    Here's one solution you didn't mention. Sometimes a setting will change under "Speakers". If you go into "Speakers" and check the properties you'll notice that the frequency has changed. In my case it read 44kHz. It has to be 48kHz. As soon as I changed that, I got audio from Resolve again. I found that solution buried in a long thread about this problem on BM's forum.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH. I ended up watching part 1 first and then coming here. What worked for me was changing the preferences, and setting it to my headphones manually. What was odd was that It didn't work at first, even after closing davinci and restarting it (as it advised me to)...So for those who might have run into this issue when changing the preferences, try again and it may work! ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH!

      Ever since I downloaded davinci 17 on windows 10 this has happened to me everytime I disconect the headphones. If i want to get audio out of the headphones I have to manually select them & restart davinci 3 times. It is better for me to never unplug them from my jack to avoid this issue. It worked perfectly on 16, and still works perfectly on every other program. Davinci gotta fix this asap. Laptop is new & so are the headphones, i reverted back to 16 & the issues went away

      @@MexicanGhost2013 Agreed! They definitely need to address this. I've never had issues with my headphones, so when I opened up my current project on resolve, I was confused as to why no audio was coming through. You probably covered this here, or maybe in a different video - but sometimes it just straight up FORGETS that the audio is there. I know that sounds like user error but it isn't; I've had it a few times on really big projects, where for a GIVEN FILE, there is audio is SOME of that file and not in the other part. Open it up in explorer, and the audio is perfect for the whole 2 hours, but in Resolve, only a certain part of it (often the majority) is gone, while the first part of it is fine. If you copy the track to a new track, voila, it's there. So that is absolutely forgetting, because it can't be a Bus issue or anything else, since everything was identical for the part that was working.
    Thanks so much for these videos!

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  Год назад

      So crazy, I don't know why that would happen. I'd try deleting all of the render cache for the project and see if that helps. Not sure it would do anything, but maybe Resolve is running out of resources...

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  3 года назад

      Hi! Sorry to hear you’re having troubles, I know it could be very frustrating. So here’s the things I would check, first check to make sure the track is not muted directly below the track name. Next check the Davinci Resolve itself is not muted, if you’re in the other tab it should be a little speaker icon directly under the viewer. Next I would select the clip and open the inspector and make sure the volume is up and it’s not muted there. Also double check your bus one or your main output to make sure that’s not muted. If it seems like the program is acting strange, save it close it and open it again. If it’s still not working and you have your back ups enabled, reload back up. I’ve got videos on how to do that if you need to.
      Those are things that start with, hopefully you figured it out already but if not maybe this will help. Best of luck, feel free to drop another comment if you need some more help.

    I've fixed this problem before courtesy of your video and it happened again and I've come back to rewatch and refix. Thanks for the detailed video and instructions, it was extremely helpful.

    Thank you for covering the Bluetooth headphone issue. When you talked about the Patch settings with the Bus 1 out, I checked it after turning on my Bluetooth headphones, I get no audio with the message audio output not found pops up and continues to pop up. I checked the Patch settings and found in the audio destination under audio output, It is blank with no box options under it. I restarted DaVinci and the Bluetooth headphones work perfectly (as they always have if you start DaVinci with them already paired to the PC). I checked the patch settings and the headphones are present. Not sure why it is like that but the restart is all that works for now.
    As always you have excellent content that helps a lot. Thank you for sharing your knowledge as it definitely helps me learn this program.

Very strange but hopefully make make an update to fix it at some point. Thanks so much for watching and have a great day!

    For me, the problem is almost always related to bluetooth headphones. Every time they connect, Davinci recognises them as something unique and thusly assigns no audio output to them. There are 100 other problems created by the use of bluetooth with Davinci that I'm surprised they haven't stated it's non compatible.

    If anyone is interested in what worked for me, I basically couldn't get ANY fix to work... then he mentioned seeing if the sound worked elsewhere. I'm on youtube in another window, so I know it is, but I wanted to see if *another project* on Resolve had audio. All my other projects had audio. If I opened the current project FIRST - NO AUDIO. If I opened another project first, instead, and then loaded the problem project in thereafter (through the same Resolve window/ instance that loaded with audio working, but with another project loaded before the problem project), voila - audio.

I run a desktop PC with a Scalett Focusrite 2i2 with an XLR condensor mic. The "sample" rate for my PC which has to match the Focusrite in the app tray in Windows 10 to 44,100 and that also has to match with ANY other setting in ANY other programs. Once I adjusted this in DaVinci starting the new project, my audio worked perfectly fine. Hope this helps anyone else that was beating their haeds against the wall.

Now open DaVinci Resolve and on the top left click on DaVinci Resolve > Preferences > Video and Audio I/O. Under Speaker configuration, make sure it's set to "Use system settings". That finally fixed it for me. Hope it helps someone else as well!

    Didn't encounter this issue until updating to Resolve 17.3 (free version). Everything was dead quiet, in all the projects that I opened. Tried all methods with no success. What finally worked for me was toggling the Audio I/O settings in the Preferences section, switching between manual and system settings, starting and restarting the program in between. And then, suddenly, when manually selecting my soundcard ports for in- och output for the umpteenth time it finally worked, and sound came through Resolve once again. Thanks for providing this video and hope Blackmagic takes action to correct this really annoying issue.

    Since the last update I got a new issue and just found a fix for it:
    I always have no audio when I start Resolve - even if I have all settings correct. The fix is: Go into the project settings (the cog wheel in the bottom right) -> Fairlight -> Audio sample rate. Set it to something else - hit save - now go back into the settings and change the audio sample rate back to what it was - hit save again - now audio is working. Its only working for this session tho. Closing and reopening Resolve will break/silence the sound again but repeating these steps will fix it again. I'll do it already automatically everytime I start Resolve. Hope it helps :)

    😉 Something extra that helped for me: I quit out of DaVinvci and when I reopened my project, all the sound was not registering or playing despite troubleshooting everything in these 2 vids. What helped me is that I left the original channels as they were with the broken audio and I re-added all the audio used in NEW audio channels (A3, A4, A5) and it's like reintroducing these revived channels A1 and A2. It's like the reintroduction of the audio refreshed and relinked the audio. So I just re-added it then deleted channels A3-A5 and it was sweet!
    Thanks so much

    Good news/ bad news.
    None of these solutions helped me unfortunately - unless I missed it in the expansive info provided - the problem I had was in the media pool. Both visible and invisible waveforms were not producing audio, alongside this other clips with waveforms were producing audio. I had to figure out the problem was in the media pool and not on the timeline or in the settings, i think i changed the folder location but the warning for 'unlinked clips' (at the top left of media pool) was not lit up. I had to right click on the clips and then click 'link proxy media...' and then find the media in the PC folder.
    Hope this helps someone else save loads of time!

    My problem was not that there was no sound but that it came and went. Audio played, then it stopped. When I stopped playback and then started it again, sound returned briefly then stopped again. Thanks for the previous answer. I have another question and wasnt sure where to ask. I am currently making videos that have 4K data that NOT only use big orginal files while editing but it also creates big files when rendering is done. So my question is. How do I store my old video files that were using in projects? If I move them to a separate external HD will I ruin a project as the files will no long be on the main PC? What do most people do?

      Hi! I keep all my media and video files on an external SDD while I’m editing a project. I use a Samsung T5. The drive is plenty fast. When I’m done with the project I moved the media to a larger Drobo external drive for long term storage. You can move your files now and just relink them. To keep the project intact.
