It's very interesting to see the latest smart watches of 2020 and compare them to the first generation ones from 6 years ago like this to see how they've evolved.
About the outdoor visibility I carried my G Watch outside on a very bright sunny day with brightness to 6 and I could clearly see what it displayed so whenever one goes out it should raise the brightness to combat that! This watch still has many bugs (dictation "can't catch that", can't reach Google bug, dismissing or answering a call bug (got stuck in that scene where if i swiped from left to right It didn't register my gesture and the red circle just stayed there) and random disconnections. Despite it's flaws IT'S AWESOME watch when it works and one has to realize that Android Wear is still in very early stage so bugs are expected since we are early adopters. :)
Love this video Josh....... Thank you so much. Even the tidbit about not using your old cuff band. When can we expect a review of the Samsung gear live?
Great watch, but after 2.5 weeks of ownership, my watch has four chips on the edges of the glass from just some light taps where it nicked the edge of a doorway and my desk. If you look at the watch its a poor design. The glass is high and at the top edge make it easy to happen. I've never had a watch do this. I even have a lense protector on it. Watch is great other than that. The Chinese $15 watch was tougher!
One week in and I'm enjoying my white version very much! Even more than I thought it would. A couple of things people may want to know though is that your phone battery will go down in about twice the usual time, so definitely make sure to charge your phone throughout the day. My lg g2 also runs quite hot at times because the watch is running off of it. Another thing to keep in mind is that you CANNOT receive text messages on this device! Well, you can but only if you use Google Hangouts. Stock sms does not send messages to the phone. And even if someone comes up with the 3rd party app I have a feeling it won't be as naturally integrated as the other Google push notifications are.
I have the original Galaxy Gear smartwatches although new are a must buy I believe for any tech enthusiasts they are unbelievable every person asks me about this tech. From the UK with love.
Been using the g watch for about a week now, great device, but two as things I've found that bug are 1) the screen scratches rather easily, making it rather unpleasant to look at after awhile 2) voice command is a little hit and miss, when replying to a text it would also be nice if I could sat a default quick response rather then what's available. But apart from that. It's a great way of getting around the work full of not having your phone out.
I always wondered if you can use the G Watch along with bluetooth headphones, since they're both paired via Bluetooth. That would actually get me to consider buying one!
You can actually do both. I have my phone paired to my watch and car when I'm on a ride and I can still use the "Okay Google" hot word while listening to music. It just pauses everything.
I bought mine on ebay for £70... I thought worse case scenario would be that I'd resell it for about the same price but it's great, teally enjoy using it
No, you can not play music on it unless you connect it to a bluetooth device. It does not have a speaker but it can use your phones speaker which means you can control music. The watch is not completely waterproof but is protected for up to 30 minutes in about 1 meter of water.
CALLS & TEXTS... Will it show the caller I'd info as saved on your phone? Give you option to answer or ignore? (Can't answer via watch, I know, I'd use earpiece) Can I reply to texts via voice through the watch? How about Google Voice based texts? Will it understand the reference to, and ingredients of, a fluffernutter? *not a deal breaker.
Fair Review. I'd buy one if the price was around $130. I like the idea but don't see the OMG I need this factor. At least not at a $200+ price for what is essentailly a showy fashion tech accessory. I own nice watches that get those kind of (impressed) looks for a lot less. I'll be waiting for this to mature.
I don't think I would even consider wearables until they become standalone devices, and even if that happens I can't see them putting a huge dent in the smartphone market.
smashbro5 Wearables aren't trying to put a dent in the smartphone market: for now, they're optional devices designed to streamline those aspects of a smartphone that occur frequently enough to warrant an easier response than whipping out your phone every time they occur (e.g. text messages, calls, setting alarms, jotting down reminders, sending a current caller to voicemail, etc.). I think the future is very bright for wearables.
Still. I want to be able to see the screen without problems outdoors. I can do this with the pebble. I am a big Apple fan, and I really like the Apple Watch. But its not waterproof, and the screen isn't always on. These things have pushed me away and made me decide to get the pebble instead. It's cheaper, fully waterproof, has an always-on, outside-readable screen, and ultimately does what is most important for me in a smartwatch----the time
The watch has a certain heft to it because it's constructed of stainless steel, plastic and glass; not just plastic and glass. Funny how almost all the reviews fail to fact-check this.
As a former watch wearer, I don't think I'll ever wear any kind of watch again. I've always wanted to simplify life, and having a smartphone is good enough.
Very informative review. I agree with you in that I don't think a smart watch is for everyone just yet. However Android wear is a good place to start. As far as the LG Gwatch goes I don't like the design. I think the moto 360 has done a far better job. It's simply far more aesthetically pleasing than the Gwatch. Keep the great video reviews coming 👍
Yeah, you can't see it in the sunlight so you just have to put your hand over it to see it, that's great if you're riding a bicycle or a motorcycle. If this wasn't such a HUGE issue I would of bought this watch instead of the Sony Smart watch 2 for only $140.
the pebble steel is my preferred watch. its a smart watch in desguise. looks a lot better. its more durable and its rated 5 ATM so you can swim and shower with it. and the battery on it owns any other watch on the market. Nd simple cable for charging.
At some point I'll probably get a Android smart watch. But the deciding or at least the preeminent factor will be the sensors it has for measuring health. So far the Samsung is better since it has a heart rate monitor and is less expensive to boot. The only advantage the LG appears to have at this point is a better charging method.
can I connect it to a Bluetooth headphone and play music or its just like remote for the mobile?? can i store photos in it and display them with zooming??
I'll stick with my samsung gear 2 until there are android wear devices with camera hardware and can I make a phone call using this or the samsung gear live android wear devices?
The problem with this tech is that its simplistic and redundant while being inferior to a smartphone- which it ironically has to be paired with. I get it though, there is always a market out there for new tech, regardless of how unnecessary it actually is.
I have a LG G3 currently I have the original Pebble watch still trying to decide on android wear or not, I would like the Moto 360 but since there is no release date I gave up trying to wait for it to come out. should I just stick with my pebble or is it worth getting android wear? and if so should I get a most useful practical watch the LG G watch with a charger that is not stupid. or go with something that looks good and has a rubbish charging system?
A 100% fair review. Good work, Josh!
When he said " ok Google " Google now opened on my phone lol!

Love this video Josh....... Thank you so much. Even the tidbit about not using your old cuff band. When can we expect a review of the Samsung gear live?
Good review bur the wait continues for the real deal.. Hope the Moto 360 is everything it is hyped up to be!

Congrats on this! Great review!
Wow fantastic review!!!... Plus you got a great voice... With that voice and your tech knowledge your going places... Thanks.
If my LG phone is encrypted will the G watch sync to it?
so nostalgic...
just one question. Ive been trying to download apps to my watch, with not much success. Could u give me some tips?
5:18... "OK Google" always interrupts lol.
I have the original Galaxy Gear smartwatches although new are a must buy I believe for any tech enthusiasts they are unbelievable every person asks me about this tech. From the UK with love.
I need this for my LG V20

This would pair nicely with my G3 but the Moto 360 is tempting! :/
same here. Moto 360 is just so... sleek and AH-mazing (the looks though)! xO
Love mine got it from day one
Works great with my lg g flex
Can't wait for your gear live review

Still using this until today
Great review, Thanks!
You activated Google Now on my phone when you said "Ok Google" in the video. Lolz.
Where's the signature ' what's going on everybody?' come on Josh. Bring it back.
I bought mine on ebay for £70... I thought worse case scenario would be that I'd resell it for about the same price but it's great, teally enjoy using it
It's on sale for $179 in the play store until the 23rd :)
few questions:
1. can you play music with it?
2. is it waterproof?
plz answer :)
No, you can not play music on it unless you connect it to a bluetooth device. It does not have a speaker but it can use your phones speaker which means you can control music. The watch is not completely waterproof but is protected for up to 30 minutes in about 1 meter of water.

wonder to see if Apple will release a watch.
Shocksta1234 it's hilarious, right now they're trying to sue samsung for copying them when they copied other companies smart watches😂
amazing how these comments age.

It's not a nice watch if it's less than a grand. Imo
They are sold almost everywhere on much lower prices than the play store price.
Silent_R493 they are now $99 and they give you $50 google play credit
LG G Watch on Amazon right now for $100! just ordered one.
is samsung gear live only for samsung devices?
and lg g watch is for every android right?
Zachary Kew-Denniss noticed you feature in the video!
Oh my days!
they should add a front camera to make it look like the sci-fi watches back in the day
As always I enjoy your videos. Thanks

Does it have MP3 capabilities on it or only connected to the phone?
Looks really nice and perfect for its price! Planning on getting one next month :)

Great video and unbiased. As those are the important things to me. Keep it up!!

Is the Gear Fit compatible with the LG G 3?

Potentially switching from droid maxx with active notifications to lg g3. Thinking the watch might ease the transition. Thoughts?

Looks very unimaginative. No thought whatsoever went into the styling of this product.
