I’m a bit surprised that any of the buildings on this site escaped the U.S. ‘carpet ‘ bombing of the north during the war. Especially considering their military importance.

Very true. I think there's been some restorations done so they look better these days, but I don't actually think US commanders ever quite realised the Politburo and the military chiefs met at the Citadel, so it wasn't bombed that much.

U missed out the Co Loa Citadel. Co Loa Citadel (Dong Anh - Hanoi) has been long for 2000 years. At that time it was Lac Viet (Vietnam till this day) Way before the BC. Highly recommend u this location

War has taken away a lot of our architecture. In the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in the past, there were tall palaces that are now only ruins and the architecture is also smaller, uglier and not true to the past.😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥

Yes, it's had an incredible impact across the world - very sad sometimes. Thanks for watching!

@@WorldHeritageJourneyit’s extremely sad, many were destroyed by the wars, the US bombed hue citadel, at least thang long is not fully in ruins but is still standing and alive.
