This is perhaps the clearest and most explanatory DIY repair video I’ve watched on RUclips and I’ve watched a bunch. I used to do all my own repairs but now mostly simple maintenance, however, that’s not too simple when you don’t know what to do. GREAT JOB!!!! THANK YOU!
I quit reading the comments, but I am 100% in agreement with the ones I read. This video has got to be the most concise and no frills (very good thing on an instructional video) I have ever watched on RUclips. Thanks for making lives easier!!
I've been a mechanic for 30 years...retired now but I’ll say this... I wish ALL how to videos were this well made with idiot proof graphics and details! You definitely earned a subscribe from me and please keep up the great work.
So grateful for this video,.I was able to change my own headlight, as single woman/mother with no male I can ask, it was a life saver, thankyou so much
This is a great video - thank you! I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute which is made by Ford (Mazda is owned by Ford, and my driver's door plate says my car was built at a Ford factory plant in Kansas City) and as far as the headlight bulb assembly they are the same for both models and use the same 9003 style headlight bulb. I have seen other "how-to" videos, and yours is the best one to show closeup how the bulbs fit into the headlight enclosure, and all the pieces and parts involved - the space for getting hands in to access the bulbs is so cramped, that its hard for the video-makers to show what they are doing clearly, but your video takes the time to properly light up the assembly area, and give pointers to the parts with your hands out of the way, so we viewers can fully see. When a non-mechanically-inclined viewer replaces these bulbs, a LOT of what we will do will have to be done sort of "sight unseen", and guided by our touch as we work, and by our blind knowledge of what we're doing and what we're feeling, and that knowledge will be built from "how-to" videos such as yours, so your very illustrative video is greatly appreciated!! I do see however something interesting: pretty much ALL of these "how-to" videos for both the Tribute AND the Escape, involve primarily the driver's side, or the right-side headlight, if you're standing in front of the vehicle. Never the passenger side headlight, even though those bulbs need replacing too. I guess that's because the passenger side headlight is much more cramped for space than even the driver's side headlight, with hard metal tubing for the radiator, hoses for the engine coolant reservoir, and the plastic refill tube for windshield washer fluid, all being right up next to the back of that headlight assembly. At least that's the case with my 2001 Tribute. I had a VERY hard time getting my hands and fingers around all that other stuff to grasp the bulb assembly there, but I somehow managed through it and successfully replaced that bulb. Although the nitrile glove on my right hand got shredded to pieces from catching on all the hose clips in the way, before I was done. Thanks again!!
Great video, well done! Clear instructions, photos and videos done perfectly, made this so easy to understand! I figured changing these bulbs would not be rocket science, but now I'm headed out to do just that, thanks!
This was very helpful! I was worried about having to take out the entire housing, but thanks to your video I realized it was much easier to change the bulbs than all of that. Thank you!!
Thanks a bunch! I suck when it comes to anything auto mechanical. I swear I saw someone remove the entire housing of the headlight to get to the bulb on an 02 escape. I'm glad I watched this video!
I just got done telling someone how these kinds of videos usually start with some dude saying "Hey RUclips" and holding the bulb while talking for 10 minutes before installing at bad angles. THIS VIDEO WAS AMAZING! EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. Thank. You.
Gracias a este video, mi hijo de 12 años de edad, pudo ayudarme a reemplazar el foco del automobile que estaba dañada. Mil gracias, ahora tienes un seguidor mas. 👍
had trouble with the spring clips, but i did it; took longer than the video did but it's done hi/low lights working fine. thank you for the clear and concise details. it's appreciated. now the popo won't have to pull me over no mo'🤣
Yes, marisa...keep the fuzz at bay! Glad the vid helped. The wire clips are a little troublesome and could have had a better design...but we are talking about a Ford 🙄 Thanks for watching!
thank you for and excellent video. at 1st I thought to myself "how good can this be with no verbal explanation". then after watching a bit, I realized not everyone speaks the same language and showing how in slow, clear motions is the best. I will definitely look you up again next car issue.
Thanks for watching, Justin. Believe me, you don't want to hear me talk through videos. Plus, before I started making these, I watched them for repairs. Between the music, mumbling and heavy accents, I had to keep going back to understand what was said. That's when I decided to make videos that were entirely visual...no need to listen closely, so you can follow along right at the car. A repair manual-video hybrid, so to speak. Thanks again!
This was super helpful. I could have figured out all those tips and tricks myself but it would have taken longer and it’s January right now and 20 degrees so it’s nicer to learn how to do it on the couch and then quickly apply it outside
@@GreaseMonkeyFever It was a big help and a great video. I knew just what to do and replaced the bulbs in the parking lot at my daughter's work with NO tools! Somehow, a bug got melted on the halogen bulb which probable caused the failure.
Glad it helped. This is one of the few repairs you can do with absolutely no tools. You can literally buy your bulbs at the store and install them in the parking lot within 5 minutes. Thanks for watching!
@@GreaseMonkeyFever THANKS FOR SHARING IM GOING TO SHARE THIS TO MY 19 YEAR OLD SON WHO IS 90 MILES FROM ME AT COLLEGE IM GLAD I WATCHED YOUR VIDEO BECAUSE I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS LIKE SOME OF THE NEWER KIND THAT YOU JUST TWIST OUT AND PULL HIS IS A 2002 SO I ASSUME IT'S THE SAME THANKS AGAIN!!
thanks for your video it is very practical and it was very helpful for me thanks to you change the lights of my truck easily thanks for your commitment and professionalism
Hi there, I understand that this post is fairly old, however in the hopes you respond, where did you buy the lightbulb for this? Each website, Walmart, auto zone etc says the lightbulb is either not a match or nothing available. Thanks.
Sorry, I made a mistake...forgot to change the coverage years. The bulb in the video is H4, and covers 2001-2004. The bulb for these years are both high and low beams. Your's is different. Thanks for showing me that...I will make the changes and replace the video.
Excuse me sir.i have a 2005 2.3l f.escape and i have the same headlight and headlight bulb.i think you should say 2001 to 2004 and some 2005.i understand some 2005 have diff headlight.
If your vehicle is 2004 or earlier, check and make sure the bulb you bought is both high and low beams. I know later models use a separate bulb for high beam, and another bulb for low. Start there.

Hi, Tristen...I believe these are Sylvania #9003 halogen bulbs. The big box auto part stores should carry them. Thanks for watching!
Why aren't my headlights that accesssable.? Same truck..I had to remove the entire fixture to get to the bulb in passenger side
great video, thank you
Was this low beam or high beam, I don't know much but online says that this car takes H11 bulbs and the connectors on those don't look H11

Yeah I did more research and mine is an 05 so it's right after the cutoff thank you for responding and changing that quickly
