The “Sound of the Seventies” , a knackered Ford being cranked over incessantly on a frosty morning, further dismantling the rust, posing as a body shell. The Dynamic Duo march on - Epic Saga😂😂😂
Hi Al. that aint no crossflow, that is the old pushrod motor and they didn`t do them in 1300 they did them in 997 which would be original for this car, also in 1200 and 1340 for the consul classic, then 1500 for the cortina. crossflow means that the carb and intake are on one side and the exhaust on the other and so the gasses cross the engine to exit the motor. Thanks for another interesting vid. Paul.
They did make a pre-crossflow 1300, but only for a short period in 1966/67. It was fitted (along with the 1500cc version) to the early Mk2 Cortina from its' October 1966 launch until October 1967, when the 1500 was enlarged to 1600cc and the Crossflow was launched.
@@briandamaged323Was gonna say the same as I had a 67 Mk 2 Cortina 2 door that was F reg it also had the long gear lever (lever goes nearly upto the bulkhead later ones had remote linkage short lever) gearbox, isn't the spare wheel base model Mk 3 cortina?
I'm glad that it's not just me. I baulked when that engine was described as crossflow. Crossflows have the exhaust and inlet on opposite sides. That clearly had them on the same side.
The sound of a ford engine turning over and over and over! Brings back many memories of my youth, we used to say that the definition of an optimist was a ford owner who fastened his seatbelt before starting the engine!!
Tenacity, patience and complete expertise. I got a sore throat from shouting "the firing order is wrong", i even googled it! Thank you both, an unbelievably rivetting video, by far the longest film ive wached since "JFK".😂👍👌👍
I am in agony from laughing 😂 you guys crack me up. Seriously you both have a crazy patience level which is great because most of us love watching the entire process overhauling the ignition and fuel system .. and its difficult when half of the gear is missing or "Super gold not working" . It's heartbreaking how much the Ford Anglia 105 e has been neglected I hope there eere some owners that Waxoyl'ed or Zeibarted them
A wonderful contribution to mechanical engineering with safety uppermost in mind - thoroughly entertaining throughout - cheers Al & Fudgey, brilliant to watch!
It’s a 1500 pre crossflow with inlet and outlet on same side of the head. A crossflow has inlet opposite side of exhaust 👍🏻 these pre crossflows were early engines . The crossflow came in 997 1300 and 1600 form
I had an early, E reg, Mk2 Tina auto with a 1500 single port face engine and the firing order, like all early Fords was 1-2-4-3. A mate of mine had the same problem. He was a BL man to the core and couldn't work out why his Anglia wouldn't start until I told him he had the wrong firing order. This brought back many memories from my youth! Thanks for the video Al and more long vids please!!
That took me back years. I used to go to a mates house in the early 70's and watch his uncle and his mate try to get any number of cars he owned running. You and Fudgey were an exact re-enactment of those days. Cheers!!
We’ve literally just sat and watched the whole 3 hours and even ducked when you finally got it going! Well done chaps!! Fags and brews all round me thinks!
I think those Rostyles & Recaro's doubled the value of that Anglia.😮 The spiderage / spiderweb can decorate my Christmas tree 🎄 😂❤ Thanks for the video, you have brightened my day 😅
I think its a pre crossflow as the crossflow had the carb on the other side got a turd like this in my yard and fired it up aswell .Thanks for giving it life.
Well that’s impressive as if there was any doubt you’d get it to fire up. The sticker on the front screen looked like it read lose then at the end it was a winner. Yes I know the sticker reads 105e. Great job Al and Fudgey.
I used to race these in F1200 Formula at Arena Essex, Crayford, Lydd etc Short circuits, I used to totally strip and rebuild the 1200cc engines to full race spec, When we ran out of Anglias we raced Escorts.
that looks like a 1500 engine the crossflow was called a crossflow as the carbs was on one side and the exhaust on the other so the fuel air was drawn across the pistons did my car apprentership on these age cars one thing we used to do was run a wire from the live on the battery to the live on the coil as poor wiring conections made for a shit spark but as soon as you bypassed it with the wire from battery to the coil much better spark
I’d drove my wife mad telling her the correct firing order for about an hour until you both sussed it, but in fairness I am a Ford man, and my first car forty odd years ago was a Cortina Mk1 with a 1500 cross flow in it 😂
I don’t know why you’re pulling it down, it just needs a quick T cut, also, is it MOT exempt? So it’s ready for the road, typical condition for many vehicles on the road in the 70’s. It’s a pre-crossflow engine btw, and those front bumpers look like Escort van rear bumpers, which ford used on the Mexico.
A classically period pimped up Anglia - twin choked 1500 Gt engine, rocket box and 1600e Rostyles and Capri struts. Im not a Ford man but i do have a bit of a soft spot for the old 105e - a shame its so terminally fubarbed structurally.
Poor old anglebox rotting away like that imagine if was a escort RS 2ooo some nut job would restore it just remember people nothing is impossible 😂😅👍🏻👍🏻
Im an hour in and its gone 2 am, worjed today, got tomorrow off but i was hoping to do some work on my T1100 trafic. Looks like its going to be a late night. 😂

What would give the Anglia 105E a lift would be Power Steering borrowed from something 50 - 60 years younger 😂❤
Another great video has always al and fudgie 👍

Perseverance personified, well done Al.
You’ve really done a fine job upgrading your audio, thanks! Love your channel & content.
Great vid, enjoyed the banter and the realism of the situation. I’m absolutely amazed you got the engine started! Great vid both!

I love the gear shift on them you can change gears without using clutch if revs are right
You can do that with any manual gearbox car. I do anyway!

Brilliant, great content 😂
Brilliant guys 😂
That was brilliant guys😂
Cheers fella 👍
Take a look at your video again and you will see the no.4 plug lead sparking. It definatley sounded like it was only firing on 3 cylinders
Al, just had a thought! Give it a quick blow over with pale blue paint !
Harry Potter nerds will pay over the odds for it £££ !!! 😂
Good fun but that's no crossflow...

Is the timing setup OK? Remember if its a highlife cam, the timing will be slightly different
I’d drove my wife mad telling her the correct firing order for about an hour until you both sussed it, but in fairness I am a Ford man, and my first car forty odd years ago was a Cortina Mk1 with a 1500 cross flow in it 😂
Hi al an fugey that rusty red ford anglia is a pre cross flow engine 😊
If that's a Weber,it should be a 28/36 dcd.carb top will be flat,no choke flaps just an enrichment device on side of carb.
To be honest Al , every time you leaned on that front wing , I thought you'd go through
I don’t know why you’re pulling it down, it just needs a quick T cut, also, is it MOT exempt?

its pre crossflow .... looks possibly a 1500 ... its got a 4 branch exhaust and twin choke carb .... could be ok ...
Ford pushrod or Kent engines are 1243 firing order. The pinto overhead Cam was 1342
respect
my parents had a red one of these the floor rusted out of it !

04:05 and its ended, I'm off to bed. 😂
It is not a cross flow. The inlet and exhaust manifolds are on same side.
I bet anyone in Dorset could follow you back by the trail of ginger dust that Ford must have left along the way. 😂
It that a HPE reg on that peice of paper 😎
The firing order of the ford anglia isn't 1342 it's 1243
And your point is?
@@user-ky4nt6mi8w did you watch the video???
That a pre cross flow chaps carb and exhaustare on the same side
Dagenham Dustbin 😂😂😂😂😂👍
If it has a 120e number on the engine could be tha sought after 1500GT five bearing crank
its not a crossflow, its a pre crossflow Mr Ford. and its likly to be a 1200 maybe 1500 as found in mk1 cortina.
Surprised you never got back and had just 4 wheels on the flatbed 😂
Mate the firing order is 1243 not 1342. Then it might run better even with broken spring
That isnt a crossflow engine. The intake is on the same side as the exhaust manifold. Crossflow is where the intake manifold is on the opposite side of the head.
Just love the smoking over all that fuel lolz
Not a cross flow al, cross means across head and thats not intake and exhaust manifold same side, pinto is cross flow.
