US General 30" 5-Drawer Tool Cart 2 Year Review

Hey all, since I've had this US General Mechanics cart for so long now, I figured I'd do a long term review of it. It's been a great tool box for me and I have no regrets buying it, especially for the price I got it for. The model is U.S. GENERAL 30 in., 5-Drawer Mechanics Cart, Yellow and the SKU is 70379.

You're kind of wrong about the differences between the new and old versions. In the beginning you mentioned the only difference between yours and the new version is the color of the bolts, where your version uses chrome and the new version uses black. You didn't mention that with the new style the sliding drawer unlocking lever is the full length of the drawers instead of one little tab to the far right. Also the new one has a hole with rubber grommet under the lid for power cord access.

Didn’t know that. I actually prefer this lever mechanism though. I have the 34” full bank and the full slide lever feels cheap compared to this.

@@OgreMoto Plastic might be cheaper but there's literally no finger on the planet that could break that plastic so the durability is definitely there.

You're wrong about not being able to open the drawers while the lid is closed. Make sure the drawers are open before you close the lid. The lid will go all the way down and the drawers will not lock & you don't have to slide the latch to open them. Before loading it onto a truck just open the lid then push the drawers in 1/2" 👍
