    Still think your ban was one of the most unfair in the cycling history. For a start any championship on zwift should have forced everyone on the same bikes anyway.

      @@timurpapba520 yes, his 'trainer difficulty is unfair' buddy told him about bot riding in zwift. Something like this. Cheating is cheating, his opposition manage to get the bike and be ready for competition. Harsh was ban from UCI, considering they let some people fly with more serious cheating.

    Watched the TT live in 2004. Stayed in the campsite 500m away and woke at 3am too excited to sleep so walked up the mountain.... with 1 million other people following 4-5hours later. It was 6 people deep all the way up. Saw all of the greats: Basso, Ullrich, Big George, Virenque, Boonan and The GOAT. It's a shame the TdF have never held a proper mtn TT like the L'Alpe since. Then LA won the Le Grand-Bornand the next day. Corr what a tour! Top Fuel cycling at it's best!

    Hey Cameron, great video! It’s eye-opening to see how hard it is to match Armstrong’s wattage on Alpe d’Huez.
    Given that both Armstrong and Pantani used doping to achieve their legendary times, it’s hard not to be skeptical about recent performances like Pogačar’s. The fact that Pantani and Armstrong, with doping, pushed human limits so far makes it seem unlikely that current riders can break these records naturally, even with advances in training and technology.

    • @edj4833
      @edj4833 11 месяцев назад

      I'm genuinely happy for you that you defeated cancer, but Lance was way more than a scapegoat. Yes, in order to compete at the time, almost everyone in the peleton had to take drugs, but he won by taking more than most and he was also documented by multiple sources as a pretty horrific bully, at one point bullying perhaps one of the only clean riders off the peleton, one who may perhaps have been genuinely capable of winning in a drug free peleton.

    • @jaimeisreal

      @@edj4833 Are you referring to Tyler Hamilton? Or someone else?
      And yes, I did hear Lance had a lot of enemies and was a bully. Not a perfect person by no means, I know. But he had a HUGE impact in my life. I can't talk down on someone who potentially saved my life either. I am biased, sorry.

    • @edj4833
      @edj4833 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@jaimeisreal Tyler often referred to his bullying, as did many teamates, but it was a famous French rider with a high Vo2 max, who managed to keep up with the rest of the peleton despite not using EPO, which is an extremely effective performance enhancer. I can't recall the name though, I read it in David Walsh's book.
      I understand that his inspiration to you, but for the sport of cycling he was awful. He was not the only one to blame as the UCI knew about all of this and enabled it, but there was a difference between other riders who may have reluctantly took drugs to be able to compete in a peleton, and Lance who was on another level.

    My ftp is 3.5w/kg and getting to that has been tough enough. How does someone get to 7, how is that even possible.

      He botted zwift to unlock a bike that provided an advantage prior to the world champs. No actual cheating in competition, just had a bot riding for him offline

    Did Lance really average 495W on that day, is it proved somehow? It is sick number. I know that he was heavier than most climbers today and they had rocket fuel these days, but almost 500W for such amount of time sounds like above human abilities.

    Marco Pantani also doped 😁 They must give back everything to Lance. All cyclists doped in his time so it was fair. Lance still one of the Best. Chapo to Lance!

    • @MichaelBoogerd

      They’re lighter than Armstrong - so they might not require to smash 500w to reach the same w/kg north of 6.5w/kg

    You need to keep the watt/kg figure, not the 495W, esp. uphill there is a big difference…I was an amateur cyclists in the early 1990s and managed about 18kph on long 10% ish average climbs (1,80m, 65kg). But Lance’s numbers are just from another planet.

    Marco was going up with 54-42 so he had an advantage on the inner ring. It allowed to him to push down harder with less spinning. To push those big gears require serious leg power and chemical assistance.

    It's 6.9 watts/kg...not just watts. A big rider can do higher wattage, efficiency is all that matters.

      Exactly…I was like what is the point of holding that watts? It’s not apples to apples.
