I mean I knew the Definitive edition would look "better" but I'd completely forgotten how massive a leap it was between the original PS2 versions and the original PC
Except they still managed to fuck up everything. From the dark atmosphere of this game to general look of the picture.
@@Disquse i cant with you people, its so obvious that yall are makeing up shit to hate on, im dying of cringe
The PS2 and PC versions are basically the same, but on PC you can run the game at a much higher resolution
@@talpatv512 ikr if they wana complain mind as well they can f**k off the gta community if they hate this shit.
They can play other games simlilar to this then complain same shit
@@talpatv512 Console versions looked better than PC, especially Xbox (search for GTA 3 Xbox mod for PC and see how big improvements it made)
But, you are seeing that PC is better, why?
Because PC in this recording was set to 2160p as PC's now are better than before. If you would run this game on 2002/2003 PC with GeForce 2 MX on 640x480 or maybe 800x600 you wouldnt say that PC looks better. Console graphics were way superior (seriously look up this mod I mentioned above before saying it wasnt, textures on Xbox were 2x bigger, models had A LOT more polygons).
Original Xbox is still OG Xbox and on PC we can play on resolutions that were unheard then.
So "completely forgotten how massive a leap it was between the original PS2 versions and the original PC" is not really true. You couldnt run GTA3 on 2160p back then on PC. You can now. You havent "forgotten" anything, its just one of things that is better on PC's than in consoles - you can easily bump the resolutions after some time and make games look better.
Not gonna lie: the environments feels like modded GTA IV.

@@karicz7172 WTF
Can't decide how I feel about the remasters. In some ways it's a massive improvement but I wish it had more of that purple-ish colour grading. The night scenes are cool yeah but the daytime makes everything look a bit plain and more like the sims or something.
tbf compared to the other two, gta 3 is by the far the most plain and generic looking even tho it’s a great game. vice city and san andreas really let the individual styles of the eras and locations they took place in shine through.
it was green color grading but yeah
The oceans in Vice City during the day look terrible. That's the only thing that bothers me about that version.
@@GunsNGames1 Exactly my thoughts,Vice City looks more cartoonish than the others especially during the day,for me Vice City is the worst looking remaster of all three, not too mention the hideous npc models it has compared to GTA 3 and San Andreas.

This looks so good, I mean so little edits yet you have old feel. Nice job.
The GTA III Theme will never get old
Not really
Idk how to feel about it. Part of me appreciates the fact that they tried, the other half was expecting more specifically some changes to physics. Sure the graphics look nice but if you give a car with a shitty paint job a coat of gloss doesn’t make it necessarily look nice.
..
Changing the physics would give the game a different 'feel' while you're driving and running around. The wonky, ridiculous physics were part of the original charm of the classic GTA trilogy. It was part of the fun. Re-releasing a game with enhanced graphics and some quality of life improvements is great; but I think it's going too far if you change the physics of the game, or other things pertaining to the game engine. Re-release a game to LOOK different; not to FEEL different.

Catalina looks beautiful in the definitive edition
Why did they even make Catalina beautiful in the Definitive edition?!?!
Idk why people are getting angry over the graphics. It's a remaster, not a remake, and that too a good one.
And the art style is good too.
Your dam right it is not remake a remastered which only improve graphics but r* did it well
So many damn babies out there.
Two complaints:
1. The Cartel are still hostile even tho we can't actually access the island in the beginning, maybe Triads too.
2. What's up with the SA menu sound effect on 3 and VC? I can't believe that was overlooked lol.
First one is forgivable, considering that they explicitly stated that these games shall give the same classic feel but for the second one? Not saying that I won't play these games but jeez took them prolly years to remaster this.
And why did they remove dismemberment?
I still feel like it's lacking for some reason. It just doesn't seem like all it could have been.. I think the Mafia Remaster was just a whole other level that I was hoping other remasters would continue. Also, in the beginning rain of GTA3 I think they should have kept the fog, it added to that eerie aspect, and paired well with the music too. maybe that's just my nostalgia, though

The original versions will always be amazing but nice touches like trees, sidewalks, and water look great in the definitive edition. I just wish the rest of the definitive edition looked as good as those aspects, most textures look soft and remind me of card stock paper
Can't wait to see the mods the community will bring upon us with this new software engine used
Highly doubt there will be anything because those people quit, even if we get a greenlight to mod again, we wont. You will have some kids make meme trash content and that is it.
Claude now looks severely anxious.
Only just realised when watching this video that I've actually played all of these versions of gta 3 except gta definitive of course:
(will do tomorrow) 20 years later I'm still hyped to play it
Bro these kids don't understand how good this shit looks bro just look at it🔥
The definitive edition seems to have lost a lot of the atmosphere and character of GTA III. Somehow the faces have become less detailed and expressive, which is mind blowing. They also seem to have upped the poly count on some characters but not others, and it is weird when the old blocky ones interact with the smoothed out ones. They also added fingers, but they didn't do anything with them, so it actually looks way more awkward when people make the pointing gestures with hook hands now with fingers.
Newspapers on ground etc...........
They look like puppets 🤔
Finally someone said something about this. The characters look really cartoony for some reason and idk if I really like it or not. The whole thing looks like it was made by a rookie unity developer
something about the shading is off too, their skin doesn't look anything like human skin
They literally used the old character models as blueprints and smoothed them out which feels a little uncanny because the original aim wasn't to look so cartoony, it was simply a limit of the technology. In my mind GTA was never cartoony. It was real world.
Still really happy overall. For a remaster it's pretty darn good.
Man, definitive edition's Claude's model looks like an action hero of the 90s.
Yes
Idk, i don't get it... why are some people losing their minds? They kept the same tone/atmosphere! I been with this series since GTA1 on PC when my ex' brother had the game and i discovered it and only a couple years later GTA3 landed and i KNEW it was going to be HYPE just had no idea it would change the entire industry.
Anyway i digress... this looks fantastic. I expect nothing less from R* but a polished, and fun game.
Damn these guys are fast
Ah fuck we're reaching Skyrim levels of releases
Great edit!
I legit had a tear remembering how I would play this game during my early childhood so many memories thank for rockstar for making this game thank you for all the good memories of my life
Idk… the original version by itself looks more advanced compared to the Definitive Edition. The faces and details aren’t spectacular but they made an attempt to make them lifelike but the Definitive Edition looks like it was all smoothed out and shined up too much losing that intentional realistic appeal.
people used to say "Pls remaster gta sa, vc and iii" and now that they finally remastered them, people are saying "the remaster sucks" like duuude. what did y'all expected? GTA V graphics? adding GTA V graphics into the remaster is impossible unless they remake the game. and the remaster is way better than the original so be happy with that guys. stop complaining.

How can this channel produce some much great content in a short amount of time?
I was playing the Trilogy on PC back in the day so it never looked bad to (relatively speaking) but wow the difference between PC version and PS2/Xbox version is like night and day.
People give the graphics a ton of shit, but considering that they were trying to maintain that PS2 feel, while touching it up, I think they did a pretty sweet job all things considered!
Makes me tear up that they kept the dark theme and made it look like how those who played it at original launch thought it looked.
It looks cool comparing to older versions. In some points changes are mindblowing. Atmosphere is darker and less gray. But to me characters look like wax figures. Claude looks pretty good though. In general it's a good remaster but not without some issues.
That intro music is something else.
10th anniversary looks decent👌🏻
For gta 3, I cant resist, how they transform vegetation to look like gta v. Moving leaves, little wind, shadow from the trees. From first generation of 3D gta to HD Universe, absolutely beautifull. But i still curious, is the non solid ground turn to solid ground in the upstate?
Most likely no, because as far as I can see they didn't touch the map at all... Even the old bugs are there, like the one about shooting moon.
@@v.nd.tt.s8943 the shooting moon one isn't a bug it's present in a lot of GTA games and developers put it in the games on purpose

I just can't believe it's been 10 years since the 10th anniversary.
This is just GTA's version of Super Mario 3D All Stars
Limbs don't even come off when shot in the ""remaster"". 0/10
some HUD inconsistency :
- they retained the original style of the selected weapon (only using the yellow-ish color and black)
- they did NOT retain the same style of the radar which was very original and kind of iconic. I know it was ambiguous but with the now included in-game map and GPS route system, players would do just fine.
I don't like how the border of the radar circle is plain color with no sort of shadow whatsoever. It looks very dull. Again-some additional black border would do wonders).

Damn, seeing people impressed by this really shows me how low some people's standards have sunk.
I kind of like the 10th Anniversary edition the best. Slapping realistic textures on those boxy character models and then drowning them in shadows doesn't really look that appealing to me. I like the balance the 10th Anniversary has even if it's a little bright.
