Thickmin 4 (or Pikmin 4 Thickmin Edition) is a mod of Pikmin 4 that aims to provide a unique gameplay experience for Pikmin 4 by making every enemy massive in size. Enemy AI is also adjusted along with other various stats to increase the difficulty. Other game adjustments include: Respawning enemies (3 days), Pikmin rebalancing, Oatchi nerfs, Shop readjustments, providing late game items early, and much more!

I’ve played through this mod up through hero’s hideaway and it makes the game so much more fun because it adds actual difficulty to a game that was such a cakewalk before. My only problem is that the Horned Canon Beetle in the hero’s hideaway is too big for even yellow and winged Pikmin to be thrown into his hole, so he can’t be killed for his treasure and I’m stuck at 99%
Try using an ice bomb to freeze him and then wailing on him with your pikmin or bomb rocks
The ice negates the armor

Pikmin 4 is probaby my favourite game, and definitely my favourite Pikmim game, but this is one thing that it was missing. Pikmin 3 spoiled us with several massive bosses, and Pikmin 4's bosses are mostly just unimpressive by comparison.
I get that they were following the Pikmin 2 framework, which gives much more flexibility for reusing boss enemies in a variety of environments, but a few of them definitely would have felt more boss-like if they were doubled in size.

So I’ve never modded my switch or done any of that fancy stuff to it, but would I have to do all of that technical stuff and mod my switch and risk being banned to play to mod? Or are there methods to mod specific games with addons like this? I really just want this and the remove auto lock mod but not really wanted to risk everything 😅
