If I wanted the sides to be wider, so that the bag could hold larger objects, would I just adjust the boxing out step and use a measurement larger than the 6 cm you used? Also, is there a type of fabric that would work best (or perhaps what to avoid) for this type of project (outside and lining) so that it would be able to carry heavier objects? Thank you in advance.

Hi. Yes if you want it to be wider, use a measurement larger than the 6 cm. Bear in mind that will make the height of the bag smaller then. What I would do is cut out a wider piece of fabric, dependant on how wide you want it to be. I would use a fabric that is strong such as denim or calico or twill, even possibly an upholstery fabric that is more durable. Go for something heavy and thick that has a good stability to it. I hope that helps.

Awesome! If I wanted to seam tape the inside when using water resistant materials, could I do those exterior "definition" stitches before turning the tote inside out?

Yes I think that should work

I just finished this bag using some old favorite t-shirts. I also used t-shirts for the lining and finished the edges of the inside like the outside so it is reversible. Turned out super cute!
