I am on year 4 1/2 and and each year gets better. I’m graduating to the hat next for my birthday 😁😂🤣 I owe it to myself! I love the products. I haven’t used over the counter in store products in five years and I am not missing it. Thank you very much Dr G! If these people can’t invest in their hair, then it’s terrifying to see them give up so easily. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Doctor i hv 2 questions regarding minoxidil 1.My transplanted hair started falling once i stopped topical minoxidil.its been 7months.Will it grow back if i start minoxidil again? 2.Can i use it on alternate days ?..will it double the time of hair growth ??....or is it manditory that we should use it daily if we hv to see the results???
Dr. Gaunitz, what about medical therapies for transgender women? I've been told that I MUST take finasteride, and also that it's 'probably not necessary'. I've also received many warnings to never take it regardless of how much it helps with hair, because it also leads to increased depression (which trans people are already overwhelmed with). I lost a lot of hair before I began hormones, but in the couple of years I've been on estrogen, I don't think I've lost any more hair. I'm so confused about whether I should be taking finasteride, avoiding finasteride (probably both), or if there's other alternatives so that I can help ensure the hair I still have without taking a medication that has a side-effect of playing 'russian roulette' with my wellbeing.
I have a question. A hairdresser/ trichologist did my hair and used ice cold water, I asked her why and she told me that as a trichologist she only use cold water because its best for the hair and scalp on all hair types for all treatments. Is this true?
My iron test results came out to 66 UG and my ferritin levels came out to 36 NG and my dermatologist wasn’t concerned about that being the issue to my hair loss just because I have a lot of hair growth. I had a c section with twins 10 months ago and then had to have another surgery a month and a half ago. I can’t really eat red meat often so what should I do!?
I bought your Hairstem shampoo and conditioner and after just 4 days my hair shedding decreased like literally 90%. I was actually amazed. From like 60 hairs down to less than 10. After 9 days of use it’s been steadily increasing my hair count and hairline. I’ve been following the directions and tried both ways with the conditioner in my scalp and not in. My hair looks worse after I use the conditioner in my scalp too. I tried it the same way but only using the conditioner on my hairs and ends and it looks better. Should I just stick with using it in the scalp or no?
So it sounds like you’re probably using too much conditioner. You really don’t need that much and it’s predominantly for your scalp and you should be rinsing it out completely. For the Hairstem shampoo to stop your shedding immediately sounds like a fluke. Most of the time it’s gonna take at least a month if not six weeks for the shedding to stop. I would really look at what’s going on internally more so than trying to mask here with a shampoo. Our shampoo is great but it’s mainly there to cleanse your scalp and support Internal correction of the hair loss situation.
@@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist I’ve been supplementing with multivitamins and other things for a couple months now. I just happened to notice decreased shedding from switching to your shampoo. My hair is really weird. A lot of things affect shedding for me. I had been using a different one before that point. I will decrease conditioner use, thanks.
I have hair shading everytime i wash my hair Normally i wash my hair every 4 days and taking vitamins my iron and ferritin and zinc are very good Unfortunately i have endometriosis I need your recommendation dr plz thank you
Board certified dermatologist here -- I think you're overgeneralizing here. A dermatologist will look at the scalp and many times offer a biopsy to determine the underlying cause for the hair loss. We also use a dermatoscope, which is hand held magnifier, allowing us to closely examine the hair shaft as well as the scalp itself. So, we do more than just briefly look and prescribe medications. You're not portraying dermatologists in an accurate way. I also think that you need to be more clear that there are a lot other causes of hair loss beyond androgenetic alopecia, like discoid lupus, CCCA, folliculitis decalvans, dissecting cellulitis of the scalp, etc, so we don't just offer finasteride and minoxidil.
Thank you for sharing your insights. It's valuable to hear from professionals in dermatology, and we appreciate your emphasis on the thorough approaches dermatologists use in diagnosing and treating hair and scalp conditions. Our video aimed to explain the role of trichologists, but certainly not at the expense of diminishing the critical role dermatologists play. We acknowledge the variety of methods, including biopsies and dermatoscopic analyses, that dermatologists use to comprehensively address hair loss beyond prescribing medications. Your point about the wide array of potential causes of hair loss, such as discoid lupus and CCCA, highlights the importance of specialized medical assessment, which we also support. Our goal is to enhance understanding and collaboration between specialties to achieve the best outcomes for patients. We'll strive to ensure our content reflects this better. Hi William, I've been taking your DHT BLOCKER and FoliGROWTH for 9 months and my hair is still falling out and my hair is not getting thicker. I find it on the floor all over the house. Not sure what the problem is.
There’s definitely something else going on. I would highly recommend you have a consult with our Junior Trichologist and she will help you sort that out.
Well, there’s a lot of variables, but with your ferritin being very low, you most likely need Derma iron, but obviously there may be other things going on as well. You really should take the quiz and do the hair pull test on the website to better understand your situation.
Dr after 4 session of prp my hair fall out in white bulb it's normal? My vit d3 50 and ferritin 68 all in normal range so what was the cause of my hairfall i dont have any thyroid issue, pcos
I the white bulb at the end usually indicates a Demodex parasites. PRP will do nothing for that. Also, PRP will not stop the underlying hormonal condition that is causing the loss. You must stop that first before you do PRP.
Appreciate the info, as I have bought and will continue to buy a nutritional based product called "Folligrowth", by Advanced Trichology. But I have to admonish you like many other info-mercial videos like this: SLOW DOWN! DON'T TALK SO FAST, AND PAUSE AT THE END OF A SENTENCE! It is so annoying to me when people who produce some oratory videos ramble from one sentence to another in the same monotone, no voice modulation; no variation in pitch, pace, or power, and then no pausing. I have to thumb the video and leave only because of these reasons.
Sir i love your videos....i am 19 years old, i always had full thick hair. my hairfall started about two years ago when i moved to a different city ,at first it was barely noticeable . A month later my mother passed away and following that my hair started falling out like crazy (with a white bulb) more than 100 strands a day ..and it just added to the stress and i developed severe depression afterwards because of certain factors . Over time the hairfall has kinda slowed down a bit ..not that much . I always had a widows peak just like my dad who has a full head of hair with a v- shaped hairline but I've noticed that the baby hairs on my forehead are almost gone and my hairline has receded around 1-2 cm from where the juvenile hairline was . I still have a lot of hair on my head but it just feels like it is not like what it used to be . Q. Is it just a maturing hairline or MPB? Q. Can stress trigger androgenic alopecia? Q. I shampoo my hair every time i wash i have straight hair .. could it be the reason for damaged hair follicles ? Pls im really worried..and sorry for the long comment
Sounds like this is a stress induced telogen effluvium shed, which has resulted in your shedding what you would have lost with male pattern. Shampoo will not harm you Unless you have an allergy to one of the ingredients. you probably have an underlying nutritional deficiency that is making this worse.
@William Gaunitz how can i get in touch with you and possibly get a appointment with you im facing really bad hair loss. 3 years ago I had perfect head of hair it was fuller, thicker, luscious hair and then it started going downhill fast and I really need your help sir.
Covid can create an inflammatory environment that makes it challenging to return to normal.
