Vercetti had a smug on his face that added to his confident aura, in the definitive edition he looks like my neighbor uncle bout to meet his mates for the BBQ in his backyard.
I still remember when vice city was released when I was in grade 9, skipped school and headed to Walmart only to be met with a grumpy old lady who would not let me buy the game. Shout out to the coolest guy I ran into working in that store that did not hesitate to sell me the game for his own excitement to play it at release. You my friend will always be remembered wherever you are.
Yeah, that guy exactly feels how it actually is to play the best game ever for a kid as well as an adult.
I remember being pissed that they wouldn't sell me San Andreas, I drove over to Best Buy to go get it and they wouldn't let me get it because I was 16.

Tommy should have a bit smaller eyes, a sharp nose, a better jawline, broad chest, wider shoulders, less fat compared to the new model, not too muscular, must not look like he used to take a sun tan every day for 15 years straight when he was in prison, better hairstyle(it does not look like orignal, atleast for me)
After all these changes the protagonist would be perfect 😉

Naah, Tommy looks alright, but they did Claude bad, he's supposed to look empty and emotionless like in the original, but now he looks like a sad and anxious boy.
Tommy's model looks a little off . Everything else looks dope , hope the OST's are intact and untouched . Wont be the same without MSX radio 's looping D&B gibberish and Vrock 's ethernal 80s hard rock classics :D Such good times .
MSX actually got me really heavily into DnB/jungle as a teen. Still love it at the age of 30 too.
I think they nailed each character. We are used to seeing them on really low resolution, but I can really see that that’s how they would look

The differences are day and night. Character models may look weird to us right now but look at all the environmental chnages and textures and lighting etc. Annd were also getting GTAV controls, aiming and weapon and radio wheels.
GTA 5 controls? That would be cool. By saying controls, did they also mean physics?

I only have hope that they also add checkpoint system from gta5/gta4 because repeating whole mission is really annoying.
They wont change the whole controls the same as gta5 sure there will be new weapon wheel, radar and some other things but let me remind you it is a remastered not a whole remake. Its just graphics and some minor changes.

Literally the only thing that bothers me about the definitive edition is Tommy's design. I think everything else is fine.

@@vvoolfeo That would be a valid point if they just increased graphical contents and left the game the exact same, but they actually Replaced, Improved, Fixed and Created a lot. Not really a cashgrab but they're probably buying time for GTA 6.

IMO the PS2/PC originals had better character designs that had the R* artstyle and flair, but still looked realistic and grounded. The Definitive Edition Character models look so much like plastic or clay models and it feels off to me
Guess you just can't have both great environmental details and good character models in a remaster. It's just so much work and effort for nowadays studios to do that.
@@robtz759 That's why they usually just go for straight up remakes, all I really wanted from this is better lighting and smoother textures, with the modern control scheme. I never wanted them to redo the character models. Still appreciate that they put good effort into the remake, but the redo of character models make some of them look trippy.

Vice City definitively got the short end of the stick... that blocky character design just doesn't translate that well to HD. Tommy went from looking like an italian mobster to looking like the mumbling, fumbling bodyguard of an italian mobster.
He reminds me more of Toni Cipriani from LCS to be honest.

There are other things as well, but my main concern is soundtrack especially in VC and SA so memorable, and sound effects Gta Sa has some worst gun sounds

Tommy looks completely different, and the difference in lighting seems to be making the biggest changes in these games. This is mostly just still images, if you played the originals wait until you see everything in motion.
I will never play a Vice City with Tommy Vercetti who looks like an indian actor of Bollywood.

I'm fine with them looking stylized. Its just that everybody looks like a toy. It doesn't help that a lot of those birds view shots lack atmosphere.
I need more people that talk about the latter, oh my god dude what happened to SA??? I'm so bummed that the orange filter in SA is gone. Made it feel so much better and immersive. I dont know if it was there due to visual limitations but the removal is just a downgrade in my eyes.
The only thing I don't like is how they did to Tommy and CJ bruh, Claude looks more handsome in the remaster

@@talpatv512 It's all subjective to opinion and majority's opinion, but I agree with @Douglas Collett, the character models look doofy, they don't look right. The buildings, textures, cars, lighting effects (not the overall lighting of the world), that all looks nice, however the draw distance really ruins the atmosphere of the originals and the overall brightness. You can mod up the originals on PC to make the models have more natural bone movement and not have blocks for hands as well, along with a host of QAL mods and visual improvements. The art of the games is lost in these remakes. I'm personally glad I own the three original on PC, maybe someday there will be mods to recreate the same atmosphere and fix all the glitches in the definitive edition, but as it stands for being released it was a cash grab and a slap in the face.

Can't wait to start up GTA3 the most because I'm curious to see how the Unreal Engine is going to showcase the gore and dismemberment of NPCs like it did in the original version. GTA3 literally had the best gore out of all the GTA games imo.

3:43 light pole is made up of copy and paste textures instead of just one single pole.
1:56 still has flat green texture as grass.
0:58 if you look close at the license plates, you see that the text is not printed on the plate and is floating over it.
0:24 if you look close at the bridge pillars, you see that its copy and paste textures.
Everything else looks fine.

For those who said the original Tommy's face looks weird, there are two model of Tommy in the original; In game model which looks like shit, and Cutscene model which Tommy looks handsome and cool in this model. It was shame what Rockstar did to Tommy in the new trilogy which is why they didn't show Tommy as much as Claude and CJ. As a vice city fan I'm little bit dissapointed.
The old original Tommy is more realistic than the old original Claude.
I don't have a clear idea about Definitive Edition characters for now...

I maintain that these graphics look like absolute shit compared to other modders and Rockstar was being lazy as hell with this remaster. We all would've waited years to see a proper San Andreas and Vice City remaster, instead we get this shelled out in a couple of months as a distraction while they work on GTA 6 🤦♂️.

The removal of the overly cyan sky at 2:20 is a concern for me. Maybe it's just overcast in the definitive edition or something, but it seems like they've traded style for "realism" and it doesn't translate as well in places like this (same with the neon glow on that main VC street)

Tommy was always supposed to look this way. Rockstar, in the past, has said that they wanted him to resemble Michael Madsen off of Reservoir Dogs.

A game with Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Las Vegas, Desert Regions, Forrest Regions, Mountain Regions, and every type of vehicle imaginable. And all packed with customization and a great story. San Andreas was ahead of its time
Shows how old rockstar really put quality into their work for people to enjoy.

3:04 San Andreas original lighting still looks beautiful, atmospheric and coherent to this day 🤩 It perfectly captures the nostalgia and how can I forget the orange weather. Who else agrees.

Did the PC version have that? The PS2 version had this orange sunshine haze that was removed apparently for the more recent mobile remaster.

The changes are actually insane! Its crazy how at first I wasn't too impressed until AFTER I saw this video. It shows how unaware we were of the changes. 3:04 is a prime example that had me shocked.

Yeah, but to be completely honest, I don't really like the cartoonish look, it removes the realistic, grim, details despite the older being low polished, and to be honest I wish they also made a remake like Mafia: Definitive edition, because knowing that rockstar once said that the 3D ones aren't canon, it's should've been a perfect time to rewrite some parts and canonized them.
In other words it's a completely missed opportunity like "Final Fantasy Origin" despite also being unpromising at first but eventually it gets really interesting, looking forward to this.

When Rockstar said they where gonna mix the old school look and feel to a new school level it confused everyone but looking at what they did honestly I really like it. It’s almost like a GTA cartoon which in my opinion is awesome. Im excited!!

It has that sort of Unreal Engine sheen to it, like those Mario Unreal videos where they turn up the bloom and extremly reflective surfaces.
actually is way better, but in the city scenario on buildings with a lot of windows they could put some reflection and advanced shadow

@@mellmunna4705 I’m 20 and I know what this guy is talking about, when I was a young kid playing these on ps2 I thought they were fantastic looking and very impressed by them especially SA which was the main I played, seeing how they look now takes me back to when I first experienced these games

Higher poly models on characters is a good thing, But why did they change how the characters look? Tommy or Claude don't look like themselves anymore... That i don't like.
Also, some skin textures look really flat, like Lance Vance for example...
The texture upgrade is plenty enough to be excited about. It’s going to be fun modding cars again in SA

In GTA 3 there's a song called She's on Fire. My favorite funny moment in the game was when I lit an npc on fire. An ambulance came, and when one of the paramedics was helping the npc, he started singing the song.

The fact that this Trilogy was done by the War Drum Studios (now changed to Grove Street Games) and if you guys never heard of this studio, it's the same Studio who make Buggy, Messy and Unplayable GTA San Andreas "Remastered" of XBOX 360 and PS3 including Mobile Ports.
I'm heavily shocked Rockstar still believing and entrusted this Studio to remastered this game especially now including GTA 3 & Vice City in one pack faithfully staying in Original Styles while also packing with modern graphics and GTA V styles control.
I'm hoping this time Rockstar and GSG don't and DON'T DESTROYED THIS CHANCE OF REDEMPTION AND FIXED THE GAME BUGS AND FIXED ANY GLITCHES EXIST IN PREVIOUS VERSION!
For Love of God, I only Hope in the launch day 'till weeks later this game can make me return to play this classic Definitive version.
If not, I gave my Hopes up 😔

They really changed their name to Grove Street Games to distance themselves from the terrible ports they published in the past. SMH can't believe Take Two is doing this to their beloved games.

Tbh this is much better than what i've expected. Previously i just expected a new graphics and nothing more, and then i was wrong it's so much better. Like remastered vehicles, remastered train track, new vegetation, thanks Rockstar i'm losing my patience because of this. It's very good 👍👍👍
People already complaining, it looks good to be honest, I never expected them to go this far, I expected better lighting and maybe higher quality textures, bug fixes and reworked controls, but never a remake of this extent in an entirely new game engine.
I kind of like the style, I do not bother blinding myself with too much fanboyism and nostalgia, if you want old GTA you have them, go play them they are there, think of this like a separate product, its only relation to the old GTA's is the story, voices and characters.
I agree with you, but about the last part, thinking at this as a separate product... Do you know, right, that they took off sale any form of the classic GTA games to eventually replace them entirely with these remade versions? People who don't already own the classic versions will never be able to get their hands on them ever again... At least, legally.
@@feder28 If people didn't own or care about the classics before hand, they'll definitely have an unbiased opinion going into it meaning they'll likely enjoy themselves. Besides it's not like people would rather buy the original games to be played at 480p on a 4:3 screen ratio. The PC versions won't be going anywhere and it's rare that original games get lost. The ones that do get lost are likely from a console that is just as hard to get and probably not worth the trouble.
@@feder28 literally just buy discs of the games. if you need them on ps4, boohoo. They’re meant to be played on ps2, if you care so much about the originals, get a ps2.
@@sweetpurple8812 That's not the problem. I own the classic GTA games on multiple consoles and devices so that's out of the way. I'm just surprised that they took out the classic versions. I'm aware that they had a lot of issues especially on some consoles, but still, I think they should have just kept them. People are still gonna purchase the definitive edition anyways. Also, I find that move quite risky on Rockstar's end. They really placed down a lot on the success and quality of this remastered trilogy, because if it was not to appease people after launch, those same people would want to go back to the originals, which, for some individuals who did not purchase them early, would not be available anymore.

Yeahbi wish they jept same exact design atleast for the faces and texturing on the characters it looks really overdone in lots of places too like claudes pants being so overmodelled and well....Tommy not looking like himself and that plastic doll effect....

I just noticed at 4:00 in the back that you can see the interior of the house. This may mean that there will be continuity between the exterior and the interior of the buildings. There may be no more entries that are made by walking on the yellow arrows
