it is so cool. What I love about muslim countries buildings is that they are completely unapologetic for being bold , imaginative, fun, original and moreover : beautiful.
Wonder if they’ll change the building cladding regulations in the future and expect the residents to pay for it
As an Egyptian, I hope this project of the mega city turns out as beautiful as I imagine, I hope we can offer ourselves and the world a new and majestic Egypt.

@see ya well the government is trying to do all at once because if Egypt waits for all of its population not to be in poverty the country will wait for a millennium so right now by building these new cities which will at some point get income the the go they’re hitting 2 birds with one stone and it’s the right decision

It's planned to start in 2024 and be finished by 2030
The one that is under construction is the iconic tower and it's already now the tallest building in Africa as it's known for.
The iconic tower is in the middle of the first phase of the new capital which is 40,000 acres, the whole city is 184,000 acres so it is a huge city
I think by 2030 the first and second phase will be completed
Most of the first phase is completed and the government is moving there this year and
some of the residential districts have already started selling appartments
The second phase is 47,000 acres
The third is 97,000 acres
The city is that huge bcz its main purpose is relieving pressure on Cairo and all Egypt
Egypt is also building a lot of new cities all over the country I think around 20 cities
some of them are just resedential with the main services (they are close and related to old cities so there is now Aswan and New Aswan, Mansoura and New Mansoura ..etc)
and some are meant to be important cities like New Alamein city and New Galala city
and they've done good progress in them too
the government is doing that because we all live around the Nile river and no one would go to live in the desert unless there is already a city there
otherwise all the green area around the Nile and in the Delta would disappear under unorganized buildings
So we're not just over 100 million people stuck around the Nile
but also stuck in our old cities to save our limited source of agriculture
So new cities are a necessity for Egypt not for fun, I don't think everything will go perfect for a developing country like Egypt
but I guess it will get easier and better as they go
and they just started these cities in 2016 and now they've done good work in such a short time
so I'm excited to see how Egypt will look like after 10 or 15 years
Maybe it would even be beyond expectations who knows let's hope

Btw I live in cairo and I can tell you that old cairo is also getting lots of upgrades for old and traditional places like downtown new egypt those areas looks great in there new style!

That will be a breathtaking project. Not only is it a functional, sturdy skyscraper but is looks like a cultural monolith (heh) as well. The Burj Khalifa just screams aristocratic wealth to me, but this building feels like it represents Egypt itself imo.
