I disagree with comments, I see here, on Bernal. I find it life-affirming and absolutely great to see him on this form. Maybe next year he could even be a contender again. Just imagine a TdF 2024 starting with Jonas, Poggi, Evenepoel and Bernal as contenders.
Watching Jonas just cruising uphill, in the saddle, and just distancing his close opponents. If Pogi and UAE are not on their A-game, Jumbo and Jonas are (if they avoid crashes and injuries) just going to cruise to Paris. Jonas looks in an incredible form, and not even peaked his form yet, if Jonas and the team are to believe. Gonna be a great TDF if UAE and Pogi are up for it!
Sad to see Egan Bernal so out of form. That was a terrible accident what he had. Just being there is a great accomplishment; but he has a lot of work to go.
For losing contact so early, he only lost 1km to the main GC group on the finish line. The fitness is improving nicely, he just doesn’t have the top end yet. OTH, LeMond was also miserable before his 2nd Tour win.
After his accident it was unsure if he'd ever be able to ride a bike again. Here he is now, racing at WT level. He is still young, I am confident he'll get his form back one day.

Saturday's stage also finished this early. Roland Garros is a bigger deal than Dauphiné. Probably a good decision to allow sports fans to be able to watch both instead of having to choose between one or the other.
The actual reason is the same as for other 1week pro tour races in France such as Paris Nice, it's to allow riders to commute on Sunday and get to local airports earlier such as Geneva and Lyon for the Dauphine. The French Open on national TV is on TV 2 and 3, they switch between both
Didn't expect Bernal to push for the win, but I'm trying to get a feel for him. Is his time as a tour contender over? Understandable if it is. Or will it just take time to build back up to his previous world class level. I'm finally to the point where I can semi-root for Ineos. Never thought that would happen.
The top two GC teams did not really care much if a breakaway went up the road as both IMO were happy with 1st and 2nd - it was only when Alaphilippe was in with a serious chance of a second in GC that UAE started pacing. TJV then went along for the ride.
