    I am looking forward to getting one and getting it built. I am kind of glad it has the pre-cut and pre-painted body, saves some time and no stinky paint! It does kind of suck if you want to do a custom theme but for a classic like this I am sure 98% will be done in black anyways. Have fun getting it together!!

    The reason for the way Tamiya released the shots the way they did was, the supershot suspension was originally just a hop-up kit, they then released the Supershot as a full car whilst still selling the Hotshot. When the Hotshot sales dropped they discontinued the Hotshot and low selling Supershot and released the Hotshot 2 as a replacement for both previous versions, which didn't last very long either as the people were over the Hotshots by then as you had the newer Bigwig and Avante plus it's brothers soon after released, then the Thunder shot and so on.
    So the Hotshot 2 was really just a last gasp with that chassis along with the Boomerang and Sabre.

      Thanks for the explanation ,that makes sense now probably in hindsight back in the day knocked the HS2 on the head and you could argue the sabre etc , but now we would be deprived of sone cool looking buggy’s in retrospect. Cheer for you comment much appreciated

    Looks good Andy, very tempted by one of the Hot Shot series cars, maybe a Sabre or Boomerang, can’t decide they all look great.

    I’ll be doing the same when it gets here 😅
    Bearing set & alloy suspension brace & steel pinion gear after I work out what ratio I need, for the 10.5t brushless Tamiya motor. Can’t wait to see how it turns out 👍🏻

    This was my first 4WD car and loved it! Sold it at a carboot after getting married, shelf queen condition, metallic dark green, new unused Technigold motor and fully ballraced with original Futaba radio gear. Sold all for £20! Been waiting for this ever since but oddly I’m not grooving it and can’t understand why …… maybe the buzz and excitement for it has now burnt out with me 😢 I need it but…….

    Much as I love these re-re buggies, they are a bit too pricey for my liking. Can't wait to see the finished Hotshot 2 mate👍👍

    I think Tamiya should re re release but in different colored plastics and with limited run wheel design to add a Sense of exclusivity.

    • @andyrobinsonrc2480
      @andyrobinsonrc2480  11 месяцев назад +1

      I think they could do that anyway but I’m happy Tamiya re released the hotshot 2 for people who wanted one like the original. There’s not stopping Tamiya releasing ltd edition re-colours , they’ve done it in the past with the grasshoppers and lunch box’s etc.

    I never was a fan of the Hot Shot. I did not like the clam shell chassis. Why? If you have any problems you need to take the car half apart to fix it. With modern electronics this might no longer be necessary to take that far apart. I did however, get the Blockhead motors version of this car. It was on sale. I have not built it yet. Thoughts?

    I have ordered 1. I had 1 in 1997 I threw a tantrum because my mum wanted to buy me a hornet and till this day I don't like them.
