Fell in love with cycling during this year's TDF. Was a tad surprised by the negativity towards Vingegaard's performances and judgement of his personality. So I've been watching older vids of his racing and I'm again surprised by the positive responses to his performances. What I've learned from this, however, is he was a worthy winner. On the same note, I want to say people shouldn't hate/judge him for being reserved/introverted. Ts really wierd.
Vingegaard is a freaking monster. Without Pogacar we would talk about a 3 time TdF champion at 26 in a month. A cyclist who is phenomenal on climbs and is almost on Van Aert level at time trial.

This man is just incredible at these climbs. I hope so much that Pog is in top shape despite his injury. If so we have an epic battle ahead of us. Edit: man these comments blew up
I think Jonas has only 1 goal. POG is on his way to true greatness. If Jonas is 100% focused on TDF he beats Pog. But Pog only has an eye on TDF and still might win. Jonas is incredible, Pog is a freak.

Love seeing the champ with such a huge lead before the stage, and still being bold and making the day, when he doesnt have to, and could simply defend and watch the rest. Im still left with my 2022 view, for Grand tours, there are these two "Vingegaard & Pogacar" as the two topdogs, and then there is the rest.. what a Dauphine display sofar from Jonas, very impressive.
I got my hopes up for Rog/Remco at the Giro only to have them cruelly dashed so I'm holding off on predicting a Clash of the Titans next month. But it's possible.
honestly? besides jonas being in pretty godly shape, its really nice to see some of the other TDF top 10 contenders being pretty decent here. o'connor giving us some (false?) hope again, hintley looking good too. and like where is Mas? i expected a lot more from him i guess

The fact that Jonas has recently been equal in TT to Pog, I don't know how you're supposed to crack him. 😅 Few seconds on punchy finishes maybe, but other than that, he is the fav for the Tour imo.
He is from one of the flatest part in denmark 1😊BUT the Windows is almost Always blowing at least and I say at least 10 meter pr second and in his young year he was up against powerhouse like asgreen and mads p . But always stayed up there in front never winning alot because he whas so light .i belive the wind maked it up for not having mountain,and ofcource he hasbeen training in mountain otherwise in europe😂
Vingegaard seems untouchable. After the race he did not even look sweaty during the interviews - while Yates was panting so much he could hardly answer straight. Not sure if true but someone said it was the most height meters ever on the pro tour.
Would love your view/opinions on the dreadful organisation of the women's CIC Tour des Pyrénées, as the 3rd stage did not take place today on Sunday, rightfully so for safety concerns voiced by pretty much everyone.
Craziest thing here is that according to Jonas and his team, then he will be even better at the TdF than right now. Also crazy to think about the fact that Jonas’ true strength comes in the third week of stage races, as he is better at resting than any other rider on the tour. Even Pogacar.

On the one hand, the GC result was to be expected, he was a level above. But looking to the TDF, there's really only one rider he need worry about. One can only hope someone else in addition to the top two, bursts thru to make it somewhat more complicated.

That will never happen” Is he a domestique or is it bc he’s a sprinter and not a climber?
I'm surprised that it doesn't look like JV will take Attila Valter to the TDF. They lack a bit of climbing help for the highest climbs in their current Tour lineup.
Visually, yes their guys don't seem like climbers. But in summer shape, Benoot and Van Baarle climb out of their skin. They're super versatile and can fit a variety of situations that arise in a GT. I think they can pace the peloton for medium mountains or get in the breaks and wait for Jonas and Kuss higher up the long climbs.
@@LennieNelson55 I don't disagree with that, but with Kruiswijk out of the picture, they only have Sepp Kuss (with a Giro in his legs) for the highest mountains. And on current form, Valter look like a perfect addition. But obviously JV have the perfect team for all other terrain, including medium mountains with van Aert, van Baarle and especially Tisj Benoot, who did a great job on the climbs last year.
Doesn't matter what kind of form Pog has in the TDF. If he races the first 9 days like stage wins=GC contention like last year, then he's screwed and Jonas V can chalk up the win right now. Pogacar is talented, but he races like a total asshat rookie each time out. He's a simple man, lol.

Pogi is already breaking KOM-s on Strava, so we don't have to worry. Jonas will have his hands full this TDF, even with Pogi in wrist bracelet. UAE has way better team this year, top domestique Yats looks good.

Take Johnas and Tadek out of races and the next 10-15 riders are reasonably close... JV nailed them but the podium battle was worth watching. Will UAE use same tactics that JV used beat TP last year? Isolate and use multiple attacks to break him down?
That tactic only really works if you have multiple people who are a real threat for the GC, UAE has a great team around Tadej, but none of their riders pose a threat for the overall win, as Roglic did, therefore it wouldn't work as Jonas would just follow Tadej and let the other riders get their moments of shine, until they eventually get dropped in the later stages of the race.
It is amazing that now with disc brakes and bikes well over 7kg that you dont need oxygen vector compounds to do the mutant watts they did back in the old era of rim brakes and 6.8kg bikes with 1000g tubulars. Aero disc bikes > EPO etc.

I believe that the deciding factor will be the temperature. If it is hot, Jonas will have the edge. If it’s cool, Pogacar will dominate.

Take Johnas and Tadek out of races and the next 10-15 riders are reasonably close... JV nailed them but the podium battle was worth watching. Will UAE use same tactics that JV used beat TP last year? Isolate and use multiple attacks to break him down?
That tactic only really works if you have multiple people who are a real threat for the GC, UAE has a great team around Tadej, but none of their riders pose a threat for the overall win, as Roglic did, therefore it wouldn't work as Jonas would just follow Tadej and let the other riders get their moments of shine, until they eventually get dropped in the later stages of the race.

It is amazing that now with disc brakes and bikes well over 7kg that you dont need oxygen vector compounds to do the mutant watts they did back in the old era of rim brakes and 6.8kg bikes with 1000g tubulars.
