    Fell in love with cycling during this year's TDF. Was a tad surprised by the negativity towards Vingegaard's performances and judgement of his personality. So I've been watching older vids of his racing and I'm again surprised by the positive responses to his performances. What I've learned from this, however, is he was a worthy winner. On the same note, I want to say people shouldn't hate/judge him for being reserved/introverted. Ts really wierd.

    On the one hand, the GC result was to be expected, he was a level above. But looking to the TDF, there's really only one rider he need worry about. One can only hope someone else in addition to the top two, bursts thru to make it somewhat more complicated.

    I’m really new to the sport of cycling (I just started watching and following it a month ago) and I have a question for anyone who’d like to answer. I heard the announcers talking during maybe stage 4 and one of the guys said “Wout Van Aert is really showing he wants to win the TdF” and the other guy chuckled and said “I’ll eat my hat if that happens. That will never happen” Is he a domestique or is it bc he’s a sprinter and not a climber?

    • @LennieNelson55
      @LennieNelson55 Год назад

      Visually, yes their guys don't seem like climbers. But in summer shape, Benoot and Van Baarle climb out of their skin. They're super versatile and can fit a variety of situations that arise in a GT. I think they can pace the peloton for medium mountains or get in the breaks and wait for Jonas and Kuss higher up the long climbs.

    • @holmbjerg
      @holmbjerg Год назад

      @@LennieNelson55 I don't disagree with that, but with Kruiswijk out of the picture, they only have Sepp Kuss (with a Giro in his legs) for the highest mountains. And on current form, Valter look like a perfect addition.
      But obviously JV have the perfect team for all other terrain, including medium mountains with van Aert, van Baarle and especially Tisj Benoot, who did a great job on the climbs last year.

    • @N2theLAS
      @N2theLAS Год назад +1

      That tactic only really works if you have multiple people who are a real threat for the GC, UAE has a great team around Tadej, but none of their riders pose a threat for the overall win, as Roglic did, therefore it wouldn't work as Jonas would just follow Tadej and let the other riders get their moments of shine, until they eventually get dropped in the later stages of the race.
