Why use a slow cooker when you’re going to just use an oven in the end anyway?

It would have been fine with just the slow cooker, but the bread wouldn't have had a crust. I think they popped it in the oven just to form a crust so it didn't look weird.
Might as well just use the oven 😂
maybe. but if had both an oven and a slow cooker, i'd cook a roast in the oven and bread in the slow cooker. when the roast comes out, that 5-10 mins the bread goes into the oven is the same resting time as the roast. i can serve both practically at the same time.
.....looks fantastic.....but you still have to put it in the oven. If you are just proofing it and heating it, then you could just use any heating appliance....

@@gtlkthfc6741 I agree it did look dry...but I like the idea of proving it in there as being in uk it's not always ideal warmth and my cooker isn't ideal for it. So I'm skipping the 2 hours in the slow Cooker and placing it on the middle shelf in the oven....my recipe for bread slightly differs too

What was the need for a slow cooker? Just for proofing?
I see people complaining about the 5-10 minutes in an actual oven. The point of this is to crisp the bread and give it a nice crust. The receipe is still good for those short on time.

Is there a reason why the slow cooker was necessary? If it has to go into the oven to brown anyway, couldn't you just bake it in the oven to begin with so you don't have a slow cooker to clean?

Skip the cooking on high for 2 hours in the slow cooker, and just bake for a total of 20 minutes..
Ed Reid I like it because it makes your house smell so good and I have a tiny kitchen so when I’m making a meal it frees up the oven for something else.
