I like how consecrated beasts capture the idea that they are made by consuming 'gods' and that because of their blessings, they have a sort of supernatural effect upon other species around them. But something I think is particularly interesting from a biological standpoint is that this looks like it is actually just a part of the bacterium's lifecycle, making it a particularly influential heteroecious species. I would guess that some of these species, probably ones that match the in-game consecrated beasts, have developed a higher resistance to the toxic side effects of this symbiotic lifestyle. It might even lead to species that scavenge having a higher chance of being consecrated.

Amazing video and I’ll admit that I don’t have too many specifics to comment on just found the whole video fascinating from beginning to end also I am aware that I have already suggested the carrion monster but this time I actually have a semi concrete idea for it that being making it a species of abnormally gigantic gene stealing salp or close relative of theirs and I’ll admit I’m not sure how the tentacles or separated stores of dormant mass could be made sense of, but you could make sense of the extra mouths and such as the carrion monster undergoing budding and using the semi complete offspring as I guess you could say supplementary food finders.
Million thanks! And I think it could work by being a type of colonial organism , using, as you suggest, horizontal gene transfer! Imagine a colonial organism rearranging itself based on stolen genes!
@@speculativewildlife yeah the thought of such an adaptable creature hellbent on consuming all available matter and complete environmental domination is certainly terrifying.
Holup, if this was just for another Genshin creature then why the heck did you make so much spelling errors in the community post?! I don’t play Genshin myself but it was nice to see another being from that world and I like that you expanded upon the Aether again and I can’t wait for whatever lies in the clouds above, potentially floating islands perhaps 🤔. And yeah, the tagline was metal af and it actually fits the design of the Consecrated Tiger you put in this episode. I can’t wait for Superman next week so I’ll see you there. Today’s proposal: Predators/Yautja Despite discovering several alien worlds previously there are remarkably few civilisations documented. Before now the only one known was the Gems but on an unassuming super earth close to home a far more predatory race exists. The Yautja are an ancient race of people naitive to an arid world rich in deadly animals. The Yautja physically are extremely powerful bipedal pack hunters that used their claws and large mandibles to take down prey. Despite their formidable reputation they have quite poor eyesight and mainly see the colour red and rely on smell and sensing the heat of potential prey. Their pack structure usually consists of mainly males with juvenile females on occasion. Adult females are more solitary and tend to themselves unless it is the mating season, where they will select the most suitable Yautja to mate with. Sucklings are shared among the packs by females to increase genetic diversity among individual tribes to be raised to hunt. This species quickly spread across the large supercontinent of their home planet and eventually diversified into many different races and tribes. Despite many differences between these races they have been mostly indifferent to each other, only starting conflicts when absolutely necessary. One of the distinguishing characteristics of a Yautja is the mandibles. These were originally thought to make clicks and other noises that made up the language of the Yautja but they are in fact used to help with mastication and other forms of communication like roaring. The clicks are made internally in the large skull of them. This large head is somewhat of a hazard for the Yautja as it could be exploited by other predators to easily kill them. For defensive purposes they have developed a large number of quills and thick, keratinised hair to help with defence and thermoregulation. This race of people is still seems remarkably “primitive” in terms of culture and some forms of technology, mainly weapons but this is due to the traditional ideals of the Yautja. Many young males undertake a ritual of hunting down the “ultimate prey” and becoming adults or Blooded as they put it. This “ultimate prey” was normally large apex predators found in the local ecosystems though in modern times it is often captive Xenomorphs that are used though there have been times where they escape captivity and sparks a war. Yautja despite their advanced technology don’t inhabit the poles of their or any world they live on due to their cold-blooded nature, even if they have the technology to support themselves. Yautja are a very honourable race like Imperial Japan of Earth and if they fail in any of their hunts instead of heading home and being disgraced by their kin they will often take their own lives in an often explosive manner. As they explored the cosmos they encountered many aliens and even terraformed worlds in order to hunt game in safety which can range from simple predators to sapient races. There have even been some accounts of them abducting humans to hunt and use facehuggers on. At this time the Yautja have not made any real effort to establish a relationship with any sapients that aren’t other Yautja species but with human technology getting more advanced especially with help from [REDACTED] we are getting closer to true first contact with the aptly nicknamed “Predators.” See you later.
Glad you found it interesting! Floating islands, creatures, and even vegetation that connects the ground and the sky ecosystems will be featured too! And I absolutely love your take on the Yautja!
