I’m like you, I enjoy doing my hair and if products make me feel like my hair is a hassle, I’m not going to want to do it. Majority of the people in the natural community hate wash day and I think it’s because they jump from product to product and don’t pay attention to the products that make wash day easy. They just want to be the first one to post a product review. I’m pretty consistent with my favorite products as well and try different masks or deep conditioners from time to time. Everyone loves that mousse and I tried it and it’s too light. I like how the gel clumps, but it’s too light as well. Sometimes the results don’t be giving when it dries 💯 Beautiful hair though 👍🏼
It really is. Like all her curls look damn near the same. Meanwhile I have noticeably two different textures. Not complaining but it looks so cool to see a head full of curls that blend in perfectly with one another

Your result was beautiful but I do take your point about the styling time and your level of comfort with the product. You have other options that work with less effort and time expended. I really look forward to your videos!

Just discovered your channel. I am on the same journey to long natural hair. But my new thing is to learn what products, and process works for my best wash and go fro since I now live in the desert. I wear bangs too. 🌞
I have to stop being lazy and get my hair back to when I started this journey. I was so attentive to my hair and my hair was so pretty now i just want to love my hair again and stop going to braids all the time
Loving these videos. Can you share your favorite wash and go combo so far? I’m thinking of using UNF as a styler. I use African Pride Curl cream as my leave in but I mostly do twist and braid outs so I’m looking into exploring with wash n gos, specifically with organic gels since eco and wetline flake up for me. Thanks!
@@ayomideajibola4774 I haven’t tried any botanical gels which is why I’m looking for recs before I go out and buy. Still figuring my hair out but I think I’m low porosity!
Ufd curly magic as a base and topped with Camille rose curl maker is a good 2 gel with hold and definition wash n go. Botanical gel. Honestly with ufd as a base you can top with eco styler and have bo problem
Yeah. That’s my whole thing with mousse. It’s not necessarily for longevity which isn’t a bad thing, but I’m not always wanting to have to style twice a week. However, I love the romantic hair look, so I will find a way to make it work. But not Mousse Def 🙃😆
I like that you give an honest review and I just ordered these products for Black Friday $27 for 4 or 5 products so I’ll try as directed and see how they work. I’ve tried the Mousse Def and I liked it but if it extends my 1 1/2hr wash day, including dryness I won’t repurchase. I use either CurlMix stylers or Uncle Funkys Daughter Curly Magic and Innersense I Create Hold and I love these combos and have my technique down.
I appreciate that. Sounds like a really good sale. Please do let me know how those products work for you! I’m curious about the CurlMix stylers so I’ll have to put those on the list. Awesome that you have your own technique down.
I really love your videos, I'm a recent SUB that stumble upon your videos by surfing youtube. I have yet to try the doux even though I want to, but my friend explained that the product is pretty sticky and that's usually a turn off for me lol but it made your hair look so shiny and bouncy!
Welcome! 🤗 Happy to have ya here. Ngl, I'm not a big fan of The Doux so far, but I encourage everyone to give them a try and see if it works for you (if you so please). Thanks!

My hair used to tangle back after every step too. The luv naturals line would prevent that. Camille rose, Karen’s body beautiful, and melanin hair care lines also seemed to reduce that retangling for me.
I just tried this combo the way you did in the video and I agree the process wasn’t smooth. All be it my hair was damp when applying the gel and my surface texture is course and my strands are fine to medium. The gel just doesn’t smooth very well. I’m going to try it the opposite way with the mousse first and then the gel to see if it’s any better. My stylist uses this combo on me when I get my curly cuts and I don’t like the combo when he does it because it’s always so sticky likely because he has to use a lot of product to smooth my surface texture but I’m curious enough to try to see if I can get it to work without the sticky feeling since I have the products here.
@@BrittanyMia So I tried it the opposite way and got much better results! The Doux Mousee acted like a curl primer to my strands. It went on smoooth and then I added a little bit of the Big Poppa Gel on top, enough to feel the weight/ difference and it retained its smoothness. The Mousse Def really smoothed my hair down when I use enough and defines my curls. My hair was damp/ towel dried for reference as a particular hair stylist mentioned for my hair characteristics I should work on hair that is more damp than wet and it even dried quickly for me. I then proceed to style in a very unique way in which my hair comes out like a stretched wash n go but it dried very well on me I only ended up using my diffuser to dry my whole head. I just like how fast it dried. I’d have to see how long it lasts though. I typically wash my hair evey 3/4 days. Hair characteristics: tight coils, fine to medium strands, medium density, course surface texture, hydrated hair.
It took a lot of time to work the product in my hair and I had to really make sure I was separating the curls, which is something I don’t usually have to do. It usually takes me 45 minutes to an hour to style my hair, and it took me two hours styling my hair with these products because outside of my nape, the curls were not trying to separate. I am more of a botanical/water-based gel type of girl. The gel was already a little too thick for my liking mainly because I knew I would have to really take my time to make sure that my curls were separating and not clumping together like lasagna noodles. It looked good, I just did not enjoy using the product.
All of The Doux products dry my hair out. I keep trying to use them thinking that I must be doing something wrong. I could still be using them wrong, but it's too much labor involved. So, it's a no for me dawg.
Yes. If the section is already done and both the base and the topper are on it, I will leave it alone, but I constantly wet my hair as I add the base product.
I tried it and did 9 French twist which cut out an hour and fifteen minutes. It only took 45 minutes and I have a lot of hair. I sat under the dryer so I didn’t have wet night hair. Dryer time was an hour. 🤷🏻♀️ maybe this will help someone. Love the hold.
hey there! I really enjoy watching your videos. I really hope to be able to make some of your combos work. I was wondering if you think UFD (base) + Big Poppa(topper) could be a good combo. If yes would knowing both consistencies would you still apply 6 pumps of UFD first?
Hey 👋🏾 I appreciate it. I’m not sure 🤔 it may be something you have to test out for yourself because people say “the doux should only be used how the creator suggests”. So it may or may not work, but either way I’d use the UFD in the amount that’s necessary for your hair! I personally would still use the six pumps 😅
Great vid as usual! Beautiful results 😍 Your hair is growing so fast! Give it about two more weeks and it's going to be past your butt 😂 Watching your vids make me want a big chop and do it all over again. So ? have you ever done this before? Like big chopped and do washngos like you're doing now? If not, do you notice a difference with your hair doing it this way? Or does it always grow like this, just curious.
😂 thanks! I’ve big chopped before 2020, but I never used gels for my wash and go’s. I was strictly a cream-only girl, and I could not understand why anybody would use gel because I hated crunchy flat hair. As my hair grew, I got intrigued with the length and wanted to stunt a little bit, so I straightened my hair, and it was never the same. I didn’t have significant heat damage per se, but I could tell my curls were not the same, and I wouldn't say I liked it. So when I big chopped this time in 2020, I decided I would only do wash and go’s as my signature style. (I do plan on doing blow-out styles eventually, but only when I get a Revair so I don't cause damage). I noticed that I get a lot less frizz now that I’m constantly shampooing and wetting my hair. When it first started to grow out, the coils were a lot more coily, if you get what I’m saying. I really loved my hair around the one-year mark. As it’s grown out they’ve started to stretch a bit, and I’m finding that they are harder to define. I think I’m over-detangling my hair, and that’s causing my curls to coil separately with less definition. Last time my big chopped I also got a lot of protective styles because I did not like feeling “Manley“ with that cut, as so many people told me I looked. So I didn’t really get to experience my curls. That was long winded but yeah 😅
@@monicah8804 I mean that once I’m done detangling with conditioner, I should not go back with a brush when styling. The conditioner allows my curls to clump while the hair is well conditioned. Then, I come in and detangle again, which I feel is causing frizz in my result. That's my theory right now.
@@BrittanyMia Got it! My hair is defined when I condition and detangle then gets fluffy when I rinse out the conditioner even though I don’t use the brush again. I can’t figure out why that’s happening.
Thank you for the explanation 😁 I was curious. I guess wondering if your hair was "better" with how you are treating it now or if you are someone with unicorn hair that just grows beautifully no matter what. Maybe a video topic for the future... though I love the vibe or your videos now😁 Your face is so pretty and feminine, ppl always wanna hate or have something to say 🙄 I got the same thing when my hair used to be short, or they ask if I have a girlfriend and I'm like sir I'm married... To a man 😂 Anyway I can see that with the over detangling. I do that too. I'm trying to just use my hands when I get to the styling part now and focus on smoothing more. But hair changes as it grows also. To @monica H. The same thing would happen to me and for me it's that my hair was drying out while I detangled so that's why it got fluffy. It's low porosity and is hard to take in water so by the time I was done detangling it had dried out a bit even though I wet it again. To avoid it happening now I detangle in the shower, finger detangle when I can, and try not to take to long or put a shower cap on the part I'm not currently detangling and when I wash the conditioner out, sounds crazy but sometimes I let the water run on it for like 5 mins, or a long time. Now it doesn't happen anymore but I currently have color so I know that changed my porosity. And now excuse my essay 😂
Hope it’s okay to ask but how the heck do you film in your shower without your camera getting all foggy? I tried and it was an epic fail. I have a shower that’s incased in glass so that might be the problem. 🤷🏽♀️ Thanks for the great video too! 💖
Of course, it’s okay to ask 💕 I keep the temp at 69 in my apartment, which keeps my bathroom cold, and the shower steam from fogging up my camera. I also keep my camera further back from the shower and zoom in so that it’s not so close to the steam. I hope that helps 💚 thanks for watching!!
I’m still down with the ufd as a base and I top with … plz don’t kill me ( eco styler olive oil green , and then for extra hold at My ends I’ll at a touch of styler factor gel on top). I also use the 3 row denman comb when styling and right before I release I use the smoothing technique with my hands to creat coils at the ends of the hair like you would a balloon string with scissors. the ufd breaks through any gel cast though ngl. But because I style my hair outside of the shower after applying ufd in the shower, I’ll add water and oil to my spray bottle just enough for my whole head, I then do the shake method to separate my curls . Air dry for 30 , then blow dry the rest of the way. Hair has hold, soft, and the oil is just protection for my ends it’s the Mielle rosemary and mint oil ❤️☺️.
Lol If it works for you that’s all that matters! I’ve been thinking about going back to a three-row Denman brush because I don’t remember my experience with it. I absolutely love the Mielle rosemary mint oil. Thanks for sharing your method 😊💕
Your hair looks good. Not sure if you have tried but applying the Mouse first before the gel. Works Best, the creator of the Doux made that suggestion. It was a game changer for me.
