I do my oil changes myself as well, but an old driver told me to fill out with oil first the oil filter. I really cant see that option doable since the oil filter comes head in from the top. I see you as well didnt put any oil in the oil filter and wanted to make sure that this is the right way. Thanks and Merry Christmas🎄
Filling up oil in oil filters that does not apply for dd15 motors, cuz it has paper filters, as soon as you pour oil in oil housing it’s going straight to the block, it works only for metal oil filter.
Definitely appreciate the video. Definitely took note of the oil and fuel filter change. Will have to revisit for all the grease points. Got a new sub here since I plan on picking up a Cascadia in the coming days
Great video. Few tips. Use only OEM fuel filters. Had a problem recently with aftermarket filters. Didn't fit quite right. Also grease the fuel filter bottoms liberally and torque to spec & mark the position. I was just freehanding it before trying to be careful because they're plastic but the smaller filter cap needed replacing ($86) due to over tightening. Remember these hard plastic caps are getting old & brittle. I use a rubber band & a coffee filter on the tip of the bottle after I siphon some fuel & reintroduce into the filter cavities. Also theres 4 more grease points. 2 on each side of the fifth wheel pivot. They're usually caked up with mud & crud. Wipe down those nipple tips before greasing so as not to introduce dirt & grime.
Here is what i do to make it easier then this guy. Get your self two $3 5 gallon buckets from walmart along with two 5 gallon oil buckets from Walmart. Also get a easy drain oil tap installed on your cascadia, this will let you open and close the oil drain plug with no mess like a water faucet. Open fill plug grab your bucket drain and close the tap until all oil is gone. Fill oil but keep the old 5 gallon bucket. Next time you change the oil you will use those two old oil bucket as old oil storage so you can transport them to your nearest AutoZone to get rid of them. Zero mess and you wont need a oil catch pan. Or you wont need to lift or drive your cascadia over wooded blocks. With this method I could change the oil faster on my truck than I could on my car.
Thanks for the advise, but I found this the easy way for me and if you could notice I did not had any oil spills either, also I do have oil drain plug on my oil pan.
I have a lot of tools at the house, but I don’t carry it all with me, next time I will make a video about the truck I will try to include a small clip what tool every owner op need to carry with him. Thanks for comment

I bought mine with no records with 640k miles, it ran really good until 980k miles until one injector got stuck in open position, so in the morning my truck didn’t want to start cuz of no fuel pressure, i was on the road so I found a diesel shop and one of the Machenics came out to look at it and he decided to start it with engine starter, and the motor just took off, until it blow up💥so after that I do everything g my self.
With prices going up and up.. A typical dd15 oil change at the big shops are approx $530.00. doing your own maintenance gives you a heads up by reducing maintenance cost..
That oil drain valve is installed with an adapter? And where did you buy it? I bought Fumoto T211 from Amazon but not sure if I need an adapter as well. I have the same kind of an engine. Thank you
Just with oil change it will not effect how your truck will start after the change, some guys will use starting fluid to start the truck after the fuel filter change, I will highly recommended not to use any starting fluids on Diesel engines, if you do the job wright and prime the system like you should it will start no problem, Diesel engine can cause diesel run away witch will blow your motor, be really careful with that stuff
