Love this collaboration! "Vincent" is such a great song by Don McLean! He originally did it in 1972. What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars.
Good reaction Dani! I did not know that about his lyrics on a paper bag. The lyrics and paintings are so beautiful paired with Don’s voice and HF. So gorgeous. Well said! Love the collaboration. 🤩😃
A huge statement has been reinforced numerous times over the last half dozen years when notorious artists have collaborated with Home Free in singing legacy hits and in several cases have reached out to Home Free. Home Free has shown extraordinary respect to these artists to the point there is mutual respect and admiration that is very visible both ways. Home Free is a very humble group of guys who know how to pay their respects as they showcase these well-respected and well-known artists. Just wow, and we are the benefactors of this wonderful trust as they deliberately give each other and us a chance to enjoy once again a freshness to the decades that gone on before us with a wonderful tribute. Home Free is showing the industry a strong core value of High Regard, Strong Consideration, Attentiveness, High Opinion, and Due Regard for those who have set the stage for the music we enjoy today. Thank You Home Free, for your leadership by action that we all admire and appreciate doing things the right way!!!!!❣
Hauntingly beautiful lyrics about the troubled life of Van Gogh. Don also knows how to paint a picture with his lyrics. #HomeFree collaborations are the best and always ensure the featured artist(s) takes the spotlight. Just WOW! Home Free never disappoints!
Don and Home Free made this so beautiful and Rob did an awesome job, and much say that Don has so beautiful voice, he did this song 50 years ago 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💔💔💔💔thanks for your reaction 💞💞
The HF guys always move you, tears of passion or happiness or emotion. Such respect and honor to the original artist and song. I didn't know background until now.
I could not find that you have reacted to Home Free and Don McLean collaborating on a re-recording (it's not a cover if the original artist is participating, is it?) of American Pie. Everyone gets a verse, except Adam who does an amazing job as the percussion. It was done during lockdown so they are shown separately(the 'behind the scenes' video shows Don, Austin, Tim and producer Darren were in the same studio, but appropriately spaced). You might want to give that a listen, too, whether you do a reaction or not.
Dani, thanks for this reaction. I have always LOVED this song by Don McLean and Home Free just added their awesome harmonies. I got to see Don McLean on the Rock and Romance cruise. I was thrilled to see him perform "Vincent" and "American Pie" but have to admit his voice was not as vibrant that night on the ship. Could be he was just having an off night. Regardless, he put on a great show, singing many songs he wrote in recent years, none of which I had heard before. I give Don high marks for being very friendly with the passengers on the ship. Given the chance, I would pay to hear him sing again.
Very touching, heartfelt song. Superb remake of a Don McLean classic. Sad how Vincent Van Gogh would never receive the artistic appreciation in his lifetime that later came posthumously. Was always struck by the line that Willem Defoe (who portrayed Van Gogh in the 2018 movie 'At Eternity's Gate') said in the movie when talking to a sympathetic priest "Maybe God made me a painter for people who aren't born yet."
Thank you for your positive reaction, says everything you need to know about the quality of the members of Home Free for this collaboration, not even mentioning their incredible musical abilities, you were so right about about Don McLean’s voice, all it took was to close my eyes.
Don + Home Free = perfection
