    - If Stanford ever says "no" to you, just say:
    "Honey, that is your loss" and show them why :)

    Loved this video! So much help!! I'm applying next year and I thought it would be cool to throw you the idea that You should do a video where you talk all about your first semester at Stanford and explain what the classes are like, what clubs/activities are offered that you joined, etc. it would be very much appreciated and I bet you'd get a lot of positive feedback :)

    Firstly can I say, THANK YOU! I cannot express how much this video has helped and inspired me. I've just recently turned 16 and have been in contact with ncsa recruiting staff since late last year because it has been my dream to go to Stanford for track. I'm Australian and understand the importance for international students to get as much promotion as possible when it comes to wanting an athletic scholarship and I feel confident I will learn throughout the process with the support of the ncsa staff but I've been lacking confidence with my skills and ability to actually get into Stanford. I know a lot of students obviously go through that feeling of thinking it's impossible but being international student, I'm struggling to find someone to relate to. The feeling of doubt is quite overwhelming sometimes and all I want is someone who has been in the same situation so I can harass them with all my questions. Even though you weren't applying from different country, this video really helped in so many ways. It's really just inspired me to put everything I've got into it, or as my coach says, "leave everything out on the track" and to really push myself if I want to make my dreams a reality. If i could ask just one thing; do you have anymore advise for my situation or know someone who has been through a similar process? You've definitely already helped me immensely but that would just really make my day. Sending my thanks from the land down under! :)) x

    Hi Spirited Gal! Your story and experiences are very appreciated by many, and I've been wondering what a huge accomplishment this is for you, it even rushes my heart to think about getting in myself in the future! I'm 14 years old and it has been my biggest life goal to get into an Ivy League University. After hearing your reasons on how to get in, it gave myself questions and worries sort of because you have done so many incredible things in your life so far and I don't know how to start myself right now. I'd appreciate some helpful ideas to make the wheels turnin' so early! I'm getting all A's in my classes, but I feel like theres more. There's more personal and psycological factors that I need to figure out in order to soon be able to one day fill out my own Essay (: Thank you so much!

    • @theaparnaverma
      @theaparnaverma  8 лет назад +1

      I'm glad I could inspire you :)! The biggest advice I can give is to do something great in the field that you love. If you like writing, write for your school newspaper or creative writing journal and try to get published. If you're into math and science, try looking for internships at research labs around you. :)

    Thank you so much for this video.
    I have a couple of questions and it would mean the world if you can answer them.
    1) were the 2 books you wrote published? If so was it under an official publisher or self published?
    2) is it possible if you can maybe list the general gist of your x-tra curricular activities you have done in high school?
    3) around how many big awards have you received for your journalism/writing?
    Again, thank you so much for this video
    And it's totally fine if you can't answer all of them still loved the vid :))

    And ya can it be about hardships which I faced while preparing for it?

    Hi Spirited Gal. My name is Victor, and I am a transfer student. I think my dream school is Stanford. Of all the times in high school and community college, they never really inspired me to write and publish books, and I never really have opportunity and need to write and publish books as well. What inspired you to write and publish books? My second question is how did you know there's an opportunity for the journalist competition? Do you have time to study and also write and win it?

      Just search up Stanford admission counselors. They're divided by last names, so find the admission counselor of your region who reads portfolios from students who last names' start with an S.

    Hi! Which major are you pursuing? Also, what do you have to say about the stem vs. Other majors divide at Stanford? Most importantly, I'm also a writer, but find it hard to come by opportunities to materialise it. Could you please help me out with that? Tips, names of competitions to enter etc.

      I'm thinking of majoring in English, and there is no divide between stem and other majors. All majors are important, and many people cross over. For example, English majors take coding classes and Computer Science majors take poetry classes :)

    Hello there! Thank you so much for this video. I was wondering what you meant by keep in touch with "your admissions officer"? Do you mean that each applicant will get a contact to a specific admissions officer, or do you mean just the general admissions email? Thank you!

    • @theaparnaverma
      @theaparnaverma  8 лет назад +1

      Every applicant has an admission officer who covers a certain region. For example, admission officer Brenda covers the Baltimore region from last names N-Z. Find out who your admission officer is and contact them :)

    Thank you so much for making this video! I understand you're probably packed with schoolwork and such but if possible would you be willing to read/edit essays? Also do you think applying early action is worth it if you have low test scores/GPA? Honestly I feel super underqualified to apply to Stanford but I can't help but give up on my dream school :)

    • @theaparnaverma
      @theaparnaverma  8 лет назад +5

      You have nothing to lose if you apply, so I definitely encourage you to go ahead and apply :)! I applied early action, and according to the stats, students who apply early have a higher chance of getting in. Unfortunately, I don't read/edit essays unless it's a commission or a paid job, haha. If you need help with writing, reach out to peers, teachers, and local writing centers.

    Hey Aparna, I really liked your video and thought you were very concise in your thoughts. I am however wondering what you mean by "contacting your admission officer". Will every applicant be assigned to a Stanford admission officer? Please tell me how this works...

    • @theaparnaverma
      @theaparnaverma  7 лет назад

      Yes, every Stanford student has an admission officer. I've answered this a lot in the comments, but I'll say it again, you can search up the admission officers online. They're divided based on last names and regions, so find the admission officer assigned to your region and last names that start with A.
