth “ Lyla” and “ The Importance Of Being Idle” both went to number 1. As did the album but the albums always did.
I've never heard them play it live. It was t.v shows they mimed it. Once on top of the pops they swapped places noel mimed singing while liam mimed playing guitar 😆
Dave it's a huge shame Oasis never did this live in concert a missed opportunity in so many ways Id love to ask Noel or Liam why as i believe it would of been a show stopper the fans would of just ate up !

This song was actually released in 2005 but was based on a demo called “It’s A Crime” which was leaked in 1999. They never did it live, think it would have killed Liams voice in 2005 😂
Try the song “Bag It Up” from their last ever studio album, Dave will like the drums 👌
I think it's one of only 3 Oasis song's where they both sing different sections of the song.
Good version to choose. I think they cut out the second Liam verse from the radio single version which annoyed me!
very pretty. At first the tune reminded me of that new Beatles tune, this song is a whole helluva lot better than that one, though. Classic and spare instrumentation. You, together with many other people have suggested so many songs from that concert. Maybe even every song individually, it has been a popular request. So yes, you as in you but also you as in you all, I guess.
If you want a good example of bands being annoyed that they cannot play live, watch smells like teen spirit on top of the pops. They could not play instruments live but Kurt was allowed to sing, he made a mockery out of it.
Amazing song! Always love hearing new Oasis songs and I can definitely hear the Beetles and George Harrison psychedelic influence which I really enjoy from them!

Just checked the UK Charts official page and it looks like it was kept off the top spot by Pussycat Dolls - Stickwitu. So that’s a little taste of what the landscape of UK music was like back then. The rest of the top 10 isn’t easy reading either tbh.

Wikipedia says the song was written in 1999. They could be wrong.
@@samechick 100% wrong. They didn't release music in 1999. Don't believe the truth album was 2005. Was my favourite Oasis album.
She’s saying they written it in 1999, which they did.
It was released in 2005, but Noel wrote it many years prior.
