Hey guys she is considered to be THE QUEEN OF BLUE-EYED SOUL!!! You guys need to listen to her and Rick James Fire and Desire!!
The 80’s was nothing. Your generation is nothing. That’s all y’all use to do was ride around and get drunk all day, and listen to stuff like this .. Really? The 80’s was nothing. Then y’all sit up and drunk reminisce, old school Sunday and tell a bunch of lies, like we missed something. The 80’s was nothing!
My all time favorite song
@@yo3rdtier128 bro you good?
@@cianosullivan4096 LOL
@@yo3rdtier128 Yeah the 70’s was better and Teena was around in the 70’s
THAT IS LADY T!!!! These youngsters today don't know what they missed. Teena is a TRUE VOCALIST! I will always adore her and she has a PERMANENT place on my Playlist.
We miss you VANILLA CHILD
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
She is a staple In r&b soul community. You ain’t had no party or cookout without teena. She is the flex

@@jerseygirl6221you ain’t lying Lol
The flex for real ….my mother would put her on to help me sleep when I was a child ..Portuguese love ❤
Vanilla Child ❤️❤️❤️
She is proof that Soul is colour blind. Teena also played 10 instruments. Soul on 2 little feet Lady T rocking it🥰
Wow!
Correct, she born with it in her dna.
Teena described herself once as a black girl in white skin.
Nah that's cap she was a anomaly tye exception don't make the rule she was born with a that special gift and she was drawn to black culture even at a early age something tells me she had some black ancestry to be honest you know when someone is faking and she definitely was not it was natural for her like a moth to flame
@@calvinbrown2822 look up Taylor Dayne
Lady T can sing her ass off. I saw her in concert with Rick James at the Oakland Coliseum, what a concert! Her and Rick sang the hell out of the song Fire and Desire. Her and Rick left us way to soon. Both of them RIP🙏
Agree blow your mind
Oakland...saw so many concerts over there ...so sad there and SF is such a shithole now ...
She should have had a much more success!
God rest your soul Lady T! You left us too soon! And y’all are killing the soul train line. Big Momma going have y’all setting it off at the family reunion next year lol!
YES INDEED! I saw them there too...real music days!
This showcases her blend of lyricism and vocals when rap and hiphop were still emerging on the radio.
Even her last 3 albums on No Limit records before she passed away were fire! They were all written composed and produced by her.
Lmao I didn’t know she was on No Limit
When was she on No Limit? So was on Cash Money thou
Her 2004 La Doña and 2006 Sapphire albums were released under Cash Money record label.
@DEADIKATED Yep in 2004 she released 2 albums under Cash Money record label.
As a 52 year old man from Chicago it’s good to see you fellas listening to some legendary old school!🔥💯 Had to subscribe after that Soul Train line at the end 😅
No doubt I’m 58 this takes me back to High School
Lol me too! So good to see! 😂
I know Teena Marie's god son she trained him on piano and he performes all over the world.
I'm 54 years old and this song came out when I was in the 6th grade! 😃
Gen X and Chicago in da house 🏠
I am a fan of TEENA. She was awesome at hee times. Much respect. 🙏🙏❤❤
TEENA MARIE (1956-2010) was a brilliant R&B, Funk and Jazz vocalist and musician. You should check out "Lovergirl", "Behind The Groove", "Ooo La La", "I Need Your Lovin'", and her soulful hits with Rick James "Fire And Desire" and "Sucker For Your Love". R.I.P. "Lady T". 💙
Didn't see your comment till after I commented on "LoverGirl".. " LoverGirl " The jam!!
AMEN 🙏🏽
@@tracymcnair1303 De Ja Vu. My all time favorite. I listen to it all the time
“It must be magic”
If I we’re a bell…. My personal fav! Teens was a gem.
Saw her in a live concert here in Chicago a few years prior to her passing 😢😢😢..she SANG! Played drums, keyboard AND Guitar!! What a treat!! Gone but certainly not forgotten!😌

@Butter Bean Absolutely!
RIP Teena gone to soon
Listen, Teena Marie was our girl!! We loved her! We called her our blue eyed soul sister. So glad to see you guys discovering such great music! Check out her other music😎👍🏾
I get choked up listening to this. It brings back great memories of house parties and late nights at the club. Teena was everything. Rest In Peace dear angel. ❤
I feel you. I thought I was the only one that choked up listening to this music. Reminiscing about those days. Music was so much fun. It made you want to dance, the sounds, the lyrics, the instruments, the vocals. Everyone United. Just Love❤
Was choking up while scrolling and saw your post! The memories!
ALL OF HER SONGS ARE AMAZING!!!! Portuguese Love is my #2 favorite of hers... man I miss those days!
This was a period in time when good music was good music. It didn’t matter who was making it or dancing it. Nobody was “cancelling” bc of appropriation. Thanks for the hits Teena. RIP.💝
Teena didn't have to appropriate; she was the real deal -- square biz!
Square Biz, baby!
Teena was on Soul Train about 13 times; other white artists appear one time, then bounce once they gain traction with the mainstream audience (Christian Aguilera, New Kids on the Block immediately come to mind). All this appropriation business came along in the 90s, when white artists figured out that pretending to be R&B was the ticket to mainstream; this during a time when R&B was pretty much mainstream. It was also a time when it was cool to be Black. But then gangster rap took over (pushing to the side conscious rap); slut rap entered the chat (Trina, and Cardi-B, Glorilla, etc); then came the drill music -- which I call 'kill music'. And the men rap in sticcato. It's no longer cool to be back. Hell, even the Kardashians know that now which is why they got ride of their BBL's, and Kim dated a white guy named Pete Davidson. You hardly ever see any white R&B artist now. But I thank the Creator for blessing us with this Vanilla Child, because her and Rick gave the Black community some great music, and very fond memories -- and that's square biz for ya, baby! LMAO.
@Swan Noir EXACTLY! Definitely had frauds back in the day but T wasn't one of them!
Oh my god, y’all cry about cancelling when it was alive and well back then too 😂😂😂 it was called “blacklisting” and if they thought you were a communist, you couldn’t work at all.
You guys are young, but Teena had us up & jammin in the 80's, BEST of times!! This song got EVERYONE up & movin!! Your buddy on the left totally feeling it! God Bless Her!
The Queen Of Ivory Soul Most People Thought She Was Black When She First Came Out In 1979 She's A Beast She Produced And Wrote All Of Her Music R.I.P
Same thing happened when Mariah Carey first came out
@@mayankingrevisited8815 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
@@mayankingrevisited8815 well Mariah is black, not the same thing.
@@POPJack1717 If you didn't see the vision of love video you didn't know what ethnicity she was
Wrong Rick James didn't discover Teena she was already signed by Motown in 1976 they didn't start working together until 1979
This never gets old!! Still jamming to this in 2024!!
Teena wrote produced and arranged most of her music. She plays the guitar, bongos, piano and more. She has 13 albums to her credit.
Teena is R&B royalty! She performed, wrote, produced and arranged virtually all of her own music. She has recorded with Rick James, Snoop Dogg, Faith Evans, Gerald Levert, and Kurupt among many others. She recorded for Motown, Epic, Cash Money, and Staxx. She even had a bill passed in Congress protecting recording artists from record companies from financially exploiting musical artists! Respect this woman she’s a legend! She is the Ivory Queen of Soul! She is in a league all her own and should never be described as “blue eyed soul” because she is beyond that nonsense! Fun facts: Teena is considered one of the first female rappers and she is godmother to Minnie Ripperton’s daughter Maya Rudolph! Do your homework people, Teena has always made phenomenal contributions to the music industry. Her music hadbeen sampled many times. Read the poetry on the back of her album covers; her words are lyrical genius. Her daughter Alia is also in music too!
In my Isaac Hayes voice - "You daaamn right !!" You can say it again for the people lost in the Niggara Murrdara Music bubbles
Legend. If you really want to understand her greatness, listen to "Out On A Limb"
Wow just said that was my favorite... that song is deep
My favorite song by her..Lady T is the truth❤
And Ooh La La La
Yeah! That's my favorite Teena Marie song
Fa real my favorite!
Lady T with that soulful voice!! Great hits from her !! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽❤✨🎵✨

Tina was a beast!!! 🔥🔥 The Music Industry wasn't ready for her!!
They definitely wasn't ready for her and another one was Lisa Stanfield them two right there oh My Goodness Oh my Lord I was totally in Love
They wasn't ready at all
Listen….. I am so thankful I was able to see Lady T at the Jazz In The Garden down here in Miami before she transitioned 🕊️. She was AMAZING! I’m so happy I was born when I was born to know if real music and LEGENDS! I’m glad you guys are listening to real music.
Awh man. She’s incredible! She plays multiple instruments with so much soul and funk
Glad you all are listening to this! A new generation paying attention. We used to dance to this!
RESPECT FOR THIS ONE YOUNGINGS... Square Biz is like saying NO CAP these days

58 year old man from London uk 🇬🇧 she was part of my growing up and introducing me to the disco/soul/funk scene I was a 15 year old in 1980 but looked a little bit older so as it wasn’t that strict back then I use to get into the clubs and that was my introduction to the soul/funk scene and to this day I still love the music 🎶 the Brit funk groups like light of the world, incognito,hi tension, funkapolitan, second image etc and of the great artists from across the pond Frankie Beverly and maze sos band and Stevie Arrington and slave,Alexander O’Neil and Luther vandross !! And of course teena Marie this sound still sounds refreshing as it did all these years ago!! Boys thanks for uploading this and good luck 👍
I love to see the younger generations hear old school jams for the first time and really enjoy the music as much as we did👍🏽
Tina Marie was and is THE BEST TO THE DO IT!! And was as Beautiful as Talented ❤️❤️🌹🌹R.I.Paradise
Fire and Desire will blow your Minds, one of the best songs in History
💯
Yes, indeed.
That song "Happy" 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank yall for keeping the queen alive!!!!!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 RIP TEENA MARIE
Known as The Ivory Queen of Soul! She's my ABSOLUTE favorite female artist! Continue to Rest, Lady T!❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
I know I so miss her ❤️
Vanilla child
LOVED Teena Marie back in the day! I wore my Teena album out! The whole “It Must Be Magic” album was great! 💖
Next from Teena Marie do "I Need Your Lovin' " and "Portuguese Love." She was so amazing, my theory why she wasn't a bigger star was she wasn't that beautiful or sexy-looking. Incredible voice and talent. Died way too young. Thanks for playing this! Now let's hear some Robert Palmer, "Simply Irresistible!"
@ Mary Goodson Ms . Marie was very alluring and sultry to my eyes , I think she was ahead of her time in terms of being able to appeal to what was at the time known as "black radio " as a non black artist . Ms. Marie will forever be considered an R&B legend who could hold her own with her contemporaries , that said making more "pop " style songs may have gained her more mainstream success but could have possibly diluted her music . Now bring on Robert Palmer , the first Power Station album is still in my rotation .
The music business establishment wants to keep black and white people separated. They won't support a white woman signing anything other than pop or country. Tina was too great to completely silence but they held her way back.
Portuguese in love me and my wife’s favorite TM song
@SunFlower State of Mind Some Like It Hot is a jam!
Naw. Teena said the label wanted to turn her into something she wasn't, and she wasn't going for it. They wanted to make her into a pop chick, but soul and R&B was where her heart was. She refused to compromise -- or 'sell her soul', and I respect her for that.
She told the story of Fire & Desire... she was running a 103 degree fever when she and Rick James recorded that song.. she is a LEGEND... now and always. 💜💜💜💜💜💜
I heard Rick James told her that if she didn’t get to the studio “Right now” (even though she was sick), he would get someone else for the duet. So she got down there and a classic was made. She’s a legend indeed.
I missing seeing her at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in Hollywood on Sunset and Gower...upstairs enjoying her meal. She was always nice and pleasant...R.I.P. Ms Marie.
Y’all are hilarious.. I love Teena Marie a legend in her own right! All her songs are Hittin . There will never be another like her . RIP Teena Marie. Thanks for sharing.
Mannnnnn!!. I love the reaction of these young brothers especially the bro on the end Nike Jersey 🤣🤣
This is classic man!
They made me enjoy her music all over again and I'm in my 40ies 🤣🤣 Yall are intelligent brothers to wannta reach bk and enjoy classic good👍🏽 music.....Square biz!

Lotsa babies were ordered while Portuguese Love was playing...

Great song!
back in the day, you HAD to be able to sing (no auto-tune!) and artists that were already famous would bring new talent along. And all the musicians are actually playing their instruments, the band is as amazing as Teena!
I grew up with music when it wasn’t auto tune it was voice…
I was 20 years old when this song came out, I’m 63 now. This was in every club in the 80’s. So fun to dance to. Tina Marie has a lot of great songs. Glad to see you enjoying it.
Her daughter sounds great as well ... One of my favs 🦋🪄🦋
Thnx for expanding your intellect thru Muzik 🪄💫🪄
Teena - the absolute GOAT!! So glad you've discovered her! Outstanding talent and some of the funkiest tunes of ALL TIME!! I can still listen to I Need Your Lovin' and still hear new things after 40 years - the production is THAT GOOD. Genius-level music and pure feelgood. The best.
This lady made nothing but classics...Rest Easy Lady T
Ya'll need to listen to all her music!!!! She is a legend and is the Blue eye soul sista of my time.
The goose bumps hit like a freight train when she hit that first note.
So refreshing to see young people appreciating the music from our time .Don’t sleep on Tina..
Teena's duet with Rick James of Fire and Desire is actual fire and I think you'll love it! She also has another duet with Gerald Levert called A Rose By Any Other Name that is great too. Teena was one of my favorite singers back in the eighties and we lost her way too soon at the age of 50. I even heard one of her hits on the overhead music when I was in Target the other day.
I loved watching you guys experience TM ! I was 22 years old when I went to her concert in Fresno California. 1982. It was by far my favorite concert ever! And the 80's had so much amazing talent. I always thought she was so unrated. Amazing performance!!!🎤
Love seeing you young one listening to Teena Marie. I shared this on fb. Rip Teena Marie true legend
LOVERGIRL from Teena is a Banger !!!
Teena Marie was the ish!! Square Biz was my jammy jam!! May she continue to RIP.....
Yes!! Miss Tina Marie definitely got soul in her.
Love her. More Tina please!🙌🏻
Love watching you young brothers vibe out to 80s jams.
Teena Marie voice was unmatched when you hear that beautiful voice you know who it belongs to. RipOriginalLadyT 😇🥰🕊🙏🏾
Teena was the real deal! Hung out with black folks and was always invited to the BBQ. Musical genius!! ❤
Saw her live ! Sarah Vaughn , Patsy Cline, and Teena's voice put goose bumbs on me.
Prince and Teena Marie, the G.O.A.T.S. of my formative years. And what more could one need? :)
Well, to be honest, there was also Beethoven and Rachmaninoff but I digress.
Another great female artist to react to is Lisa Fischer -How Can I Ease the Pain!! Her career was short, but this song is straight 🔥🔥🔥!! Her vocal abilities are off the chain!!!
She was with out on the road with The Rolling Stones for years.
The live version is beyond insane. Way before Mariah Carey. Outstanding vocalist.
She preferred singing backup for the Rolling Stones & Luther Vandross. She didn't like the limelight as a solo act.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes!!!! I love that song!
She is one of my favorite singers of all times especially with the song deja Vu and young love
Absolutely a Diamond! No one can compare to Teena!
Absolutely one of my favorite singers of all time. It hurts my soul that I never got a chance to witness her amazing voice live.
Teena was and will always be a dynamite artist. The girl had a voice on her. When u put her and Rick together u were never disappointed. Everything she sung was great in my book. I have every album/CD she ever made and was never disappointed. Each is a treasure all by itself down to her very last CD. RIP Teena❤❤❤
She's my girl! Miss those days...RIP Teena.❤
Awesome reaction you guys are hilarious 😂. R.I.P TEENA MARIE. There will never be another voice like hers. I don't think she truly got the credit she deserved for her talent. Just my opinion.
She was good but not enough to say there will never be another voice like hers Amy winehouse Anita Baker sade and atleast 10 more
No she didn’t and that’s a shame.
Oh wow this is so hilarious I can't wait to do the reactions and cap and what does that mean from their era which is now yeah old lady gang baby
Love all y'all! Tina would really appreciate the younger generation jamming to her music!
I had the pleasure of seeing her at the Dell in Philly with the Time she was an amazing performer! She also helped Lenny Kravits get on his feet she was just an amazing person!! Rest in Paradise Lady T!!! You guys need to listen to her ballads!!
GO GIRL....GO MS TEENA MARIE....SHE IS A BAD ASS SINGER!!!! THE BEST EVER
Oh this is back when music meant something! Soul, R&B & Disco of this time was the absolute best! So many talented artists that are now gone. I don't even listen to the radio anymore. Just my CDs of the good old days!! RIP Lady T
I looooove their reactions 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤❤❤❤❤. I grew up with TM and trust this was our reaction too and then, yes then we found out she was a soulful white lady but that didn’t matter, TM was here to stay in my life and her music still gets me 40 years later…TM forever our Lady T❤❤❤
Her final album was on cash money records! She was a real icon
I just appreciation yall have it's all love and positivity👊🏾
Teena Marie was huge!! No one could believe that voice was coming out of that little person.
Their commentary got me weak...when new school gets schooled by old school...I luv it‼️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💃🏾
I love me some teena!! I wish she would have got her flowers while she was here as she is one of the greats. Continue to rest well queen ♥️💐
She grew up in an area called Venice Harlem in California. Her voice is incredible, a Queen. Ooh-wee is one of my favorites.
Deja Vu Been Here Before is another 🔥song from the Original Black-White Rapping Girl Teena Marie❤️ RIH
A lot of adults my generation don't know the Queen Teena Marie, but my momma sang so I know Teena Marie and fell in love with ooh la la her voice is priceless nobody we have singing now can touch her.
It's about time!!! Very talented lady.
I love that little rap she does in the middle! I still have her albums, yes, vinyl! This was a great time in my life, Lady T, Luther 'Searchin'... feels like summer!
Teena is legendary! This is my jam right here! I didn't know what "square biz" was either, but the song jams. She played several instruments too - very talented lady!
Awesome Lady T....love your sound..even in 2022..never forgotten...RIP...xx...great pick guys..
Teena is everything! I was little when this song came out and used to jam to it in my room singing into my brush lol. I’ve always been a Teena fan and still am!
" It must be magic", is another favorite of mine. She is the Queen.
Tina Marie was a Soul singer. One of the best until her death. We "Black folks" loved her.
TEENA MARIE HAD Y'ALL DOING THE SOUL TRAIN!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! AHHA!!!🥰
The sure enough G.O.A.T of blue eyed soul! Besides Fire and Desire, which everyone will suggest, I say check out Ooh La La LA. The live version from Soul Train. Lots of nice music in her catalogue, Young Love, Deja Vu, If I Was a Bell, to name a few more. Yall were talking about Soul Train and Lady T, now check her out on that legendary stage.
Ms.T.....noone can compare. Seen her and Rick sing fire and desire in person..you need to watch that!!
OMG Y'all had me dying here . I love watching you guys. I think it's time y'all introduced yourselves. Starting the the handsome dude with the red hat. How are y'all related if you are. BTW you have to check out Teena Marie and Rick James with Fire and Desire and Happy. To this day, I still think they did the best duets ever. Love you guys!
Love Her. Teena Marie.. The Ivory Queen Of Soul... May She Rest In Paradise....
Y’all youngins tooooo cute. Teena Marie was the original blue eyed soul in the genre of soul, funk and R&B music. Her music was a must have at our high school dances, talent shows and house parties. Her music for me is sooooo nostalgic. I know where I was and what I was doing Christmas Day 2010 when I saw and heard she died. It scrolled across the bottom of the tv screen as I was as watching BET. She and her music is a soundtrack to many of us during our middle school, high school days and beyond. I get in my feelings when I hear her unique voice. Really miss her and her music.
She was one of the greatest! R.I.Paradise Teena! 🙏🏾
My girl!!!!!!!! Lovely reaction!!!

I am SMILING AND LOVING seeing these guys jammin and appreciating Tina Marie and her music. For the record…. Rick James brought her out back in the day. Look up her unsung episode on TV one to know more about Tina Marie AKA Vanilla Child. ❤️
I'm so glad to have witness her at the Essence Festival in 2005. It was just before Katrina hit
Square Bizz was just her way of saying I'm coming straight at you
That soul train line though...I'm subscribed‼️
Damn this song is so good. Forgot all about it until I heard it recently. RIP Mary she was extremely talented.
