  • This week I managed to make a lot of progress on the 67 Mustang. I Worked on removing the old floor support and repaired the rusted lower frame rail. Then I managed to install the new floor support on the passenger side. It was a little tricky to get everything lined up, but the laser level helped a lot.

I like to show the struggles that most channels make look easier than they really are. I build our cars inside my garage with the limited tools I have available. I hope you still find my failures entertaining and have a great day!

You have condemned a grinding rock disk. This is not a cutoff disk!! This disk is designed for grinding only.

I’m impressed by the progress you’ve made. My first impression of the car was WTF! Where do you even start? You’ve made a believer out of me. What a great project.

Had to stop by and let you know what a cool channel this is. I stumbled across you while looking for plans to build a wooden bench press. I am 16 and just getting into fabrication in order to build out a drift car, and this channel has the perfect content.

Like Gary said ,that is not a cut off wheel, used for grinding or smoothing. Look at warnings on wheel sticker.

Good Stuff! Concerning cut-off wheels, buy industrial ones from like Granger etc. NO Harbor Freight Chyna crap. I had one grenade on me and blew up. So glad you are wearing a shield, smart man!!!!!! Thanks for sharing and cheers and blessings from Motown/Dearborn.

It’s not the cut off wheel it’s you angling or putting pressure on the wheels . I’ve used all kinds and none stand up to lateral force while cutting

When ya use a cut-off wheel to ummm, cut-off stuff, it will generally do a half-decent job...
But when you use a cut-off wheel to umm, grind out spot welds??? Let's just say YMMV!
(I'd suggest using a proper grinding disc to gouge out the spot welds, and keep your cut off wheel(s) for cutting stuff off)
The fact that somehow, you've been able to be "LUCKY" with De-Walt cut off wheels doesn't make it right...
Other than a hammer (we all know that EVERY tool has a 'hammer-end' on it), I'd recommend using each tool for its intended purpose and in the way it was intended to be used.

Why bother taking the floor support off like that? Why not just cut the floor support and the frame at the same time?

what's your source for measurements? do you have some original specs, or are the measurements taken before you start cutting original metal.
