If the guy was cheating where would the comm device go? In his shoes? In his pen? Up the doo-dah? In his "pace maker"? Beltbuckle? Etc etc...

Wild and absolutely baseless accusations. Innocent until proven guilty
@@-andreiDNA Wild, yes. Innocent, maybe in criminal law. He has admitted to cheating before, no maybe not so wild
Criminal law requires more proof, civil law only a "preponderance" of evidence.
A score of 100 on consecutive games is rare. Is this guy better than Kasparov and Fisher?
In the long run technical devices will be uncovered, and he will lose, not only games.
Technically it is not hard to make a buzzer that will signal the next move. Delay transmisson of the board one or two moves to foil a feedback device.

@@Piccodon "Criminal law requires more proof, civil law only a "preponderance" of evidence." Maybe in your retard country.
That being said he may be a cheater and i dont really care if he gets convicted in the end or not but that statement of yours was beyond retarded.
The same goes for your computer statement. They have been beaten before and they will be beaten again. In the end, even a computer has limitations. The reason why magnus etc are not interested in playing against a computer is because its a different type of chess and not really chess anymore and then its also not even against a fellow human anymore. Magnus has stated hes not interested in dealing with machines as its not chess.
And people say this is a scandal? This was hardly Magnus playing at his best level. He made at least 2 big mistakes and Niemann response was not perfect as well. These guys are all within the top 100 in the world. All it takes is one bad day for the top 50 to beat the top 1.
Like moist said, didn't he claim in an interview to have studied Carlsens opening, which he's only played once before? That doesn't make any sense.
@@nwesterbeckmaster well moist also doesn't think he cheated. The way it Hans described is was he just happened to study that line but a different variation which is kinda odd

From what i can see the game is fairly balanced until Magnus moves g4 and then the advanced pawns allow for some tactics. If players make inaccuracies then thats it. Magnus allowed the tactics. If your opposition plays an inaccuracy it's simply that.

@@KikaSudios123 It's hard to justify leaving an entire tournament because of one loss in which there is a balanced position and you make a poor move leading to a loss. I recently watched a portion an online-irl game between Hans and Magnus in which Hans played a machine game. This game is nothing like that at all.
I think Magnus also played aggressively sacking the pawn by moving it to c4 when I think this specific situation called for a passive defense in rc1. Magnus just hates playing passively like that, but Niemann didn't have anything concrete at that moment, although he was slightly better, but he would have had to prove it which would have been hard. Niemann definitely could have played this game even though it was a very strong game. Magnus didn't play his best game here.
It was a well fought game by Hans. I know no one will get this reference but anyone who followed the competitive CSGO community back in like 2014-2017 will know about how there was a massive cheater witchunt thing going on that reminded me a lot of what happened to Niemann. As far as I can understand from all the post game analysis out there it was not as much a particularly brilliant game by Hans that won it. It was due to a sub par performance by Magnus, which in my book makes it a little challenging to put it down to cheating.
The fact that Magnus then quit the next game after 2 moves by Hans (which I belive copied the two first moves Magnus played against Hans in this game) just supports that Hans now has the upper hand mentaly speaking.

Only time will tell if he is cheating. If he is not he should take it as the greatest compliment one can get. The problem is that he has been caught cheating online, admitted to it.... And then lied about how often he actually did it. So now he is a known cheater AND a liar. The lying was recent too, like his most recent public comments about how much he cheated online. So his track record isn't great and he absolutely deserves greater scrutiny. Chances are that even if he was cheating he wouldn't cheat perfect with the best moves, and he doesn't seem to be perfect overall. So that could mean he is a good cheater or a really good player. Not that I’m really in a position to criticize Magnus Carlsen’s play, but it seems like he just shot himself in the foot here. He wasted a few moves attacking pawns with his rook after exchanging queens and trading off his light square bishop, and all of those pawns were ultimately safe in the long run. I don’t think he was expecting Hans to play Be6 in response to his attack on the queen, but that’s not even an especially hard move to find. Responding to attacks with attacks of your own in an even position is exactly the type of move a human would play. We don’t need a chess engine to explain how Hans found that move. Unless he has some actual evidence I think the way he has handled this situation has been somewhat irresponsible. I know Hans has apparently admitted to cheating online in the past, and I get why that probably stained his view of him and made him suspicious. But it is no less irresponsible for someone with as big a platform as Magnus has to insinuate that one of their opponents cheated without any substantive evidence to that effect. Or at least without any publicly available evidence anyway. I suppose it remains to be seen if he has good reason to believe it himself.
so this is the legendary game. Over the table in an arena with security and cheating detection assistance. How was it possible that Hanz cheated under these circumstances? Were there implications of anal assisted devices? He played a great and fair game.

Same, super disappointed in the chess word right now. Sport filled with nerds, where is everyone to pour over the evidence?
@@BenjaminWeeb I've seen so much discussion on this topic on twitch and even Elon musk tweeting about the shit yet I've yet to see any video of the situation actually happening. Where are all these people coming up with their opinions?! Must just be a bunch of followers being parrots I guess not able to think for themselves, which isn't actually surprising these days.
@@MikeTython369 Completely agree! There should be hours of footage of the event. The interviews. The accuracy for the board. Plus all of the games Hans played that year. There's a mountain of data, for a sport for data nerds and all we hear about is the drama?

Alternative title: Stockfish vs Magnus
Good stockfish =))
I mean... just look at the eyes of Niemann. Something is obviously up.
Why does he keep looking strait ahead to the left? Especially when trying to figure out the next move... Incredibly suspicious.
Just watch from 5:34. There is something off to his left, that has his attention. His eyes repetitively take quick darts to whatever is over there. Instead of even paying attention to the game. And while he looks down at the pieces, his eyes keep darting over to whatever is over there. Makes no sense.
And this constantly is going on, every time its his turn, from the very start of the match.
At 7:58 Magnus stands up with the black pawn of Hans in his hand - could it be that Magnus is a bad looser ?
Chess: babies first RTS. Go play AOE3 or Starcraft, kids.
0:05 thats where the device is hidden, planted in the cup mat
the pen is also different
Lol ok. I'm sure he's also got a chip in his head and the moves are being beamed directly into the brain via a orbital satellite Hans launched out of his own backyard a week prior.
that is the oddest behavior, to take a sip, screw the cap on, put the bottle under the table, then bring the bottle and mat up at the same time, and place on the table at the same time.
That is not normal behavior at all
What I find interesting is both of their body languages. Carlsen seem very focused on the board and game and hardly raises his eye to Niemann. Meanwhile Niemann seems to focus on some point off in the distance away from the board (and keeps sipping) then suddenly looks down and play his move. Two very distance behaviors. I can only assume this is their normal demeanor!?!?
this means nothing
@@thasky504 I'd say it means quite a lot, unless he sees chess pieces on the wall, as per Beth Harmon, unless thats his normal demeanour.

@@JulmaKulma688 rook d7 followed by bishop d5 makes double on attack on the f7 pawn and the rook on c4.
Magnus gets forked at 4:40
Where can someone find a link for the official match videos?
Lets be fair. At the 3:43 mark Magnus Carlsen does NOT play the best move. The move "G4" is considered by the computer to be the WRONG move in that position! At the 3:49 mark it is Hans Niemann who plays the wrong move with his knight and Magnus has (almost) equalized. At the 3:30 mark, Magnus again plays the wrong move, and this time it is a BIG mistake! To make matters worse, at the 3:53 mark, Magnus make´s a BIG mistake again, and in a very poor position. From here on, the game is lost for white, with correct play from black. But Nieman does not play the best moves either, even in a WON position so WHERE did Hans Niemann cheat? It was Magnus who (for once) played beyond his normal standard throughout the game.............
@Peter Pepperman Yeah, he CLEARLY cheated and EVERYONE knows it. BULLSHIT. If not, then tell me EXCACTLY how he did it. And give me irrefutable proof, that can not be discussed. Show me and I will believe it. I am waiting for you answer.
They say Stockfish is stronger than Carlsen.
Hans Niemann didn't play like Stockfish. Looked pretty standard to me. Carlsen just made a bunch of uncharacteristic Inaccuracies.
Sorry, you can't make me feel sorry for Hans getting accused. We may never know if he cheated but this could all have been avoided if he had a good reputation of NOT cheating.........LIKE ALL THE OTHER CONTESTANTS.
No cheating. I like Magnus but he made mistakes.
What is the name of the song that starts at 1:55? I just can't find it
Quiero saber
I'm shocked that their are people who actually believe this clown. Just the fact that he refused to give an interview after beating the world #1 heavily points to cheating, because he obviously can't back up his strategy or moves for that matter, hence the whole chess speaks for itself nonsense. It speaks for itself, because he's incapable of talking about his match and showing his work so to speak and the logic behind the moves he made. He couldn't even explain the moves he made at a later time when interviewed about it... how much more proof do you need. It would be like getting a perfect score on the SAT and when someone wants you to answer multiple questions that you answered correctly, you can't answer any of the questions that you got correct.
Imagine any match or competition, sport etc, where an underdog beats the favorite... they're beyond excited and are excited to talk about their preparation, their strategy and how they did it... that is unless they cheated and can't back up the game that they just played. There's absolutely no doubt. There's 100% chance that he cheated and just that fact alone proves it. But you can add in all the shady aspects to this guys past... his fake accent. He's a total fraud. Based on his inability to even talk chess strategy tells me he's not even a legit Grandmaster and has possibly cheated all along to get Grandmaster status.
ur getting played by magnus LOOOOL
what if he is memorizing thousands of AI paths and while not cheating; simply cant explain the strategy? still not cheating just an unusual technique
if you listen very closely....
You can hear the chess speaking for itself.
Can someone tell me where the point is that Hans doesn't look nervous enough.
0 - 8:42
Novice wonders why they write down each move.
Both players keep a record of the game. It helps prevent cheating in case pieces are knocked over. It also gives them a way to study possible variations after the game. I think they sometimes sign their names and exchange them after a good game, but I’m not certain.
@@miura_vs Thx I was wondering
Hans manipulates the chess player not the chess itself. Egoist 💯 (confessing is a strat) chess is not all about gameplay is also about mental.

Technically Magnus is correct when he said that Hans cheated, because Hans did cheat ... when he was a kid.
exept that he never said that lol
Is there a reason why there's a beat in the background? When you're analyzing a scandal or a potential scandal you definitely want the experience with the audio, not some goofy beat in the background that sound's like a B rate porno, but I digress.
A bit suspicious that Niemann is looking up and to the left during his moves instead of looking at the board
no it's not. GMs do stuff like that all the time
I think the ones clinging to Magnus are afraid that the young inevitably beat the older, Feliks zemdegs cheated by lying about his Rubik's solve times when he was younger, he still eventually was world champ back to back.. and now even younger solvers beat him..
So if I lie about my level in chess, then I will become world champion 👍
Aaaand he is confirmed to be a cheater
@@G-ManXErlik only when he was younger through online, not in person. Exactly similar to my example that still holds up 11 months later. Hans is going to continue mastering his craft as he's still very young.
For all the people commenting about Magnus lack of expression, well try playing against a computer on the hardest difficulty. That's called resignation. any type of play that you set up in your head gets crushed by a single move that is best counter there is.

Hans clearly has something in his mouth. Once you reach that conclusion, it's impossible to unsee. At 8:00, once Magnus leaves the board, literally the first thing Hans does is very subtly swallow. You can see him working his mouth for several seconds.
