@@hunterofdarkness8329 To be honest though, I think he's acting here. But I agree, 20+ years in office would probably drive most people insane, especially in a country like Russia.
in the early 2000s he wanted to get integrated in the western economic sphere... he was releasing interviews like this one and saying he believed in liberalism. he said he asked Clinton to join NATO in 2000. he set up the NATO-Russia Council in 2002. Russian economy was growing strong. this phase lasted maybe until 2006... then some very contradictory 8 years and then with Crimea he took the final decision to throw all masks and just show publicly to the world he's a fascist dictator whose goal is to recreate the great empire and to destroy the west with propaganda. Russian economy started to tank after Crimea but he doubled down on his craziness, he's now completely detached from reality (other than from his people).
And then everybody was so happy with him, that they started to believe that he was a god. After a while, he started to believe them. The rest is history.
Putin's behaviour is a classic textbook definition of _'insecure small-man syndrome.'_ He's so deeply insecure about his masculinity, he publishes bare-chested homo-erotic images of himself riding large powerful studs between his legs.
People like Putin and Xi have stepped on many toes to stay in power. He has no choice but to rule for life, unless he's prepared to lose it, or has a retirement bunker prepared in Mongolia.

@@THENETESH That works for almost anything, but I think this is way too far. This is one of the most famous conspiracy theories in Russia for the last 10 years or so. But the simplest explanation is that he had botox injections which made him look different.
He seemed honest in this, and he is right about what he is saying, that's why most democratic countries have a limited amount of terms that their leaders can have. But obviously the power and accumulation of wealth got to him.
No blaim for the people who elect him back in early 2000s The thing is, no president should keep his position for a life time. Because you'll never know how a person acts in such a position after (too) many years.
@@sarahf4.258 Apart from that, originally he came to power after the previous president retired (1999) as Putin was vice president. But a year later he won the election for the next regular period.
When one has power, one gets to decide what to do with it. Blaming "power" is letting the person not take personal responsibility for their actions. The power we, each individual, has is their behavior. No excuses. No one is perfect but must take responsibility. Our goal should be "Doing the most good for as many as possible for as long as we are able".
It's a comment on humanity as a whole. We are all corruptible. If it's not money, it's sex or drugs. It speaks more towards our need to be vigilant against our own evil as opposed to forgiving others of their sins because of this inherent fault in our system.
let me ask you this then: if you had the opportunity to steal $20 from a thousand people and you could get away with it guaranteed without repercussions, would you? how about $40? or a million people? corruption of power doesn't happen overnight, it's something that's conditioned over time.
I mean he didn't pervert this statement, he was talking about the choice to be normal or to be a ruler, which he has. He could quit today if he wanted to.
This is an old footage, Putin looks much younger here. In lieu of that, he probably meant what he said. Words and actions are two separate things for a politician.

That was a different guy back then or more likely he was going with the way the wind was blowing. Because it's apparent now that he want to return to Russia being the Soviet Union. Only this time its going to be much worse off and poorer.
If you look closely you can see him smile every time he talks about giving up power. He knew this is a lie, and he was quite amused that people believed him.
He looks quite sad now, a face full of reget probably because he knows something bad eventually will be coming his way. He won't get that ordinary or peaceful life he talks about, and he'll be carrying this beyond his grave

Monarchs today pretty much have no power. They're figureheads and ambassadors. Not dictators like this monster. Yes, there are still monarchies that wield power, but those are in the minority today.

That's certainly what Putin believes now as Russia's 21st century Tsar. Was he always that way?
He's been in office for 20 years. That's enough stress to accumulate your insanity
@@hunterofdarkness8329 To be honest though, I think he's acting here. But I agree, 20+ years in office would probably drive most people insane, especially in a country like Russia.
Try 20 years 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
in the early 2000s he wanted to get integrated in the western economic sphere... he was releasing interviews like this one and saying he believed in liberalism. he said he asked Clinton to join NATO in 2000. he set up the NATO-Russia Council in 2002.
@@Johnny_Savage Putin started his destruction in 1999 in Chechnya

Power is intoxicating it takes actual strength to surrender it
Putin's behaviour is a classic textbook definition of _'insecure small-man syndrome.'_ He's so deeply insecure about his masculinity, he publishes bare-chested homo-erotic images of himself riding large powerful studs between his legs.

People like Putin and Xi have stepped on many toes to stay in power. He has no choice but to rule for life, unless he's prepared to lose it, or has a retirement bunker prepared in Mongolia.
“At some point your term wi be over”. It’s comin buddy, don’t worry. It’s comin to an end real soon.
Well, I think now we can say that Putin has lost the right to an "ordinary" life after he loses power, if he ever does during his lifetime. You don't become a war criminal and then get to "live an ordinary life".
He is rich enough to live without a scratch 😂
Tell that to the Bush Admin officials who essentially lied the people into Iraq and Afghanistan.
@@THENETESH That works for almost anything, but I think this is way too far. If he ever loses power within Russia somehow, his successor will 100% imprison/execute him because Putin's wildly unpopular with the entire world and that will give the new guy a good start. You do lol. Ask Netanyahu, Bush...any american leader for that matter.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
It speaks more towards our need to be vigilant against our own evil as opposed to forgiving others of their sins because of this inherent fault in our system.
have you ever experienced power? let's not make statements on things we don't understand
let me ask you this then: if you had the opportunity to steal $20 from a thousand people and you could get away with it guaranteed without repercussions, would you? how about $40? or a million people? corruption of power doesn't happen overnight, it's something that's conditioned over time.
@@hmnanda it isn't what power is about though, don't replace it with money. Hitler didn't start the WW2 for profits.

So he was a liar back then, too.

Still, he somehow chose to become the monarch. Or a dictator, but that's basically just a more modern word for the traditional role of a monarch.
Monarchs today pretty much have no power. They're figureheads and ambassadors. Not dictators like this monster. Yes, there are still monarchies that wield power, but those are in the minority today.

One of the contributing factors to the fall of the USSR and the Communist Party was a long, devastating war (Soviet - Afghan war).
