Anemia Hair Loss: Iron Deficiency, Low Ferritin, and Hair Thinning

- Anemia Hair Loss and Iron Deficiency Hair Loss. How does it happen? What can you do to fix it?
Iron deficiency and hair loss or anemia and hair loss. This is one of those items that I feel as though in the hair loss world, people just straight up overlook the vast majority of the time. There are so many cases that I've run into that somebody has tried everything. They've tried minoxidil, they've tried Propecia, they've tried PRP or vitamins or whatnot and nothing worked and essentially they end up in my office and I do our very standard blood test, ferritin, vitamin D3, blood type and it comes back that their ferritin is low and their ferritin is their iron storage protein. If that's low and what I mean by low is essentially less than optimal, that can be a massive influence in the loss of hair and essentially prevent you from growing hair back. When you're looking at everything, people think of just iron, but they have to think of ferritin because ferritin is your iron storage protein.
To get a little bit more involved in this, iron is a vital substance for our body. Without it we cannot live. It is 70% of what actually makes up hemoglobin, which is our red blood cells. It transports oxygen throughout the entire body and collectively we have to have a pretty substantial amount of iron in our diet to keep our bodies working properly. When we are looking at this scenario for hair loss, we have two major blood tests that we look for to understand how iron or ferritin is influencing your hair.
When you're going to get a blood test, oftentimes your standard blood test is simply not going to give you the information you need to know if ferritin or iron is influencing your hair. You must get a serum iron blood test and a ferritin blood test to know exactly where you're at. You might have some additional symptoms that would allow you to key into that. If your iron is very low, you're also going to have symptoms like bruising easily, fatigue, lightheadedness, you're also going to run into potentially heart palpitations, but if your ferritin is low, you might not have any of those or any of those physical symptoms, you might just have hair loss. Again, that's why you need to get both of those blood tests.
Each individual is going to have a little bit of a different daily requirement of iron-based on their lifestyle factors, but some key demographics that are going to have more demands for iron would be a menstruating female. As soon as a woman obviously begins to menstruate, losing a very large amount of blood on a monthly basis becomes a key factor, an overwhelming need for iron because when you lose that blood, you're actually going to end up pulling from your ferritin stores to rebuild all of those red blood cells that you just lost. If that's happening over and over and over again, it can easily diminish ferritin. Most of the females that I see in their teens, they're actually losing hair due to ferritin or iron issues.
Iron and hair Loss and Ferritin and Hair Loss. Today, we are going to be discussing iron deficiency and hair loss-- or anemia and hair loss-- specifically, the effects and what you can do about the problem. Many people have tried everything under the sun to correct this problem from certain over-the-counter drugs to daily vitamins and yet, nothing worked. Essentially, they ended up in my office taking Vitamin D 3 tests which have led to the answer they were looking for. Watch this video to learn what the cause of iron deficiency and hair loss may be for you and how to overcome it!

I started using lityleextra reactivate hair growth serum which has rosemary because my hair was swiftly falling out due to stress and other factors. I was actually only looking for anything to try, and this turned out to be suggested, therefore I decided for it. Within a few days, I myself noticed significantly less hair loss when I brush my hair. I also noticed the area where I started getting patches of loss, there had been new growth. It actually irritate my skin a bit right on the forehead hairline, thus I use a band to avoid it from running down as also keeping the head tilted back during application. The irritation vanished and did not returned, so if your skin is sensitive or simply to be careful, I advice a hairband to prevent it from running down to your skin. In general, I'm so pleased with this serum and will keep on to use.
My hair feels fuller, looks more denser, and I'm even noticing fresh growth along my hairline since I started using reactivate hair serum.
I've noticed reduced breakage and thicker hair with reactivate growth hair serum

Amazing explanation doc, thank you so much
This gives me a lot of hope that I can reverse my hair loss because my ferritin was 8! This will be my focus for now
Excellent video, thank you! I have been researching this topic on my own for a decade now and this is exactly the same conclusions that I have found as well :)
I'm experiencing major hair shedding; my Iron is low and my Ferritin is @ 15! Thank you so much for this easy to understand deep dive!
One of the most underdiagnosed reasons for hair loss no question. A most recent blood test showed I had a low Ferritin and Iron level but was within their 'reference range'. At first glance, it looks on the low side but fine until my NP doctor saw the numbers and said you're anemic! I opted for iron weekly iron injections and my hair is no longer falling out and my energy is through the roof! No question regrowth will happen. This company also happens to have some great hair growth products check them out.
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Thank you so much for your feedback Rob! It means a lot to us and we're happy that you were able to stop your hair loss! :)

You didn't get any iron stain ?
not one of my doctors has mentioned iron infusions and my iron/ferritin has been low for years now. It just finally caused hair thinning/breakage/loss, my hair used to be extremely thick and now it is extremely thin and sad. im at quite a low point, been taking iron supplements for a while and it has not been helping. am going to keep trying, but I just miss my hair so much.
I found out by accident I am anemic and did not believe until I went on you tube so helpful

EXCELLENT explanation!
Over the last 3 years ive lost what appears to be about 40% of my hair. Ive always been anemic due to heavy periods. Lately my hemoglobin has stabilized but i still have low iron and my most recent ferritin came back at 5!!! After watching this video im so thrilled to have another option. I thought id run out of options. Ive tried all kinds of creams oils and hair loss products - some prescribed by my dermatologist. I'll be trying this for sure and will give an update in 6 months. Love love love this video. It was very informative and educational.I am blood type O, I take pantaprazole and acid reflux meds,. I suffer with anxiety and chronic fatigue. Blood test show that I have low vitamin D levels and I found out yesterday from my dermatologist that my ferritin was a 4.....so my doc referred me to a hematologist. After watching this video, I learned that taking the acid reflux meds 💊 could be worsening my iron deficiency issue...I plan to stop taking them.
phenomenal. I am blood type O. I realized that years ago my hair loss was affected by doing a vegetarian diet. I knew I shocked my system and then created digestive problems. I then tried eating macrobiotically, thinking this was healthier, yet I lost energy and endurance. The moment I started eating according to my blood type, I felt so much better. but the damage had been done. Your explanation aligns with my experience and my gut feeling. I took your hair quiz, talked to your staff, bought products, and have a phone consultation soon. I already know my afro is coming back strong Doc. lol Thank You. I am definitely an androgenic alopecia candidate.

OMG, thank you so much for this lecture. It’s answered so many questions I’ve had over the years concerning cyclical hair loss. Luckily, my current doctor is supporting all my blood tests (I live in the UK and the National Health Service is limited in what they can do) so I should hopefully have some answers and get a treatment plan by the end of the week. It’s really comforting to know there may be something to help my hair loss. It’s been so demoralising growing my hair only to have it start falling out in clumps again.

You are AWESOME. Thank You!!! More, More, MORE!!!
Finally, I reduced my white flakes on the scalp and hair fall.
First, Apply hair oil and let it overnight or at least 1 hour for it to work.
Step 2: Wash it off with shampoo.
Step 3: Apply conditioner that you prefer to the roots of your hair.
I used a mild and natural hair fall control kit by littleeextra cococonion for these steps as it's gentle and organic, and is considered gud for hair fall control.
Incase if you also have dandruff, apply lemon juice on your scalp minimum once a week before shampooing and rinse it out about an hour later.
My gosh, what great info! My ferritin has been low for over 2 years now, at times too low to measure. Sometimes my hgb dips low as well. My hair is awful, and has been made worse by sepsis from a kidney infection almost 4 months ago. Thanks for addressing this.

Good morning, I've just found your video and it has answered so many of my questions. I have a 17 year old daughter that has been suffering with shedding for 2 ½ years. We have tried so many different treatments including Minoxidle but nothing is really helping. Her mental health is really suffering as a result. Allot of what you discussed rings true for her. I want to know if I can buy your products in the UK or if there is an alternatives that I could buy.
Thank you. I learned so much.🙏
Glad it was helpful! :)
Thank you so much for your videos!!! So helpful!!!
I've bought the dht blocking supplement and one month in I've noticed less hair fall for sure. I'm looking to by the serum topical solution too. I once briefly used an acid reflux medication and a big chuck of my hair on my front left side literally wiped away one morning and has stayed thin ever since. I stopped straight after. I also weight train pretty hard 2-3 times a week. My job involves about 7-1/2hrs of lifting moderate to heavy objects. I've instinctively though iron keels might be the reason I've thinned over the years, that and DHT. I feel there is hope now, I'm a very healthy person overall. I meditate, relax, breathe and pray. I throw in some affirmations for good measure too.
Wich dht blocker is that?
👏👏👏😭This is incredible information (tears) THANK YOU SO MUCH DOCTOR !!! I am 41 female with hairloss & lives in the UK 🇬🇧 and my GP (ignored my low levels) has never looked into low Ferritin or low Vitamin D of which I am Chronically low in both (I have watched your video on low Vitamin D as well ). He did the other routine blood tests for hair loss which didn’t show anything. I am now on 210mg Ferrous Femurate & 4000IU Vitamin D, self prescribed over the counter meds. I have only started. It looks like I will have to change from ferrous femurate to the ones you recommend in video....THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING ME HOPE ❤️ PS: I have assessed & excluded all other types of hairloss

Hi im in a similar situation with hair loss was wondering what your ferratin levels were if you dont mind me asking? My vit d is at 66nmol/l and my dr is saying this is fine!
My hair was falling like crazy for yrs. I kept it short. I finally went to a doctor and she discovered my iron was at 4. She got me 2 infusions and my hair has gotten thicker. I can have it long now
Now how much increased?
please give me some hope if you can, my hair used to be so thick and in a matter of months its gotten extremely thin, i barely recognize myself. Im worried my hair will never be like it used to, or at best it will take me multiple years to get back to the thickness/length/health i have been working on for years
I had problems for years feeling exhausted and having episodes of feeling dizzy and winded. I was always put on antidepressants and given anxiety medication and told there was nothing wrong with me. I noticed that I was having trouble completing my normal run during my period. I had thought maybe it was an iron issue because of that, but my doctor always said my blood work was fine.
Then I started having horrible heart palpitations, that would last for days or even a week at a time. At the time I was also eating ice non stop. I would go to the gas station near my house and get a large cup of ice two to three times a day. I went to the ER with the heart palpitations and was sent to a cardiologist. I was told it was just pvc’s and totally normal and again, there is nothing wrong with me.
Then I started waking up at night with restless leg and feeling winded. I was sent to have a sleep study done and again told there was nothing wrong with me. Basically, was told I’m crazy.
It wasn’t until I went to an urgent care office asking for anxiety medication that I found a doctor that actually tested my iron levels. My ferritin was at 5 and iron binding was at 500 and something. I’m forever grateful for that doctor. I had suffered for probably close to ten years with these symptoms that would come and go.
Recently, I also was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis after I had an MRI done for back pain and a grapefruit sized mass was found on my left ovary. That was another years long battle with numerous doctors. If there had been a doctor that listened to me I may have gotten the help I needed and not suffered for so long with all the symptoms. I was told my heavy painful periods were normal by every doctor.
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: I'm sorry that happened to you! Unfortunately, that is very true. Most doctors would tell you not to worry about it if it's within normal range even if it's the low end of normal. Your ferritin at 5 was critically low. I hope that has been addressed.
I had a very similar story! Multiple ER visits where I was sent home with atarax (antihistamine) and wasn’t taken seriously. Come to find out I had. Softball sized fibroid, 3 other large fibroids and suspected endo. I had fibroid removal/endo surgery which helped. Also recently found out I’m anemic with low ferritin and have recently started having hair loss. I hope by fixing my iron/anemia will help
Thanks for this video ! my ferritin was 15ng/l few years ago and now it's 39ng/l, I still have a long way to go.
Excellent informative video
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Thank you so much for your feedback! Glad you find it helpful! :)
Thanks for your video. I will look into Iron. I suffer from memory loss, tiredness, hairloss. I think this might be it, also vegan just recently then my hair loss became more. Did heavy work too so makes sense!
So glad I found this video! I am suffering from TE, 4.5 months in 😞 and it took me a couple of months to even figure out it was TE then another couple of months to find out my ferritin is at an 8! I started iron supplements from my doctor 2 weeks ago, hoping I see my shedding completely stop soon. My thick hair is now so thin, not bald but thin enough my scalp can me seen lightly when I wear my hair up (my temples got hit hard). My density is just awful and I have oily hair because of this. I subscribed! Thank you for this video!
Update: 8/5/23 - Unfortunately my hair is still shedding like wildfire 😔 I do now believe and at this point honestly, I *know* the Pfizer vaccine caused my TE. It started in June 2021, quite literally right after my first shot. Not even 2 weeks after because when I got my second dose my hair began to fall out *more* 😒.

My goodness! I had my blood lipid panel sent and I am very low in ferritin. No wonder my hair was falling out last year! I thought it was just the stress!
Great video.
Thank you for this video! Is it safe for me to take ferritin and iron supplements at the same time?
Update: finally got to an appointment and I’ll be getting new blood tests and seeing a dermatologist. My hair has gotten so much worse. The doctor walks in and first thing she says is “well you were anemic but the worst was with ferritin but that’s just iron” it was a direct answer. God really just let everything fall in place. Hopefully they can get something for me but even if it’s not fixable it’s still nice to know.

Thank you so much for your video. My son started losing his hair at 14. Doctors told me that he was just going bald because of genetics. It took me demanding there was something else going on. Found out when he turned 17 that his ferritin was an 11. He's recently been able to get his ferritin to 55 over the last 8 months. I have doctors telling me he also has androgenic alopecia. He's a diffused thinner on the top of his head. Hoping it will get better soon. He's on an iron supplement, recently started finasteride and oral minoxidil. It's been so frustrating and heartbreaking for him
In addition plz see vitamin D levels also. Vitamin D is also essential for hair growth...

I'm addition to iron, vitamin d,
Try
Zinc(+copper to balance)
Biotin (+vit b5 if acne issues occur)
Hair thinning begins to be rectified around 1-2 months if caused by biotin deficiency, so try 3 months
Note that biotin can skew test readings for thyroid and testerone, so tell the doctor whether you need to do tests so they can adjust.
This video has been informative.
My hair has been thinning for many years since my early twenties and I just dont know why. I don't have polycystic ovary syndrome because I have regular cycles. But my sister does have pcos and she's completely bald so I wondered if it was pcos
I have excessive bleeding my whole adult life during cycles and do suffer symptoms of anaemia each time so cold, struggling to breathe, paleness, clammy, and absolutely exhausted and floored where I can't do much. After about 5 days I bounce back. But my hair really sheds where I'm embarrassed by it, people look at my scalp & keep on staring I'm using treatments to make it look thicker but the problems getting worse. It really does cause me annoyance because I use regain, b12 and folate and many other vitamins and hair products over the years.
I did a private blood test and it showed a ferretin level of 9. Does this mean low iron, could this be causing my hair loss? Low ferritin
I'm AB + and brought up not eating red meat.
I also have a condition called erythromelalgia for 17 years and apparently low iron can trigger it, so I am wondering now if its possible I have low iron that's causing it.
It's upsetting when your hair falls out and looks worse a
nd worse as time goes on 😫
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: When a female starts losing hair since their teens or before the age of 35, there's usually nuritritional deficiency or sensitivity that is diriving the early onset of the hair loss. Your ferritin is critically low which needs to be addressed with correct iron supplementation asap. PCOS is also a possible factor since you're experiencing excessive bleeding which is not normal. Thank you !
omg.. thank you for the video. my hair has been shedding since late april and it REALLY came out during august september and this month. the doctor said my ferritin is 10 and iron saturation 9. the doctor said that my low ferritin was causing my hair loss so i decided to eat red meat/meat 2 weeks ago and i am taking an iron supplement twice a day. i dont get as many headaches and my fatigue has much improved. i am even seeing some hair growth but the shedding is still excessive and i think it is because my ferritin is so low. thank you for the video and i will cut out coffee ... i was vegetarian 5 years and started veganism this year.. i also drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day and was doing cardio like 3-5 miles a few times a week back in may/june/july/august.. i think all of this caused my iron to deplete and my ferritin went down to 10. i am 26 and it has been devastating seeing my hair thin and come out.. its still shedding but i am going to cut it off and start over and treat my body right. i had no idea what ferritin was until a few weeks ago
Same here sis, my ferritin is 3.7 but my doctor is not concerned about low ferritin level rather she is only prescribing vitamins which is not helping me.

6 months later, how did things go?
Finally got my answer this week. Labs showed severe low iron. Transferrin sat low, iron very low, vit D very low. Shedding hair like crazy.
How many hairs are you shedding every day
Hi. I’ve lost about 70% of my hair. It is very noticeable at the crown of my head. July 2020 my ferritin level was less than 8 and vitamin d was 33. My Dr. recommended iron ( 4 months 45mg) and vitamin d3(2000 iu) supplements. In January 2021 ferritin level and vitamin d went up to 41. My hair still sheds though not as bad but now it is very thin at the top. Should I supplement with iron and include ferritin supplements until my numbers are closer to 70? If so for how long before I recheck my levels again? Thank you.
i would say 3 months, how are your levels now
update
Continue!! There is no harm
I lost 80% of my hair due to iron deficiency. My latest ferritin is at 21, even after taking 112mg of iron for so long. I had an iron infusion (3x), and that made everything worse after. Derm diagnosed me with TE due to the iron infusion. I tracked my hair loss, and after I got the infusion, I went downhill. I never thought I would be going bald because of this. I have done so much to improve, from eating well, supplements, etc. Doctors have been no help.
If you haven't already incorporate heme iron supplements or red meat. I'm surprised you were not prescribed iron supplements. 45mg is low, especially with your ferritin levels.
My ferritin is 44 , Been to tons of dermatologists they say it’s okay, in range and maybe the iron may work but it could be hereditary. I will start taking the Iron. The last dermatologist discouraged me saying maybe it won’t even work so I never kept up taking it. Now I will try to get the number up to 70.
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: If it's 44ng/ml, that is below optimal. You definitely need to take iron, we recommend derma iron for 3 mos, if non menstruating you can take 1 a day but for menstruating women, you probably need more than that. www.advancedtrichology.com/collections/nutritional-hair-loss-products/products/derma-iron

I am so happy with the results, I took Vitamin D too.💖💖 I should have done this instead of buying expensive shampoos and oils! They are all useless if you have low iron and Vitamin D
@@lizaminasyan9255 thank you so much...got some hope ... because going through the same
What are your levels now ?
I track my calories in MyFitnessPal and also look through the nutrition section to see what’s recorded there and my Iron intake has been really low. I think this has been the case for my hair loss.
I had low ferritin and was a hair loss patient with one of the leading physicians in research - well in advance of a plant based diet. Gut health can play a role not just low iron/ferritin as can having GI bleeding, etc. It is not ideal to just take a supplement without knowing the cause. Fortunately I have good doctors and they confirmed not eating meat had nothing to do with it and advised further workups, while commending me for a healthy plant based diet which reduces other health issues. I am regrowing hair now and I will never change my diet or take supplements unnecessarily as they often have fillers that can compromise the gut.
calm down. he addresses all factors. what's your blood type? he recommends getting blood work. angry vegans are the worst.
@@brothercinnamon2479they weren’t angry. You’re projecting.
@MCAVideos6886 that's what your doing. pot meet kettle
I hope you will make a video about how excessively HIGH iron and/or ferritin can also CAUSE hair loss?
Thanks a lot sir.... 🙏🏻
Ive noticed my hair has been going for about 6 months now. Lol, I had a bout of gastritis last year and was on PPI for months last winter, I also drink a lot of coffee. Turns out my ferritin is 25. This is crazy bc I eat a lot of protein, its the last thing I expected to be low. Would it be reasonable to think that eating better and adding in some supplements would help my hair come back?
You are blocking the absorption of iron from drinking alot of coffee
Hi Dr William, Thank you for this, I was prescribed Ferrous Fumarate Capsules and have to take one a day as my iron levels were said to be extremely low, my hair has'n't grown since I was maybe 16/17, I'm 26 now and it always stops growing at a certain level which is really short. Do you have any thoughts on the medication i was prescribed and if you've heard of this medication yourself, have you seen good results in any of your patients? thank you :)
Hey William thanks for great info. Where do I get the "Detox Tea" for liver and kidneys? Also the anti-fungal shampoo and conditioner you mentioned in your videos?
Hi! you may get it at www.advancedtrichology.com/collections/all
Thank you 🙏🏻
is there a product, and if so, is there a link?
Hi you made my day I’m low on iron and ferritin may I start off with the iron first?
I have been suffering with thinning hair for several years, I thought it was due to going through meno pause but I also have low Thryoid (in particular, low T3. It is checked every 6 months and I have been on dessicated armour for years. Now in my 70's. I have been taking HAIR GRO by Nordic, has helped a bit, some baby fine hairs but nothing really substantial. I have been on this formula for at around 6 months. I also take D3 and K2 combined and my Vit D levels are over 100. I live in Toronto, Canada. What other tests other than iron and ferritin should I have done as I will be having my Thyroid levels checked later this month. They check TSH, FREE T3, FREE T4.
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: First, you need to discontinue vitamin D3 and retest after 2 months or so. Take the hair loss quiz to find out which product will work for you here www.advancedtrichology.com/pages/quiz. Also, it might be worth getting an ANA blood test to check for thyroid ANA is contributing to your hair loss.
What if iron saturation is ok but ferritin is low? Thanks
Where can I find the glandular ferritin supplement you mentioned in the video? I didn’t see it in the website
Great video! I had as low as 12 ferritin, probably had low for years. I develope hairloss similar to AG. Now my ferritin went up go 39 because my doctor prescribe me iron pills. I eat very healthy and meat couple of days a week, take vitamin c b12 and folat to take up iron better.
Could my hairloss be because of iron, or be a part of it at least? I have notice some baby hair under my hairline since I start.
Hi doc just curious at 1:30 you mention cannot growing hair back. Is that saying what’s lost is lost forever? Or once the ferritin levels are fixed the hair will grow back? Thank you!
I would love to know this too! Did you get the answer?
Hello. New subscriber. I cannot find the ferritin supplements from this video. Do you no longer sale this product?
I love u advanced trichology I am Prabhu Devan
Can you tell me which blood test to go for?
My hairline started thinning significantly and the top of my crown had some diffused thinning and one spot with less hair. I have THICK hair so the thinning was quite obvious to me but easy to camouflage. I found out my iron was at 10! My hemoglobin was so low. I’ve been on supplements for a year and it’s finally at 40 but my spot on the top of my head isn’t growing in. The temples seem to be slowly growing in but not like they used to. No one in my family is bald, not even the men. I hope my hair will keep growing in but the top thinning makes me so self conscious. It’s still not a widened part or anything. The dermatologist said it could take over two years to turn the hair around. This video made me think perhaps I have to wait longer. It’s just so scary
Thank you for the video, it's so helpful. Can I buy this supements in Europe? Do you ship to Spain? Thanks
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Hi there! Unfortunately, we do not ship to Spain at this time.
Hi - Can you discuss if high levels of ferretin can cause hair loss?
My ferritin is at 37. My doctor says it’s normal. I have migraines and hair loss. Help :(
Hi William, I used dermaroller last year incorrectly, as I used it every day and my hair have not grown fully as before, it is thin, what would you say would be a good recommendation to get my hair fully . by the way I bought your program
Great. I am assuming you took the quiz? If so, what are you hair loss reasons?
Hi, thank you so much for the lecture, I live in Canada and I have just had my blood work done and my ferretin is 20 ug/L. I drink 2-3 cups of coffe per day , i feel fatigue, i lose hair and eyebrows , I have frequent headaches, depression, anxiety, and a lot of other symptoms....could it all be because of low ferritin?
Thank you!
P.S T3, T4 and TSH came back normal.
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: That definitely has something to do with your hair loss but the other symptoms you're experiencing, I would recommend talking to your physician about those. I recommend taking the below products for your low ferritin level:
Ferritin: take 2 in AM with food and 2 in PM with food for 6 months, retest ferritin. www.advancedtrichology.com/products/ferritin-5mg-60-count
Derma Iron: 2 cap per day at night with food for 3 months, retest ferritin, or discontinue www.advancedtrichology.com/collections/nutritional-hair-loss-products/products/derma-iron
What about getting D3 tested too? Where should levels be for a 25 yr old male? Thnx❗😃
I’m a 74 year old female and curious to know your thoughts on Hereditary Hemochromatosis requiring phlebotomy therapy to reduce ferritin to 40. 5 years in and had no trouble with thinning hair until 2 years ago after undergoing hip replacement, foot surgery, and spinal fusion surgery all within 13 months. Blood panel showed low zinc, D3, K2, and Biotin. After 3 months of supplements, changing to a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, and a change in diet my hair has stopped shedding and is now growing back in.
Sounds like you had telegen effluvium after your surgeries
@@katmac8365 Not sure as I’m not a medical professional.
The hematologist told me he would release me since all he could offer was rounds of infusion.
Hello sir in April this year my ferritin level was 8 but after taking iron supplements for 4 months I rechecked my ferritin levels so now it's 62 but still I worst hair fall n my blood group is o+ please tell me how much ferritin levels are needed to stop hair fall

Hi Doctor, I have checked my ferritin serum and the results is 123.00 is it ok to take the tablets which u advice thank you
A very good and informative video. I m from Singapore and a male citizen. I just got my blood test result on 17 August 2023. My ferritin is very high > 329 ng/ml. I m having a low Vitamin D > 24 ng/ml. My hair still drop easily everyday. I already started taking the Adv Trichology DHT Blockers and applying Nutra M serum about 3 weeks ago. Pls advise me how much I must consume the Adv Trichology Vitamin D3 daily. I just received it a few days ago. Tk u Sir!!
Great information!! Thank you so much doctor!
After rising my ferrite level to 70, shall I notice the results immediately or it needs some more months to be noticeable?
How’s your hair?
What is a good optimal range of ferritin for most men? Maybe 100?
Really great video as I said. But those iron pills you have is only 5mg? Isnt that to little if you have low ferritin level, say between 10-50. My doctor said I need 100mg per day. Because only like 5-10% will the body take up. My ferritin went from 13 to 39 with good diet and iron pills. Without them it took forever.
How long after getting iron and ferritin levels up can it reflect on hair..
my iron was 55 and ferritin was 39.. Iv just had my second iron infusions after trying to raise levels with supplements and food for 2 years
It’s kind of demoralising how I, as a 16 year old male, consulted a dermatologists who intuitively just diagnosed androgenetic alopecia, and prescribed minoxidil. After conducting a blood test I realised my ferritin was at 20…
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Hi Philipp! If you have family history of hair loss, nutritional deficiencies can quickly expedite the miniaturization process. It's very possible to have both nutritional and hormonal hair loss at the same time but minoxidil isn't the right product for either type of hair loss unfortunately. You definitely need to work on increasing your ferritin level as the number 1 goal.
@@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist What would you recommend? My temples are becoming increasingly visible, but it seems to be some sort of diffuse hair loss, as Im losing hair primarily on the sides of my head, not the crown or much of the temples. Im afraid to consume finasteride due to potential impotence and sexual effects (as 16-year old I still want to have children). The only things Im doing right now is topical minoxidil 5 percent, taking supplements with biotin, B12, zinc, horsetail extract etc (viviscal and neofollics), microneedling at the temples and massages. I received an iron infusion of 200 mg 1 week ago and am taking iron supplement (29 mg) with vitamin C (Blood builder).
Do you think these therapies are promising or would you recommend something more?
