Hi there, my daughter(6yrs old) and I both really enjoy your channel. I’ve never commented before because we always watch on the TV, but after all the time I could tell you put into this latest video, I felt I should. I really appreciate all the research and information you give, especially on the vintage and/or overseas families and sets. And all of the comparisons you include(totally agree with you about the lack of painted detail on recent sets). We also get a lot of inspiration from you for our setups. I don’t do permanent dioramas because my daughter plays with all of our critters. It’s great to see videos from someone who, like me, collects With their children.

Thank you!! I've gotten more restrained I think since more people started watching my videos (I used to not overthink things); in the last two months I've filmed enough for a half dozen different videos but keep thinking they aren't interesting enough. This one took weeks to finally finish with how busy life was, and I wasn't on YT much during that time. I would like to be a lot less sporadic, I just need to figure out how to strike a good balance so it's not "all or nothing" if that makes sense! And thank you for your ongoing support!! ❤

I really need to keep collecting calico critters but I don’t have a lot of space for sets so my collection will mainly be focused on the critters! I’m also going to start a calico critters series on my channel I wasn’t fond of my last series but I guess my subscribers were so I think I’m going to do the same concept but with a different critter family but I need to find the perfect family that I will love to keep up with or maybe each week I can do a different family?

Loved seeing this update for your whole collection! I was going to ask if Bella was interested in "playing" with the critters and then you showed poor mama Kangaroo's ear! I have to put a rubber band round the door handles to the room with my collection to keep my cat out or she'll play being Godzilla and then steal things 😂
For your Wildwoods, I just took a look at mine and they have the metal poppers on their clothes and I know mine are first release Tomy as they're from childhood. I also took a look at my Snowwarren's as I know they're also Tomy as again from my childhood and they had moved to velcro by that point (early 90s) so with that in mind I'd say there's a good chance your Wildwood's are the older version as I don't think the metal closings were around for long!
Thank you!! Yes Bella is very much like Godzilla Cat, except she can’t get on the tables- but if one drops, uh oh! She also got 3 tuxedo cats - which I ended up replacing - a tiny “ghost” baby bunny, and a Crème. Thankfully, nothing too valuable. My husband replaced the kangaroos because he saw how bummed I was, but I couldn’t bring myself to throw out the mom, so I sent the new family to my niece. And I kind of like that she has a battle scar!
Regarding the Wildwoods, that is great news! They were from KobeeJapan, the listing stated they were early, and that store is knowledgeable about releases. But they came in the pink boxes, which may have been from 03. But it sounds like the button snaps are a good sign they are older! Maybe the date for the pink boxes is incorrect, or they were swapped into those boxes. I wish the critter community was as big as the Lego one, we would have a lot more (and better) info online to solve these mysteries!

If we had even half as much info at our disposal as lego or star wars or other similar toy fandoms we'd be set! It's so difficult to find things out with such limited sylvanian sources available 😞

I have most of the families in my collection- the cottontail rabbits and marguerite rabbits first and the deer and red pandas - I think I have about 120 figures and homes and stores. I have the border collies too
My favorite's are the penguins and the fennec fox family.

I have two different kangaroo families, different ears.
Don't bother the length of your video, it couldn't be long enough for me!
There are some sets sold in US of UK or Japan, but not in the Netherlands, Europe.
I haven't got so much room, your collection is a real town, so lovely.
My shops, restaurants, hospital, dentist, school, crèche, playground, fair etc stand in my closet with glass doors.
I cann't build high enough. Only two shops or restaurants on eachother...
You have the hamburger car, but not the fish & ships and the icecream same model.
I have them all 3 but no space enough...
I love the sealor-rabbits, would like to buy them for my lighthouse. Oh and the moles and bulldogs I don't have.
I love to see when all houses, stores are fully decorated with furniture and small items.

I have heard in Holland and other countries like Australia, the selection is much smaller, and ordering internationally is much more costly than in the USA. That’s a shame, but it sounds like you’ve been able to collect a lot anyway! ❤️

I actually kind of like the “Easy Buy” outfits, they’re cute for how simple they are. (And with how feminine or at least androgynous the overalls are, it’s easier to make them a set of 2 moms and pretend Sylvanian Families are more diverse than they are 😅) My main issue with the “Easy Buy”s is that, at least in America, they don’t seem very easy to buy at all! They’re difficult to find, and when I do find them, they don’t seem to cost any differently (if not, cost more) than the regular families.
Yes, it's a matter of taste I suppose, I just prefer the more complex/detailed outfits. And with EB, for me, it's not just the clothes, they also have simpler coloration and parts, like the molded-on tails. And I totally agree - in the US they have very few and they don't cost any less!! ("per doll" anyway) So for me, I feel the regular ones are a better overall value. EB were made for other markets that don't have a high demand for expensive SF sets, there were many earlier ones we never got, and we probably won't get most of the new ones either. But weirdly, USA "EB" families are not distinguished in any way from standard ones. That could make customers think the dolls are changing when really they are just two different product types. They are still adorable though, I tend to be too critical, and I admit that without my collector hat on the Polar Bear's overalls are very cute!! 🥰

There are 2 sets: The Flora Lop Rabbit Family, and the Flora Lop Rabbit Flower Care Set! Their ears are down which I thought is just too cute! I pre-ordered from The Koebe Japan Museum Store.

I also make customs of the buildings (I paint them in our favourite colours light turquoise & dark yellow).

I am 40, a tad older, and also have in the neighborhood of 300 figures, so we are similar in many ways! Except I haven’t dabbled in custom buildings, I have the desire but no talent, but some day I will try. BTW, I have tried counting, several times, but I can’t seem to get an accurate count. I will try again soon, and more carefully! My last attempts came out to like 285 and 315 or something, and I have since added a few. ❤️

We love so much the older sets that are even harder to get here in Germany, but I'm so happy every time I find something like I recently found the Flair Watermill Bakery, the Landmarket, and families like the Dalmatians, for example.
Painting the buildings is not so difficult, you should give it a try!

We have our animals displayed in shelves next to the stairs on the way up to the second floor. And all of our buildings (we do not have aa many as you have) took over the space of all the cupboards in our hallway/living room that we can always play with them. So the Sylvanians are really living here with us 🙃
Do you have an updated top 5 wish list for 2023? Right now I can't wait for the floppy ear rabbits to be released. I also saw that there is a baby chef collection all in one box. I am keeping my eyes open for that one too! Thank you for this wonderful video. I really enjoyed it!
Yess!! I pre-ordered those from Amazon Japan. First new bunny mold in forever!! I'd have to think about a new "Top 5" - I've since ticked of the Shiba dogs and Owls (more to come on the owls.. AHH!), and only have a few "set" items left too.The Flower Garden rabbits (Fukuoka) and Renard foxes are up there for sure!
@@AdventuresinCritterland I would love the Owls. My favorite all time family is the bullrush frogs. I got them second hand when I purchased a house. My dream would be to get them still in the box. That is how I display my critters.

I love them, but I’ve basically given up trying to get them, usually used they are in bad shape, and if they come up new they are otherworldly expensive - for a good reason! Jacc batch, who runs the Sylvanian collector site, decided to sell his collection - very sad! - and the frogs were among the first to go!! 🐸

Haha IKR??! That’s on the top of my list. I just haven’t found a good deal on one in good condition, but I absolutely love it. Also space is a consideration, it’s so big that once I get it I’ll need a bigger room! (Or just take some others off, which Id probably end up doing). 🥰

Hello do you know how tall these figures are and then how tall the doors are? Has anyone ever placed a star wars 4 inch figure in these? or the homes?
The figures are about 3-4", and the doors are a bit taller, so your Star Wars figures should work pretty well in the buildings

Oh gee, it's hard to know exactly! Some months I spend more and others less, depending on what comes available, and I've been collecting maybe 6 years. But I don't buy excessive clothes, jewelry, shoes, or anything like that, or I don't spend money on my hair or on meals out, and am VERY thrifty both with my purchases and in general. So that makes it possible to invest in what I love!! ❤

Me too!! Big time. Two big blows at once, very sad! But I've also seen several new collectors pop up on RUclips in the last year which has been awesome, so the world turns, but yeah huge bummer on both. I'll REALLY miss Jacc's website.

Hiii! I have only 2 critters but i want a tip for they you know like the skin idk whats the name but how can i make them do not ripe the skin? Because imma buy the starter house but im scared about the bunny because the ones that i have they look a bit you know terrible lol
Hello!! The skin is called flocking, and don't worry too much, it is durable - we just need to take good care of them. I suggest keeping her inside and away from pets, food, liquid, dirt/dust, and small children. Also, put her away when you are not playing; I use little sandwich baggies for my critters, others use cabinets or bins, anything to keep dust off. Do not store her in a box or bin with other toys, that will scratch/ruin the flocking. And wash your hands before touching the flocking. BUT remember critters are meant to be played with!! Enjoy them, just take good care of them and they will stay in great condition. Good luck!! 🥰

Hello! The white mouse family that was commercialized before the Marshmallows was the Hawthorn, the names are: Hickery Hawthorn - father, Imogen Hawthorn - mother, Bryce Hawthorn - son, Laurel Hawthorn - daughter.

Do you recommend any sets for beginners?
Oooh yes!! It’s a common “new collector” recommendation, but the Starter Home (aka Cozy Cottage) is the best first set. It’s the best value, the most you will ever get for the money (they do that purposefully to hook you lol!!) Check out my starter home comparison video, there are currently 2 options in the USA, both are great.
For a large house: the Red Roof Country Home gift set and the new Blue Roof Carport Gift are great options; carport comes with car/carport, whereas RR home is compatible with Starter home; I’d recommend the carport for adult collectors and RR gift set for those more wanting playability/connectibility.
Families: Any of the widely available families are fantastic, it’s just a matter of preference, however for a collector I would shy away from the Easy Buy 3-pack families with the cheaper clothing.
Furniture: if you want to add furniture beyond what the house sets include, I would strongly recommend the light tan and brown kitchen sets that came out a while ago but are still easily available, and the tan country bathroom if you can find it. They put out some cheaper, bright plasticky kitchen, bath, and living room sets which aren’t great and won’t hold value compared to the earlier ones. There is a cute little cloth covered couch set that comes with a little flower vase that Id recommend over the new orange chair set.
More: as a new collector, you will find a ton of great things available on Amazon. When you are ready to venture beyond that, I would recommend checking out Amazon Japan, it’s easy to order internationally, and they have a much more unique selection.
