Happy thanksgiving to all of yall. Its been a while since we put any wheat out but i would like to again. I used to really enjoy drilling wheat. I gotta agree with you on a box drill. Simplicity usually always wins in the overall.
You need a case IH 500T 30' drill Matt it would be perfect for your size operation they do a great job of planting their light weight but built well and very simple to run
I don’t like it. You have to plant a higher rate increasing seed costs. You don’t get a consistent stand and uniform emergence. Some spots will be too thick causing the wheat to lodge late season and some will be too thin. Also some of the seed will be way too shallow resulting in the growing point suffering freeze damage during the winter. I’ve done it both ways and much prefer using the drill. It’s slower but gives you a much greater chance of high yields

Another great video of farming in the great state of Tennessee. Thanks a lot Matt, you ought to be teaching this stuff in a good Ag class.

Wow
I have groundhogs in the bean fields. They don't like corn fields as much.
Matt, picky here say a bit of up down motion in your seed boots. 😂. Needham Ag seed boot busing kits are great. Thanks everyone!
That’s what I’ve got on there. Those bolts work loose letting the seed boot move. Will not be going back with them.
@ Well darn,I know there’s some other brands. 👍👍. Thanks
@ Shoup drill fix kit is what I’ve had the best luck with in the past
Why do plant wheat behind cotton
you need to use Argentine planters to avoid problems with past crop residue
Matt with your operation what's your thoughts on spreading wheat seed and using a vt tool to incorporate the seed 1 and the residual.
