    Was actually kicking the idea of making some rock sliders and changing the look of my 80 a little. Not to go over rocks but just a bit of added protection and to get ride of a few rust issues and having a little step. Seeing you do this gave me some new ideas of doing it and another reason to buy a welder 😂😂👍thanks great video.

    I had a set like this on an XJ Cherokee and they worked great. This is honestly how most people should be building sliders. All the steel for the cantilevers supports to go to the frame weighs so much and you lose so much ground clearance too. Overlander guys with these huge 300 lb sliders that are so low they smack them on even easy obstacles always make my eyes roll. Sure if you are rock crawling or something extreme I get it. But this design would work and be better for 95% of people traveling off road.

    Matt, nicely done. It is a pleasure to watch a video where some preparation is done. I hate it where the video shows the finding of stock and tools, on-the-fly designing, pondering a decision, and generally ill-preparedness.

    Nice but you've got to grind / sand the paint off the existing metal before you weld. It just takes a minute with your angle grinder. Dirty welds aren't as strong as clean welds.

    • @MadMatt4WD
      @MadMatt4WD  3 года назад +1

      Yes thats correct. I prepped where i could. the amount of weld in these will be more than enough to cope with what i'm doing

      @fridaynightgamefilm 3 года назад

      @@MadMatt4WD You're not alone. Other than one or two professional welding channels, most fabricators on RUclips seem to skip the metal prep step. It drives me crazy. Sure there are welds that no one will see, and/or don't matter structurally, but when you're welding something that matters, prep matters. A quick pass with a wire brush or a flap disc sander on your angle grinder is usually all that is needed. Love your videos... keep up the good work.
