I thought I'd heard it all by them till this landed last week or whenever it was? Liam's early falsetto alone makes this the complete version of Columbia.

Dirty shoegaze, psychedelic rock w a house groove……great tune! Dave, I think it’s called “Columbia” bc Noel was snorting lots of yao at the Hacienda and then he wrote this song.

You hit the nail on the head with the dancey vibe. A lot of their early songs were stolen from the hacienda dance movement in the early 90’s.

Dance indie sound of this mix here came i feel from happy Mondays who predate oasis as a manchester band and created this sound along with similar manchester bands of the time around 89. Check out wrote for luck happy mondays, commercial reign inspiral carpets, fools gold stone roses. Said eleswhere, indie dance from rhe hacienda period.

    Great version..
I love the early melodic Liam.
Rumour has it that Columbia was written by Chris Griffiths from the band The Real People, with Liam & Bonehead contributing with the chorus, Noel has his own story of how he wrote it, but i believe Chris had a lot to do with it, they helped Oasis out in the early days as oasis would record in their studio.
Their influence shines through on a quite a few Definitely Maybe tracks.
Noel definitely stole Rockin Chair which he later was forced to credit Chris on.
