    The important lesson (that I mistakingly forgot to add); I will no longer use cowash. It was great for my shorter hair when I was washing every other day. However, it's pointless now. I'd rather shampoo, personally. My hair felt gummy and gross with all the product, and cowashing did not help either 😂 and lastly, I'm going back to 2x per week shampoo sessions. Waiting a week just causes me tangles and dryness. 💕

    • @ammabu

      I never understood the point of cowashing. I love that you shared your experience with us. I feel like shampoo nowadays are more sophisticatedly formulated where cowashing isn’t necessary. I suppose it’s just another gimmick to get people to buy. But what do I know?

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  2 года назад +5

      @@ammabu It worked well when I had a real TWA. I LOVED to wet my head every day, but at the time, I believed shampooing was too harsh. When I did use a co-wash, it helped my curls pop and took a little less time than it would have to put in shampoo and conditioner. I still shampooed at least once a week; co-washing in between helped me get in and out of the showers a tad bit faster. I agree that the formulation of shampoos nowadays is more sophisticated, and I probably would’ve enjoyed shampooing my hair instead of co-washing with a TWA had I realized that there were moisturizing shampoos, but I categorized all shampoos as stripping. The more you know 💡

      It’s def a mood, and especially when using ufd. It hold so much water that when my hair starts to flake I need a shampoo to remove the gunk.

    • @psr076

      Yes using shampoo is a must. When cowashing was popular I tried it but never felt my hair was clean. I never mind the feeling of stripping that some may feel. I love your result. I followed your advice I didn't add any water when I use the topper (Innersence I create hold). I still don't have any cruch but my wash n go holds up (a soft wash n go )

      That’s very tru, I started trying the twists and braids on my twa for a week instead of my wash n go’s because where I live is very humid and I bike to work and as transportation, also the gym so during the summer it’s too hot to even care for keeping a wash n go more than 3 days. I personally don’t have this problem, but I will say that at that point you may just have to do a reset. If that something you don’t want to do maybe playing with the amount or ratio of each product the next time you do that set could help avoid that problem.

    Girl, I was sitting here like a dope fiend waiting on my fix 😂 Congrats on the new job, though, I understand life. Love the video of course and your hair looks beautiful. Co- wash never did much for me either. They say sometimes washing your hair multiple times a week with shampoo can make it a bit dry and you may want to substitute it in if it does. So I keep it on standby, but I don't use mine either 🤷🏽 I just switch to a more moisturizing shampoo.

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  2 года назад +1

      😩😂 I’ve noticed a lot more dryness in my crown but I don't know if its shampoo or bad product distribution. Even after deep conditioning or cowashing. Practically all of my shampoos are moisturizing shampoos but that may be the problem. I’m lost on why my crown feels so dry, but next time, I’ll make sure I’m working products in that section better. I also hate that pump on the Curlsmith cowash. How are you that expensive with such a raggedy-ass pump? I cannot 🥱. Thank you!

    • @Dgirl22s
      @Dgirl22s 2 года назад +1

      I just saw a curl specialist say most curlies have that same issue. Some say it's because that's where the water hits our head first in the shower... maybe it's hard water 🤷🏽Personally even though I know it's not direct heat I feel like it's because of sitting under the dryer. That's the part of our head that's closest. I've just learned to deal with it lol. I just try to take my time there but with me even my curls are a little looser in that area 😩

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  2 года назад

      @@Dgirl22s good to know, because I thought I was tripping for three weeks 😅 I feel like that hits the nail on the head. Because sitting under the dryer for an hour + each week, or every few days can definitely cause dryness to that part. I may try and add a heat protectant spray before I sit under the dryer and see if that helps.

      It can take some time to figure out, but id say start at the ends and work your way up. After raking it in, use the praying hand's method to smooth it in and gauge whether you need more. Make sure you're adding a bit of water while working it In instead of a lot because while water activates it, too much water can call for too much product.

    What are some of the most crucial tips you have for beginner naturals? I’m 16 and trying to get the juice before I go to college 😅

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  2 года назад +2

      Don’t be afraid to experiment with your hair, but once you find something you like and can maintain, do it consistently. When I was 16, I was constantly trying different styles, but it wasn’t until recently that I found something that works for me, and I’m perfecting it. I don’t have any FOMO on other hairstyles because I’ve had that time to experiment and know what works for me. It can be easy to look around and compare your hair to others' hair, especially at that age, but I encourage you to give yourself grace and love during your journey and make other natural friends. That’s common ground already, but you can learn much from other naturalistas! And if you can, go to a professional curl specialist before you do anything. If not, I suggest learning from others who have gone to specialists here on YT who have shared their experiences and knowledge because there's so much more professional information nowadays, and/or check out Iamblackgirlcurls. Don’t hesitate to comment and ask any more questions 🤎

Because In the shower my hair like sticks together fully I try to section but I don’t know the easiest ways to do this Also best ways to reduce frizz because just when washing my hair there’s somehow frizz even when it’s wet which is just coocoo . This makes it so when I wake up my day 1 hair looks like it’s been through a hard 5 day battle .. sorry for the block of text lol..

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  2 года назад

      @@hightrash3515 When my hair is getting stuck together and not separating into its individual curls, I take smaller sections and smooth it in using the praying hands method. And I try to ensure I’m not combing my fingers through that section disturbing the curls again. For example, if I put my hair in four sections I will split 1/4 of a section into two and add product, then smooth it in, making sure to add water to work it in. Then even in that little section I will take smaller pieces and smooth it in.
      My hair used to be frizzy as well, and it was because I wasn’t shampooing properly. It may seem like overkill, but I encourage you to shampoo twice and make sure your smooth in that shampoo so that your hair gets clean. Let me know if that helps at all or if I misunderstood.
