I have been watching your you tube videos and I have really enjoyed them. I sol d your brother Tyler some pickups when I worked at Scoggin-Dickey. I use to farm myself and I really miss cotton stripping.
Casey thank you for your videos it brings me back home. I hope that you and your family and your extended family have a blessed Thanksgiving, God bless you and all of your crew!!!
What are some things that could be improved on any of the machines that would improve the efficiency when harvesting? Whether it be time or actual efficiency of stripping the plant
The family that owned our farm previously left here mid Tn in 1866 and moved to Muleshoe to farm cotton. It's interesting to see the type of country they moved to.
Really enjoy your channel looking forward to more. I live in Arizona Copper, Cotton and Cattle and soon to be chips. South of Phoenix is Casa Grande a lot of cotton down there. I see the modules and round bales down there. I'll be looking forward to more videos and hope you and yours a great Thanksgiving and God bless you and your family.
Thank you for watching!! I’ve been to Arizona a couple times - they grow some big time cotton in that area. Happy Thanksgiving to you & your family as well!!
Some field are on drip & some are on pivots. The drip tape is a lot more efficient because it emits the water underground and we don’t loose any to evaporation. Drip tape can be a very high maintenance irrigation system, we try at all cost not to replace the tape because it is expensive and requires lots of labor. We have fields that have tape that is over 30 years old. We do have to fix leaks annually to maintain it.
Thanks for answering that , I was wondering the same about how long they last . Do you have to have the rows match every year so it will irrigate properly ? Use GPS for that?
It always seems like the stripper leaves a small percentage on the crop on the stalk. Do you have any estimate how much is lost? Thanks for the videos! 😊
Some varieties strip very clean & some varieties don’t. Humidity plays a role with that as well. It’s just the cost of harvesting cotton we can’t get 100% but we are prolly capturing 99% majority of the time.
Most of the wheat locally is grown for hay or cover crops. Very little is grown for actual grain. It all depends on how wet the spring is for it to be grown as grain… unless you are my wife she mills our wheat into flour and cooks with it
Glad yall are done we still have two more days left
There are two kinds of after harvest parties. A plow tractor or the end of the power washer

Watching cotton harvest videos was great. Looking forward to winter repairs for spring planting. Keep them. coming
Thanks for watching! Stay tuned. We may have one more harvest video when we finally get the last field.

Good content and narration! Happy Thanksgiving! Take care and be safe....
Happy thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!
How often during harvest do you have to replace the wearables on the heads, brushes etc?

Why do you drip tape for irrigation rather than center pivots? How often do you have to replace the drip tape?

How many seasons do you typically get out of the drip tape system?
Upwards of 30 years. They require maintenance for leaks annually.

It is not as bad as it looks! Those are just tags (little pieces of cotton), not a whole boll. You will not make wages if you pick it up by hand!

Why do you use a cotton stripper versus a cotton picker? You obviously like the stripper better. Why did some farmers use cotton pickers?
Is there much wheat grown for consumption in your area?
Most of the wheat locally is grown for hay or cover crops. Very little is grown for actual grain. It all depends on how wet the spring is for it to be grown as grain… unless you are my wife she mills our wheat into flour and cooks with it
Do you leave the harvested cotton in the field overnight?
The modules sit in the field until they are picked up by the gin - based on when we turn them into the gin. They might sit in the field days or weeks.
We have stripped cotton standing in water when the ground and water were frozen!!
I’ve never had to strip in standing water. But i don’t look forward to the day that i do
Great answer on the amount of acres you work or harvest, how'd you do that? You got a jumper wire in that seat? 😂
Thanks 🤪 that 7460 has always continued to run with no operator in the seat
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!@@wildwestfarmer
You seed and harvest ALL of your acres…lol 😢. I don’t know why people ask how many?
