Amazing review, Josh. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this. My problem with Best Buy laptops is the lack of customization to upgrade the memory/storage. I'm not someone who can open up a laptop and upgrade it myself.
Thanks for this video. I like how you cover the difference budget tiers and intended users. The one thing you can do with Best Buy is "test drive" onsite in the store. You mention laptops having gorgeous displays; the one with OLED. Gorgeous displays yes, but burn in can be a "con". Best Buy specifications don't cover nits and %sRBG; probably more important to certain users. Lower end laptops are usually 250 nits or less, end result is a dim display. Is this something you can consider touching on when reviewing laptops in the future? Thank you.
If you're a photographer, designer or an artist, these are all MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better choices than any Apple product: Asus ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED, Asus Zenbook Flip 15 OLED, Asus Vivobook Pro 16X OLED, Asus Zenbook ProDuo OLED, HP Spectre x360 OLED, and HP Envy x360 OLED.
Any thoughts on laptops that are great for streaming sports. Is refresh speed a factor, and is an extremely strong processor or upgraded graphics recommended? Don’t know what is needed for just wanting to stream sports online.
I was able to pick up the MBA M2 on Amazon for $150US off the retail price --- couldn't resist. Best Buy also had them at a discounted price, just not quite that low.

This is a real good time to buy gaming computer. There are some really good deals at Costco too. I saw 300.00 dollars off on some of gaming computers at Costco. And you can buy one that you want now and wait to see if the price comes down more on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.because you get until January 15th to return anything you buy.
Hey Josh I was wondering what you think of the ASUS Zephyrus M16, I would love to see you review or hear your thoughts since it seems to be one of the thinnest and lightest gaming laptops with an amazing 16inch display with barely any bezels out there but it also has its drawbacks i hear with heat among other things. Also the Flow x13! would be cool to see what yo uthink of it :D
Great video, always top knotch as usual. My only question is, isn't it better to just get a cheaper gaming laptop since you get such excellent performance at a low price point? What's the downside to that?

You are using MBP 14, I wanted to know what protective accessories you use for your macbook and what is your opinion on using a hardshell case on a macbook?
Great roundup but having owned and used Lenovo laptops, I've never been a fan of them! On paper they seem good but they just seem to have strange quirks and component whitelists etc. The hinges on the last Lenovo gaming laptop I had also broke after about 2 years of use!
Those really low-end celeron laptops have their place when near $100, not $250. They are on-par with a Raspberry PI 4 and linux works great on them (better with an SSD like you said). If you want to play with linux, coding, or just let a kid really muck something up, they are pretty good. Just not on Windows.
very informative video. I've been considering a G14 myself because Best Buy has it on sale for $899.00 with 8gb ram. I am uncertain how would I feel about downgrading to a much smaller screen. I currently own an HP envy with a 16:9 aspect ratio. it could prove to be a trade off upgrading to a smaller screen with larger aspect ratio such as a g14.

I am studying engineering so I need to buy a laptop I want to buy a laptop between 700 and 800 dollars So I choose Dell Inspiron 12th Gen Core i5 I want like you..,?
Your picks are pretty much the same as mine with Apple largely dominating the landscape this year. Their Apple Silicon lineup is simply much better than the PC competition in every way except for gaming. Best trackpads period, great keyboards (subjective but I personally like them), great screens, 1080p webcams, Touch ID, silent and cool operation, and excellent aluminum build quality that can withstand some beating. Also, Apple has the best warranty service of any computer manufacturer I've dealt with. That said, they absolutely suck for gaming and out of all the gaming laptops I've tried the legion lineup is by far my favorite. Good video!
Somewhat disappointed with this video. It looked like every MacBook Air was the base level one with just 8GB of Ram and the base SSD. This is absolutely misleading, as any MacBook Air and MacBook Pro is overpriced relative to their Windows counterparts when the specifications are similar, e.g. 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD. Although not an Apple fanboy, I do believe the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are the best laptop options within their categories when properly optioned out. However, that puts them at a price when a cheaper, but quality Windows laptop can be had that does most of what the Apples can do and in some cased do things better for less money. When comparing laptops at a specific price point please ensure the laptops have similar wifi capabilities, same amount of RAM (at least 16GB) and at least 512GB of 4th gen. SSD drives. For $1,500 -$2,000 Canadian I'm hesitant to buy a MacBook Air over a significantly cheaper Windows version with similar specifications. I refuse to pay the Apple tax. That's why I would only seriously consider any MacBook from Apple's refurbished store. No refurbished products from 3rd party vendors as I find you will be disappointed when the laptop/iPad/iPhone fails prematurely. There's a reason why Apple refurbished products are more expensive than 3rd party refurbished versions - buyer beware. The Apple refurbished store allows one to buy a quality product that's like new for a bit of a savings and save on some of the Apple tax. Not to mention no bloatware. As a rant, I don't understand why Microsoft gets crucified for charging extra for a keyboard and pen and Apple gets a free pass, especially with the 12.9 iPad Pro. Why would one get the 12.9 iPad Pro unless they want it for productivity? It's overkill for a media consumption device and inferior to the MacBook because of the limitations in iOS. I compared the pricing of an 12.9 iPad Pro to an equivalent Intel Surface Pro 9 and the iPad Pro with similar specifications was more expensive than the Surface Pro after adding the magic keyboard and pencil. And lets not even get started on the stupid iPad 10 with a knock off of the Surface Pro Keyboard and a clunky last generation pen for obscene prices, especially the keyboard. Buy a refurbished iPad Air 4th generation from the Apple Store instead.
I am reading that ASUS Wi-Fi SUCKS. I have experienced that too, at least with the Vivobook I bought 2 weeks ago. I just paid for a 12th gen Core i7 with 32 GB/1TB Vivobook 515 after weeks of shopping/watching yours and others' videos. The wi-fi couldn't connect to U-verse wi-fi 4 feet away through a thin plaster wall that every other laptop for the last 8 years --even form upstairs through 3 other walls--has done with no problem. I went to ASUS site and downloaded specific drivers because I was told Windows may do the routine auto-update with the wrong ones. Bingo! Wi-fi worked properly for 1 5-minute use, or at least it reached 3/4 the speed of my old Dell on Speednet. After it went to sleep and woke again, the problem returned. (If there is a Windows setting to block the update of that one aspect of a laptop when it is restarted, I don't know it and should not have to know it, 2022 right out of the box! The keys were loud and click-y, but I loved the display and speed, so I wanted to keep it...but then learned that many if not most or even all ASUS laptops have weak wi-fi that has half the normal download speed or keeps dropping. I had zoom sounding like it was fading in and out in a rapid rhythm, and download speed of 32, then 14, while my 2015 Dell Inspiron 13 Core i7 5th gen/8GB/256 SSD had zero problem. [To be 100% fair/transparent, I bought it new, not open-box, from "PCOnline". However, I tried to register it and it had just 4 months left on the ASUS warranty. WTF???? The package "quick start" booklets did not have the same serial number and the charger may have been an after-market lookalike--no ASUS logo. I think it was an open box return sold as new.] However, when I Googled it, I saw the same "weak/unreliable wi-fi" complaint going back years. I was so excited, but a big "NO" to PCOnline....PCOnline is accepting a return but would not discuss the refurbished or open box vs. new issue (!). Also a NO to another ASUS until I see a video on RUclips form a reliable source like you, Josh, saying the problem has been solved, which models or components were faulty, AND maybe even what the design fault is. That Vivobook sold by PCOnline wrecked my first 2 weeks on a new job, after it bungled the first day and I had to use my old one until I could get a replacement. Mortifying and very frustrating, since I make my living working via video, and I told the business I knew how to use video equipment for that work, and had purchased new equipment chosen for their needs and mine.
I have read your entire comment. I didn't have issues with the Asus laptops I had, but I did not own the one you have. I also haven't shopped at PCOnline, but noted

When comparing laptops at a specific price point please ensure the laptops have similar wifi capabilities, same amount of RAM (at least 16GB) and at least 512GB of 4th gen. SSD drives.
