    The info @8:20 on the cross support lips going OVER the front/rear support bars was WRONG, at least for me. Done this way, the holes no longer lined up and I started forcing/loosening/forcing things to line up. Another vid showed the cross supports UNDER the front/rear supports….I tried it that way and everything lined up perfectly. I believe that is why at the end of your build video you found a puzzling gap.

      I also fought with that for 15 minutes. I wanted to follow the instructions and eventually decided I knew what I was doing. If you can fix cars, this was just a little speed bump to assembly.

    • @WMS507

      I also fought with that, installed the same, however do not tighten these up till you get the box there. You really need two people two lift this up cause mine the side post were tight and the box did not fit in. so I had to loosen up the sides. Almost dropped it. not worth risking damage if you drop it. I end up laying it down on the cardboard that came with slid the cart into the box, get some bolts in the top, then stood it up and finished it. far easier and no damage was done. 2024 is a tad different so have someone help you as it is kind of high to lift it in place.

      It was the other way for me. I don’t know what’s going on because mine is a 3rd gen and this guys is last gen. It seems like they are switching it back and forth. Not sure which is better but they need to be less vague and make sure the parts actually fit the way it is intended.

    I just got one in orange for $189 on Black Friday along with the Quinn master tech tool set for $300 instead of $400. I absolutely love it, but that box was a pain. Mine came with not multiple bolts pre-stripped and a lot of the holes wouldn’t line up without some force and rounding.

    9:34 as a featherweight skinnyguy, I did it solo exactly like this. Protip: Use the cardboard it shipped with to protect everything from the ground and lay the cart and top along the long side so you can slide the two halves together. WAY easier and it saves your back.

  • @collinw4122

    My chest doesn’t rest on the support rails. In fact, your video is the only one who follows the instructions correctly. The side short cross member piece is on top of the front and back ones. That being said, it creates a gap between the chest and the support rail. If rest the front and back support rails on the side ones, you fill the gap due to the thickens of the metal.

  • @emmettturner9452
    @emmettturner9452 Год назад +9

    Some versions of this cart use the longer bolts in other places (tray, handle) and inconsistently refer to them as “long bolts” while others include 4 fewer and refer to them as “castor bolts.” Also, you might find four of the locking nuts already attached to the gas struts, presumably to protect the threads. Some have that little black bag with the keys and others don’t. I just assembled an orange one and a blue one which had these differences. The last one I did had the nylon locking nuts packaged with the longer bolts and failed to distinguish them anywhere in the instructions. You couldn’t go by the hardware count to distinguish them either since they weren’t all in the bag and most had one extra, giving seemingly nonsense numbers when you try to figure which is which.

      @@Slasher4446-q3e LOL! Frustration.
      The first was a huge frustration. The second was notably different in a few ways. Both had problems with the instructions. I watched some assembly tip videos before doing the second but the differences caused even more frustration.
      I also ended up downloading newer and older versions of the manual trying to figure out the item numbers of discontinued side shelves. Got my orange and yellow shelves for $15. ;)
      Man, your name is uncanny since my twin brother and I are Julian Emmett Turner II and James Evans Turner. I go by my middle name to avoid confusion with my father and my twin brother goes by his middle name because I do. “Emmett ‘n’ Evans” rolls off the tongue better and, being twins, people are often addressing both of us. Yes, his middle name is a last name since he was named after the US Virgin Islands’ “Governor Evans” from several decades ago.

    Your gas struts are upside-down according to the instructions but it’s actually easier to assemble that way. I used a socket wrench in there and got stuck since the threaded part straightened as I tightened, pulling my wrench in line and turning the directional selection the wrong way. From there I could only loosen the nut with no clearance to remove the wrench or change the direction. I had to slip a pick in there to move the selector and even once tightened it was very difficult to remove. I’m lucky my sockets weren’t any tighter. You can put them in backwards to avoid this or if you need space in the central area when closed but they are more likely to hit screwdrivers and such in the side channels.
    There was no left side or right side of the cart until you put the box on at step 8. :) That’s where you decide which side you want the tray and handle on since the box can go on either way. The instructions already told us to put the tray on the same side as the locking swivel castors and it will tell us to do the same with the handle. So, yeah, on Step 8 the instructions should’ve clarified that the handle will also go on the swivel/tray side and made it clear that we are committing to have the handle one side or the other… since this is actually before we get to the handle step.

    Thanks for Video- my lessons learned: 1. So frustrated by drawers not opening. Turns out there is a finger bar unser each handle that U slide the right and they work just fine. 2. unit does not fully square up until near the last step when you put on the 4 inch top interior brackets. think through this and put the handle and struts on last. 3. since bolt heads are smooth, seat them and done pressure them too much from the nut side. hammer the heads in a bit if they won't seat on own. 4. note drawers will not open if top is closed.

  • @emmettturner9452
    @emmettturner9452 Год назад +4

    I’m probably going to get that impact you recommended but I don’t suggest using it with carriage bolts.
    The square part just above the threads needs to seat into the slotted hole to prevent it from turning as you tighten it down, which you can only do properly with hand tools. The paint in the holes was too thick on one of my carts which doesn’t give way for the bolt to seat/index until you start getting tight… right where an impact tool will just dent the slotted hole without aligning the square piece. Even when it fits fine you have to hold it there while tightening it down then back it off a bit so that you can align the next one. Only give the final turns when you have all four in enough to index all the carriage bolts. At that point you can use an impact but you are only half a turn or so from tight anyway.

    Mine came with holes drilled with such big offset issues that the tool chest part literally won’t rest on the cross supports. One of the drawers won’t lock because it’s bent, and the top lid was clearly bent before it was ever even packed because one of the rivets popped out and there’s like a half of a centimeter of bend behind the brackets. Really sucks because I got this for $189 as a closeout and it was the last one at the store so now I have no idea how I’m going to get a replacement. It’s a pain in the ass to have to take it back to replace. Hopefully they take care of me. otherwise I’m buying the $15 protection plan and then the second the series 3 comes out. I’m going to punch this thing with a hammer and go get the series 3 for free.
