    • @michaelwilson9921
      @michaelwilson9921 Месяц назад +6

      @ They refused to fold. They refused to make peace. They chose war instead. And in war, unlike in negotiated peace, one side wins and one side loses. In cooperation two sides compromise with neither getting all it desires. In war the winner wins and the loser loses. It’s binary. And Russia is winning as Ukraine is losing. Proving that the US Army was correct when in 2019 they stated that the proxy war would be at the expense of the Ukrainian people.

And the attitude of Democrats and Biden towards this issue with no dialogue with Russia for over 2 years just prolonged the conflict and made it bloodier. You have to take other powers into account, that is the only way how to manage external politics.

    The Russian army's significant losses and declining morale during World War I played a major role in triggering the Russian Revolution, as the widespread discontent among soldiers due to poor leadership, lack of supplies, and heavy casualties significantly weakened the Tsarist regime and contributed to the public's desire for change, ultimately leading to the overthrow of the monarchy in 1917

    Man I remember Kasparov warning everyone about Putin way back when. I'm not too proud to admit that I thought HE was crazy and fell for the propaganda. Even during 2014, I coped and could not reconcile the difference between what I was seeing and what I believed. Cognitive dissonance I think it's called. What snapped me out of it was the main invasion itself. Kasparov was right all along and I, like many others wasn't listening.

    Kasparov lives in a world of ideas, not in a practical political reality. It's easy for him to tell the "free world" to escalate the conflict, though harder for a politician to tell families to offer their children on the battlefield. Also, it is understandable that Europe does not want to play "Russian roulette" with Putin's nuclear arsenal. Dissing the Navalnys, who put their lives on the line, telling us that "The Russian imperial mindset is the real enemy" is distasteful. Geopolitics is all black & white with the old chess master.
