- Out in suburban Kansas City, I found a pretty odd car wash. Not only is this the first time I've seen a location with a full service tunnel AND automatic bays... these automatic bays appear to have heavily modified Monorail systems in them. So bizarre to see a place charging premium prices with these old systems. Though in fairness the one I tried did a pretty good job.

I actually used to work at the Gladstone Olympic Car Wash location in 1990. On busy weekends we would have lines out into the streets of people using the automatic bays and considered state of the art at the time. :) It appears to be the exact same RACO system from then, nothing different at all. The dryers were not there when I worked there....I'm sure because it was about the only "Spot Free" wash around at the time which kind of defeated the purpose of being spot free if you had dryers. I'm guessing they added the dryer for the people that didn't use the spot free rinse in the manual bays as another option and also to keep up with the fact most of the car washes now have the dryers. I will say the spot free rinse was really good at the time and probably uses the exact same procedure as it did back then. I wish I could remember the price to go through it back then...I want to say $6 for the premium wash. They did not have the full service tunnel back then so I haven't seen it in use. Your video brought back some memories, thanks for sharing.
Yea I agree that $12 is a bit high for this system, especially without any dryers. I can't believe how fast that system was moving! It was like I was watching it on double speed lol. Great video! :)
If you are ever around Williamsport Indiana, I own the Bomber Wash. It's the only carwash in our entire county. I have only owned it for 6 months, but I am very proud of the place. I would love to see one of your videos on it.
Man, the car rental companies must love you, seeing that you bring back their cars cleaner than when you picked them up. And $12 for something that looks like it was built by McGyver is a wee bit steep,

I actually found and filmed a Touchless automatic like this one once. The one I used seems to have been quite a but more run down though. There’s one more spot in my town that may still have these and it’s tempting to go look if the gas prices weren’t so high.

The second post was an accident. Generally, I only rent a car for a couple of days and the rental companies tend to wash them between rentals

This is actually a Very Rare RACO Touch Free System. They look like Southern Pride Systems but with a different Wash Arm.

The Car Wash/Elevator Fanatic Because in Joplin MO there is a car wash called Raco Car Wash with a Raco and it has the same sign as the one Holts Summit has that says AUTOMATIC and they both have a sensor on the ground outside,

Wait wait wait they have a stand alone dryer outside the bay & to add insult to injury they charge you to dry your car ? If you ask me it makes no sense. Why should I pay to dry my car when they don't put a dryer system in the bay. That again is a small rip off if you ask me because I never seen a car wash that charges to dry a car just for a extra buck.
