Actually, Sesame Streets' "Cracks" was not banned due to being seen as too disturbing to kids, but it got banned due to being seen by the higher-ups of PBS as both being insensitive to poor people and people living in ghettos (due to depicting a house with cracks on its walls and the short being released during a time of economic recession) as well as having the word "crack" in its title, which they thought can be mistaken by the public (especially sensitive viewers) for the show trying to push drugs.

The term "Cal Arts style" was actually coined by Ren and Stimpy creator John K in 2006 and first used in reference to The Iron Giant as its director Brad Bird was a Cal Arts alumnus. Ironically, 2 or the cartoons that get this flack come from alumni from the School of Visual Arts (SVA), Steven Universe and Gumball.

I find it odd that they associate Sandy with pride and squidward with wrath when Squidward is the one who’s extremely prideful of himself (always thinking he’s the best/better than others around him) whereas Sandy is the one who tends to have anger issues (she’s literally chased and pummeled Spongebob and Patrick down because they were taunting her).
Squidward is often played off as the antagonist character of the show because he’s prideful; letting his ego cloud his judgment.
Sandy is the one who has a short fuse. When she’s provoked, she lets her anger get the best of her. The best example was when Spongebob and Patrick were making fun of Texas (where she’s from), which she saw as a direct insult against her. As a result, she chased them down, lassoed up and destroyed Patrick, and continued to pursue Spongebob throughout the third Act of that episode.

a fun explanation for the Mandela Effect that i heard a couple years back. i think it was from a Justin Whang or ScareTheatre vid. this expert explained how the Mandela Effect is prevalent due to the flimsy nature of human memory. in it, she said "we like to think our memory is like a flash drive, that can store away memory and come back to it untouched. it's actually more like a wikipedia page, it's subject to revision". many examples of the Mandela Effect include media consumed by users when they were very young, and it's often very small details such as the difference between Berenstain and Berenstein, whether or not Curious George had a tail, etc. these are details that understandably blur over time, but rather than admit that human memory isn't perfect, we like to believe in things like an alternate universe because no one can ever be wrong.

24:51 This theory has been debunked for years, the strongest piece of evidence against the theory that it was plagiarized is that Kimba is not one main series, the main piece of media where people draw all the similarities is the 1997 movie which came a full 3 years after lion king, even if you look at the 60s series it is nothing like Lion king, kimba doesn’t ever fight claw and the main reason his dad is dead is because a hunter, there are only two hyenas in the show and they aren’t present in the majority of the series, the bird coco is not a servant of royalty and the baboon is just a father figure to kimba, lastly the dreaded name comparison is simply coincidence, Simba is the Swahili word for Lion or strength, while Kimba just means bush fire

I actually experienced the mandela effect in a way that I've never seen anyone else talk about before.
Back in the 2000's, when I was a kid, there was a commercial for some soda (can't remember which, I think it was Coca Cola). It was basically just the ending of the Spongebob episode where Sandy was introduced, but instead of her filling up Spongebob and Patrick's helmets with water, it was edited to be soda. This commercial ran so often in conjunction with the actual episode that I legitimately thought that was how the episode ended. But now, even when I search for this commercial, I can't find it anywhere. Does anybody else remember this? Am I just having false memories?
Update: I asked my older brother about this and he said he’d never seen it before. This only confuses me more, as my memory of this seems too real for it to just be my mind playing tricks on me. Any thoughts?

6:39 the short ‘O Parádivé Sally’ was a Czechoslovakian cartoon created during times when the country was part of the USSR, after its creation, the short was sold to and subsequently aired on Pinwheel, the animators had no idea where their work went, because of the regime in Czechoslovakia at the time. [GnourtOn]: watch YMS' video on kimba the lion, kimba the lion is a show with multiple versions and thousands of episodes with hundreds of different shots so of course they would have some similarities. however Kimba's values are those of veganism and treating animals all equally, while Simba's are those of the circle of life. Pretty sure that the reason simba is white on the concept art is because, well, it's concept art, they were probably at the stage of trying to figure out how he should look like and stuff, this stage usually comes before the coloring stage

What a good video, i have watched a ton of icerbergs and its actually what i watch the most on youtube and let me tell you your video is really good, despite the info being quite generic (its the first part so its expected) there were actually some points i didnt know like 2 so thats a shock outside of the iceberg itself the narration was great same with your voice tone and volume, the editing is really decent too not mind blowing but enough to be impressive from a new creator, keep going man with persistence you could totally cultivate a decent following.

I've been affected by the mandela effect as well. I remember watching the Spongebob episode " Have You Seen This Snail? " when I was younger, and I swore during the iconic scene where Squidward screams in the bathtub, he took a short breath and then continued screaming. However, that doesn't actually happen, he just breathes and stops after.

I think we have different definitions for subliminal messages.
A common example of a subliminal message is if you're watching a show and there's a quick frame of something unrelated either to control or market to someone. The things you listed were more, just subtle mature jokes.
I think what that section about subliminal messages meant was when people thought in Lion King the message SEX could be seen when in reality it was SFX.

15:17 This I never got. In Space Jam its the TUNE Squad, and Tunes always made more sense because it's a play on the original "Merry MELODIES" branding (MM branded cartoons, especially the older ones felt more musical and Disneyesque while Looney Tunes were more gag based, till eventually they gave up the distinction in the 50s)

Also, like you said, no bearing to the theory that walt disney was cryogenically frozen. But frozen wasnt named frozen to lead away from articles about walt disney's supposedly cryogenically frozen body.
The origins of this naming scheme actually start with a decision made in 2009 after the release of princess and the frog. Disney marketing department and executives believed that the movie was offputting to many audiences (the word "princess" was in the title) which set into work a few different new policies to hopefully keep disney afloat and this was one of them along with more self aware writing and no more 2D films. So projects in development like "Rapunzel" and "the snow queen" got renamed to Tangled and Frozen to appeal to more audiences

watch YMS' video on kimba the lion, kimba the lion is a show with multiple versions and thousands of episodes with hundreds of different shots so of course they would have some similarities. however Kimba's values are those of veganism and treating animals all equally, while Simba's are those of the circle of life. IIRC Kimba is also an episodic series.
YMS does a good job at debunking the claim that the Lion King copied Kimba the Lion.
Good Video other than that though.

I never really understood the whole Looney Tunes thing. I mean Tiny Toon Adventures has two O's in the name so I would have assumed their predecessors the Looney Tunes would have been the name basis.

    • @motxmod
      @motxmod 2 года назад +9

The name is a pun to the origins. Looney Tunes is named similar its sister series, Merrie Melodies. The creators of the original shorts were Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising and the older shorts were made as a parody of Disney's Silly Symphonies. Their last names were even highlighted in the opening credits to the those shorts. Most of these old shorts were just a way to add a visual accompaniment to music. Tiny Toons is only spelled differently due to it paying more lip service to the animation process.

This is sorta similar to the Mandela effect, but I once read a choose your own adventure book, (a weird american dolls one) and this one specific time, stuff started to play out differently. for the life of me I cannot remember how I got to that point, but the protagonists somehow got in a boat and went over to a different island. They had a picnic, and then went to the top of a cliff where the girl's granduncle or something scared them by crawling out of the bushes injured. They got back in the boat to go home, but then a storm appeared and everybody started panicking. I think they all made it home though. Also the girl's parents died in a storm out in water. That ending was so much more fun than all the others, but somehow I could never find it again. At this point I half-believe it was a dream, but I really feel like it was in the book.
