The curl refresher is also a leave in and when I tell you it's the BEST leave in I have used on my low porosity hair ever. I wash my hair and deep condition it. I apply this curl refresher as my leave in and it leaves my hair super soft. It goes well with EVERYTHING I have paired it with thus far. It has amazing slip also!! No flaking with anything I have mixed it with. I love it.

Great review! I am not a WNG curlyfriend…but I did use the Mousse Def Texture Foam on top of Oyin Handemade Whipped Pudding for a twist out. It was well defined, good hold and lasted a solid 7 days. Most impressed that it was moisturized the entire time.

Interesting because I love big poppa because I can push my wash and go’s for 2 weeks.. not saying that’s the best thing to do lol but I think the hold is great. Thanks for the review. Now I want to try the pop and lock.

I feel the same way when applying their Mousse Def Texture Foam. I’ve found I have better application and long lasting and defined results with applying their Mousse Def on damp or damp/towel-dried hair. I think technique also plays a role as well. If I work it through on damp hair and want less definittion I don’t rake and smooth as much. I also sit under a hooded-drier.

When my ends look a little frizzy I find that using my detangling brush helps smooth it.

For those of y’all still watching this- big poppa is a very glycerin heavy gel. I would use big poppa as a base (moisturizing humectant) gel and pop lock as a topper (antihumectant) gel. I’m not 100% sure if those two specifically mix but the ingredients should work well together if you’re having trouble with frizz or a crispy feeling with big poppa.

I found this video very informative, thank you! I apply gel on soaking wet by default, so I would’ve been frustrated if this gel didn’t give me the definition I was looking for.

I’m loving this trend for me. I wish I knew this 6 years ago. Hair shrinkage is real. I look like Alicia Keys in the Secret life of Bees. I’m on week two. Next week I will do a twist out with foam ✨💕✨

Tried mousse def alone and maybe I didn’t have enough for protein in my hair as my curls were limp - not forming as a result from no butters or oils method. Thank you for your tips on these products as I thought I wasted my $

Yea, I agree . I really wanted to like her stuff but it is a no for me. While when I first put it on it OK, the next day....dry as a saltine cracker! ...not kidding! Sticking with what works....UFD for me. That's it and that's all.

Fair and balanced review. I feel The Doux is for lazy naturals with easy curl formation IE 4a-ish hair. Their products don’t “create” curls they “capture”. So if you guys have to form your curls and do finger coils, quit playing and get you some Eco/ Wetline, if you have naturally high coil formation give the doux a try.

Thank you for the “pop lock” segment. This is my second time using it, and it’s like I have defined hair day one, but by day 2 it looks like I have nothing on there. I’ve been doing it in the shower…but I thought maybe I should do it out there shower with LESS wet hair. Can’t wait to try it this way tomorrow…I’m excited. I live the big poppa!

I’ve also been stretching on day one, still watching your video…but I’m thinking maybe i shouldn’t stretch it. Stretching it definitely breaks the cast…I think I need it to keep the definition

    • @ALove4Me

I did apply to soaking wet hair and I smoothed instead of raking because I did not want to mess up the curls I had already formed with the gel

I’m curious though why you used the Mousse as a base did you try it the opposite way adding the gels on first and then the mousse as a topper on both gels? I feel like I put the product with more hold first letting that hit my hair first and then a topper with less hold on top.
