- I still maintain that this is my favorite @AnnenMayKantereit song, and this performance on a random balcony was super special. The translations feels like I could've written it myself and it certainly reminds me how far I've come... In a way, I suppose this song helps me recognize the "Ozean" that is now between me and my own past.

Henning changes the text slightly in this one on the last 'allem was war' he sings instead 'dem der ich war' which I feel is significant in this version and it's intimacy and honesty... so instead singing 'everything that was' he sings 'everything that I was' which gives me little chills.... great reaction as ever x

Einen Ozean is correct. But when we talk the e gets lost and we say ein. But still somehow in two syllables- ein‘n
The thing with ein and einen is just lazy german. It's colloquially. At some words we just mumbling the 'e' away 😁. You can also hear someone saying machn instead of machen, solln instead of sollen or schrein instead of schreien. So, it's not ein but einn instead of einen.
Same like in Rock'n'Roll instead Rock and Roll 😉

Re Ozean (Henning's Version) -- Ozean is masculine, so der Ozean, but as the object of a sentence it is einen.
As the subject of the sentence, it would be ein:
* Ein Ozean liegt zwischen uns.
As the object, it would be einen:
* Ich will einen Ozean.
He does kind of swallow/mumble the -en suffix, though.
I love when the neighbor reacts to "I want an ocean" with "me too" and Henning is smiling and waiting if more is coming :)
It is amazing how comfortable they all are with the environment, the best one is "du bist anders" where why play in such a narrow space that tourist squeeze by as they sing.

This is the first version I heard of this song, and maybe that's why it's my favorite. The vocals in this are easier for the ear IMHO, too. The expression on his face sells it for me; I feel I can totally read the lyrics from his face. And that shout "Ich auch" (me too) after his "Ich will einen Ozean" (I want an ocean) is just an icing on the cake. His smile after that is priceless :)

The „she“ he refers to is his past. Pas tin german is Vergangenheit, which in german is a feminine subject, so the noun is she aka „sie“

ein and einen are the same word it just depends on the grammatical case that its in and where it falls in a sentence German pronouns are WILD they have 3 categories male female and neuter and each grammatical case has its own rules depending on the gender of the noun

Annenmaykantereit is one of the few bands where I let albums go through and I can get something out of every song (in terms of music, lyrics or both). hennings voice is of course central here, but the band is an incredibly creative group. I'm happy when other people find out about them and the fan base grows. They deserve that, even if the concerts are now always sold out and the tickets are in great demand. But the success is more then justified.

@@h-mh93 first it just had this dark mystery to it, as I don t know the actual street I shortly thought ,wait, male prostitution??...:D quite sure thst s not it :D but I looked closer and I think it is about lingering in the street, even though it s cold out waiting to buy weed from some dealer in the street, a 100 Euro Aventure, you in your red parka, me by your side, eyes up, heartbeat down...can you give me some more fire?...
