  • We finally have enough use on the Hydrapak Seeker 3L water bag to give you our recommendation. This bag is extremely durable and comes with some added features that are missing on other bags. This was our primary water filter bag for all of our trips this summer and it held up without issues.

If you read the bottom of your BeFree pouch you will see that it's also made by Hydrapak, that's why the filter fits so well on the Seeker.

I use 2-2L CNOC bags(Blue clean, orange dirty) & a Hydroblu Versaflow inline water filter with an activated carbon insert filter attachment, that CAN be used as a gravity feed system, but water purification tabs as backup. In case i forget to sleep with my filter, and temps drop below freezing 🥶 A frozen filter is a broken filter, and a round of Beaver 🦫fever is in store (coming out both ends at the same time is a trip ender!)

you are so happy that it's BPA and PVC free and you empty it into a plastic water bottle that has all of that.

Smart bottles are made from food grade PET1 plastic and are BPA free. For shorter trips where weight is not an issue we take our hydro flask containers.

Thank you for the video but you didn't explain how to use the Sawyer filter. You had one on the table and I wanted to see you use the adapter.

We do not have the adapter for the sawyer. The sawyer is our secondary (emergency) filter system and we use a 2L CNOC bag with it.

I am debating between the 2L bag and Hydrapak Flux 1.5L Ultra-Light Reusable Bottle. Which one is better and should I choose?

We personally like having the bigger container so you can pack more water if you needed for dry sections.

I have carried that exact hydrapak for 7 years as a backup water reservoir, but I’m getting rid of it. It imparts a strong unpleasant plasticky chemical smell and taste on the water. I have tried every internet suggestion to get rid of it. Denture tabs, lemon juice, vinegar, soaking, hot water, baking soda, freezing, washing vigorously, airing it out for weeks, … literally everything. And nothing fixes it. In fact, it seems the smell/taste has only gotten worse. I don’t know exactly what is happening there chemically, but even if for some reason the smell/taste was completely inert and no health concern (I’d like to see research on that before I believe it), it makes the water disgusting. I can even still smell and taste it if I use the water to rehydrate food. Yuck.

Very odd. We have not had any bad taste or smells coming from the bag.

You should start smoking. That helps.
