    I just scheduled my interview for precheck - this is perfect timing! I’m glad to hear that I won’t have to endure the same craziness as common folk. Only thing is I thought all airlines accepted it…I thought this was a security thing not an airline thing.

    • @KitatheExplorer
      @KitatheExplorer  3 года назад

      Yeah most should accept precheck now it’s possible some international airlines may not have it. But yea the airline has to sign up for it. You will know if they aren’t apart if you go to your airline profile or when you buy the ticket there isn’t a field to put your tsa precheck number.

    Huh this is very informational video! I have been wondering how the TSA works. I always see it every time we fly. With how you explained everything I agree having the Global Entry. Not only does it come with TSA pre check, it’s also only a few $ more to get it, and if you travel internationally, it helps with customs. We don’t travel internationally that much, maybe once a year, but this makes me want to apply for it. I had no clue that there is also another one called CLEAR. Do you need to have it even if you already have Global Entry?

    • @KitatheExplorer
      @KitatheExplorer  Год назад

      Yes, Clear is great when you use it with TSA Precheck (which is included with Global Entry). Clear uses biometrics to check you through security. You don't have to pull out any ID, just show your boarding pass and you get expedited past the TSA line. This is great for extremely busy airports (like ATL in my case). Also, some sporting arenas use Clear for expedited screening as well.

      I would say Global Entry would be worth it, if you still travel a few times a year so you can utilize the TSA precheck benefit. Global Entry isn't much more than TSA Precheck and both last for 5 years. Plus, if you have a credit card to cover it, why not! And Clear is costly with an annual fee and it appears to be more since I signed up for it years ago. But Clear + TSA Precheck especially at ATL airport is a must for me!

    For some none US citizens, Global Entry is the only way to get TSA Precheck. For me, being a Dutch citizen, getting Global Entry was the only way to also get TSA Precheck. I'm now conditionally approved, so I'll just have to do the enrollment on arrival interview when I get to Orlando on November 9th 🙂

      @KitatheExplorer  Год назад

      Yes Legal Permanent US Residents and the following non US Citizens may apply:
      Global Entry is also available to citizens of the Netherlands who are enrolled in FLUX and Korean Smart Entry Service members. Citizens of Germany, Panama, and Mexico may also apply for Global Entry. Canadian NEXUS members have Global Entry benefits, but are not eligible to join.
      Just wanted to clarify so other nationals won’t get upset if trying to apply. Unfortunately, it isn’t that wide open. At least not at this time. But glad you were able to apply and to get an appointment!

      @@KitatheExplorer You're correct, Global Entry is only available to some 14 other nationalities. As to 'enrollment on arrival', you don't need to make an appointment for that, though the number of airports where it's available is limited. There's a list on the CBP website with all the airports that support 'enrollment on arrival', including a few outside the US. There are also different requirements for different countries. Being Dutch, I had to have a DigID and give explicit permission to local law enforcement to do the background check. I see on the website it's 119/Year which saves about 60 bucks rather then just signing up directly with clear at the 179/Year rate. I'm just wondering if I am missing something with this? You mentioned a possible credit when applying? Is this with a travel credit card or any credit card? How does this work?

    • @KitatheExplorer
      @KitatheExplorer  2 года назад

      You can use any credit card to apply for Global Entry or TSA Precheck BUT ONLY certain credit cards have credits to reimburse your for that travel benefit. And when you use that qualifying card that has the reimbursement, when you use it, the credit card company will refund you. You won't have to do anything.
      But to find out if you have a credit card that reimburses for this benefit, I would suggest contacting your credit card holder to ask. Also, here is a list of some credit cards that has this benefit: www.cnbc.com/select/best-credit-cards-for-global-entry-and-tsa-precheck-credits/. And I know my Delta AMEX Reserve card reimburses for this as well.

    • @KitatheExplorer

      Yes, so if you are flying out of any US airport and the airline you are flying is register for the program, you can go through security using TSA PreCheck for any flight (domestic or international).

    • @KitatheExplorer
      @KitatheExplorer  2 года назад +1

      Hello, I haven’t flown directly out of ATL international concourse in a while (it’s easier to get to domestic or connected in NY to leave). But if I recall there is a precheck line but it is not always open. But the international terminal isn’t really as busy. If the line isn’t open, you can still show you have precheck and still have the screening for tsa precheck if the line is closed.

      It varies. But the first part of submitting the application and getting the conditional approval usually takes a week. But getting an interview is the tricky part. Depending on the city you are closest too, appointments could be booked up until next year. But you could try to snag an appointment if you go to the airport early for a flight by doing a walk up.

      For TSA PreCheck: Children ages 12 and under may use precheck with their parent or guardian as long as the parent or guardian has the PreCheck indicator on their boarding pass. www.tsa.gov/travel/frequently-asked-questions/i-am-traveling-my-family-can-they-also-use-tsa-precheckr-lane
      For Global Entry: Everyone going through Global Entry must apply and register in this program regardless of age. Children under 18 must have consent from the parent or guardian to register. www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/eligibility/children
      For Clear: Children under 18 may go through the Clear line for free when accompanied by a Clear member. www.clearme.com/support/family-plan/can-my-children-use-clear

      Sorry you feel that way as Clear works wonders for me! I fly through ATL and I have literally gotten through security in less than 5 minutes. And it’s great to not have to take out my ID. But I would say if you don’t travel often, don’t get it. And no you can NEVER bypass security screening (not even employees). It is important to go through security to avoid attacks and insure people are safe.
