I agree. I've been watching this over for months trying to figure out how and why the quality is miles ahead of any other Sony a6300 video. Is there any chance you could show your S-log2 settings and/or your colour grade process? Completely understand if you don't want to show, haha. Incredible footage mate

I watched a video showing Borneos rainforest from 1950 to 2020, and the deference is not only big, it's massive :,(

Thanks for the kind words! I used a mix of recordings from the internal mic and more specific sounds, sourced online, to match more detailed imagery. The sound of the bees for example was never recorded, as those bees where completely silent in real life :) I put quite a few hours into getting the mix and volumes right, the sound in something like this, I believe, is just as important as the images..perhaps more so. In the first part of the film music was selected to strengthen the contrast between the city and the jungle. People and the impact we have, and nature. All sound work was done in premiere. woah... didn't know the internal mic could be so good, the sound quality of the video is pure perfection! Really loved the sound edit, many use it way too often making it dominant and irritating, but this was just right :) Where do you get your sounds from?
berrybluee :) Thanks again! I worked a lot on the audio. It makes atleast 70% of this film so it's pretty important, like you say. I use freesounds.org for the most part. I'm really glad you liked it :)

Thank you! I only used the internal mic. The jungle sounds are the internal mic, and the thunder, rain and sound effects are sourced mainly from freesound.org.

Under the Bridge Thank's a lot! I tweaked a Casey Wilson "S-log 2- to Rec 709" LUT. If I remember correctly they are free to download, and you can find them if you just Google his name :-). I mainly adjusted saturation and made some adjustments to the greens. I also had to make local adjustments to specific clips as this was a bit of a run and gun situation at times. Mainly exposure was a bit off.. when I shot this I hadn't realized that I was able to use a monitor LUT profile on the Sony. Hope this answers your question?

I've had some other gear lying around and was about to sell everything to just force myself to do everything, both portrait pictures and videowork, with a single camera and a single lens...and well, I'm going for the Sony A6300 with this 35mm f/1.8! Thanks for the terrific work :)

Staffan Kjellvestad did you try any other lens or you're sticking with the 35mm? I actually had the A6000 with the 50mm for a while but I need 4K and thought the 50 was a bit too long both for filming and photography, found it a bit limiting
I use the camera almost every week with the work I do, and I have tried a wide variety of lenses, both native and canon glass. The 35 mm is still the one I would bring on a trip. Maybe together with the much bigger 70-200 OSS.
Staffan Kjellvestad thanks for the reply, that answers my doubt even more. I need a lens which can doe everything: portraits, video and that can be my only one to carry around during trips...seems this 35 is way better than the 50 for your experience :)
Hey Staffan I forgot to ask two things! First, did you do any other video with this camera and lens? Also, have you ever used it with the kit lens or you picked it without it? I see a lot of people filiming with the A6000/A6300 and both the 16-50mm + 35mm but I don't know if the kit lens is worth it considering it's quite soft

+Antti Heikkilä Yes. I would really recommend it. Make sure to get the latest a6300 software update as well, otherwise you might run into some overheating issues. At least for me, that solved the problem :)

+Antti Heikkilä no problem! You should be aware that the camera suffers from rolling shutter, and for some, that is a deal breaker. However, I didn't have any problems with this as I planned my scenes accordingly. Just a side note.
This is amazing. Cleanest video I've seen out of the a6300. Do you edit and export in 4k or in HD?
Thank you! 4k all the way. The a6300 needs a controlled environment, without the type of movement that causes rolling shutter. Have you shot any of your work on it, or the GH4?
Staffan Kjellvestad I just hopped over to the a6300, I was shooting on a Canon t2i! Seeing content like reminds me that the jump was worth it. I've messed around with slog-2 but end up getting lots of grain. I'm definitely gonna give it another go after seeing this. So, so good dude! Please come out with more stuff!
