The important lesson (that I mistakingly forgot to add); I will no longer use cowash. It was great for my shorter hair when I was washing every other day. However, it's pointless now. I'd rather shampoo, personally. My hair felt gummy and gross with all the product, and cowashing did not help either 😂 and lastly, I'm going back to 2x per week shampoo sessions. Waiting a week just causes me tangles and dryness. 💕
I never understood the point of cowashing. I love that you shared your experience with us. I feel like shampoo nowadays are more sophisticatedly formulated where cowashing isn’t necessary. I suppose it’s just another gimmick to get people to buy. But what do I know?
@@ammabu It worked well when I had a real TWA. I LOVED to wet my head every day, but at the time, I believed shampooing was too harsh. When I did use a co-wash, it helped my curls pop and took a little less time than it would have to put in shampoo and conditioner. I still shampooed at least once a week; co-washing in between helped me get in and out of the showers a tad bit faster. I agree that the formulation of shampoos nowadays is more sophisticated, and I probably would’ve enjoyed shampooing my hair instead of co-washing with a TWA had I realized that there were moisturizing shampoos, but I categorized all shampoos as stripping. The more you know 💡
Yes using shampoo is a must. When cowashing was popular I tried it but never felt my hair was clean. I never mind the feeling of stripping that some may feel. I love your result. I followed your advice I didn't add any water when I use the topper (Innersence I create hold). I still don't have any cruch but my wash n go holds up (a soft wash n go )
@@psr076 That’s interesting. How much of the ICH did you use? I know our hair all reacts differently, but I can’t imagine not having any crunch with that product. Also, how did you apply it?
I've done that before, used too much product. What helps me is after 2 days I fully soak my hair with water and let it air dry, it helps to relieve most of the gumminess and my curls still pop.
Yep. That co-washing just adds more stuff onto the hair that needs to come off. I live in S. FL and I learned quickly that it's better to alternate btw all purpose and moisturizing shampoos. I also shampoo twice weekly. I'm similar in density, tight wavy/curly, less silky than you. I used my travel size ouidad leave in that's been sitting unused for 4 months and it's bomb!!! This makes it so when I wake up my day 1 hair looks like it’s been through a hard 5 day battle .. sorry for the block of text lol..
@@hightrash3515 When my hair is getting stuck together and not separating into its individual curls, I take smaller sections and smooth it in using the praying hands method. And I try to ensure I’m not combing my fingers through that section disturbing the curls again. For example, if I put my hair in four sections I will split 1/4 of a section into two and add product, then smooth it in, making sure to add water to work it in. Then even in that little section I will take smaller pieces and smooth it in. My hair used to be frizzy as well, and it was because I wasn’t shampooing properly. It may seem like overkill, but I encourage you to shampoo twice and make sure your smooth in that shampoo so that your hair gets clean. Let me know if that helps at all or if I misunderstood.
