Loved the video. I must be in the minority because I love this gel and the strong hold it has and the cast it leaves. It gives me definition that lasts for 3-4 days before the cast breaks and then I’ll refresh for a day or two before washing my hair again. It’s definitely the strongest hold gel I’ve ever tried so I can see why some are not into the cast it leaves but I hate when a product claims to be strong hold and within two days my hair is frizzy. 🤷🏾♀️
I love these products too.... your not by your self. I had to learn how to use it for my hair. Twist outs work best. I have frizz too but I love the inital hold and no flake factor.😊
I think if anything, I'm in the minority. I've seen videos absolutely praising this product. I dislike when a product does the opposite of what it claims. I am glad it works for you, though. Thanks for sharing your experience ✨
I had the same experience when I first used the Bee Girl custard. Suuuuuuuuuuuuuper crunchy and I totally hated how my hair felt. I appreciate that you drew the line. No need to force yourself to like something that isn’t for you. Life is too short.
I really love this custard 🥺. My wash and go can last up to 14 days and it will still be defined and very soft when the gel cast breaks. My hair is very dense, medium to coarse strands and our curl size is very similar. I use this product by itself and use a very small amount with a LOT of water. I honestly think you didn't use enough water during and after application. No other product has ever been able to hold my curls in place like this but I understand everything ain't for everybody.
I'm glad this product works for you. Like you said, everything ain't for everybody. I'm sure I could find a way to make it work and try using more water, but this one was a one and done for me. Thanks for sharing 💛
I totally agree you with on this review! The dryness is insane. The second time I tried it, I used leave-in..it felt better but it was still crunchy hard just not as much. My hair still feels dry days later...especially the back neck area.
I swear by this custard but I use the Crazy Sexy Curl mousse under it. If you want less crunch, add more water / refresh you hair with water. You can use a light leave in like the Innersense leave in spay or Kinky Curly leave in. I use the Innersense leave in with water to refresh sometimes too.
So glad I saw this video. Her has is beautiful, however I understand not everyone likes a strong hold. I just bought this as I love a gel with a cast. I purchased the leave-in as well as the mousse to this line when I saw your comment that it helps to soften the hold.
Pleas try again though wihr UFD under. It was giving Innersense I Create Hold for me but a little more crunchy and humidity resistance. Those product is amazing in high humidity.
This is THE MOST ACCURATE description of what my hair felt like with the mousse and the glaze! It's not just the cast, it's literally how drying the products made my hair, and that it took weeks to get back to a decent moisture balance. After trying the mousse a couple more times and getting the same results, and feeling like I too was damaging my hair, I just realized whatever is in the line isn't for me and I'm not trying any others.
Yeah girl that product is really strong. I feel like the hold could be lessened by playing with the water to product ratio. Using more water and less product, because it’s that’s concentrated. The foam from that line on top also helps to give it a softer finish.
Hopped on YT 'cause I thought I used this product incorrectly. Glad to know it wasn't just me. I'll be sticking with the mousse on this line. Dont have to put anything under it, doesn't dry me out, and my hair feels really good.
I had the same experience with this custard. Definition went CRAZY, but it felt and sounded HORRIBLE😭I did try it again with UFD Curly Magic as a base gel and it definitely helped with the cast, but of course by like day 3 it was snowing in May!
Whenever I use wet line or something with a very strong hold I just spray my hair with a leave-in or water the next day, scrunch my hair and it’s perfect. I like my hair to move so it’s an easy fix to soften the hold but keep a lot of the definition. Haven’t tried this product but I’m sure I’ll give it a go eventually. I’m currently loving the Twist Weather Up Gel by Ouidad, might be my favourite gel so far.
I sprayed my hair generously with a leave in, and it still felt dry. I could’ve used too much of the product, but I’m honestly not a fan of the ingredients and should’ve played closer attention to that in the first place. I do encourage you to give it a try because a lot of people love it!
I'm with you on this girl, I do NOT play hard, dry, crunchy hair no matter how good it looks. I need my hair to feel just as good as it looks. I love for my curls to blow in the wind and move and bounce when I shake my head. Just hearing you explain how your hair was feeling was making me cringe.😖 Thank you so much for this honest review, I know not to buy that product.😉👍
I'm glad I wasn't alone. This gel was the absolute worst. It dried my hair out and I hated it every time I used it. I tried with a leave in, oil all that and the results were still the same, I gave up and tossed. It did make my wash n go look nice but I couldn't take the dryness. I still liked your results though.
Lol when you read the information on the jar.. This is giving me pause because I was thinking of buying it. I love crunchy hair but not to the point it feels dry.
I think I’m going to use it with the honey moose underneath. I had the same experience as you with the Doux glaze pop lock product, it left my hair looking so defined but it felt incredibly dry and crunchy.
The Pop Lock Glaze and the Bee Girl Curl Custard are the ONLY The Doux products that my hair does not like, no matter how many methods of applying H2O and product after clarifying my hair. My hair dries super crunchy and it feels like I put glue in my hair when I wash it out.
I think you would like the Bee Girl Mouse better or the Design Essential custard. I use those on my daughter's hair because they come out softer. I prefer the Bee girl custard on my own hair because I can make it crunchy or soft /fluffy depending on how much product and water used
She actually says on her Instagram that it will leave a crunch because thats how the product is made for a strong hold if you want to soften it use it with the mouse
I had the same result. I am going to really use alot of water next time. I felt like I used more than enough water, but it made my hair feel so dry. And I usually use Uncle Funky's and Innersense I create Hold.
Ive never tried the gels but I've used the regular doux mousse and I love it ! I've used the honey one hated it! I do use a moisturizing hair butter along with the mousse however and it's not as crunchy and it still holds and has shine and moisture.
I love the slip and the definition from this one but I prefer the big poppa gel! My hair feels so hydrated and conditioned when I use it with the mousse-def after it dries I coat my hands in the curlsmith binding oil but any light weight dry-oil would be find
The same thing happened to me just yesterday! Had to cowash and go back to the original BIG POPPA! I did watch other reviews with perfect usage and I'm going to try with leave in, less product, and using the mousse first then the custard last. Wish me luck or it'll be back to the original gangsta that's been my wash and go staples ❤
Thank you for the review! I love a strong hold and have found ways to soften gels with cast. I live in a humid area need something like this for wash and go’s. Just picked it up after watching, but got the leave in and mousse as well for added moisture. Just subscribed!❤
You’re welcome! If you love a strong hold then you’ll love this. Let me know how it works out for you! 🤗 I’m curious to hear about what combos people are using with Bee Girl.
@@BrittanyMia So, I just washed my hair earlier. I used the leave in, foam, and then the gel from the Bee Girl Line. I also added oil after I layered everything to avoid flaking, if any. Once it fully dries I can see how it goes. Kind of has a sticky feel to it, possibly to help with hold. I also have quite a bit of shrinkage. If this combo doesn’t work UFD or curl activator generally works for me under other gels with a cast. I’ll give it a few days and see how things go.
@@Beauty4ashes80 if you don't mind me asking how long did it last for you? If you remember I just bought the gel and I have the moose.. my plan is to try to remember to be easy handed since everybody keep saying that you can take a little and it goes a long way
I also prefer a softer-to-touch wash n go, so totally understand this. Also so agree on tangle teaser it would be amazing if it had longer teeth version
It left a little crunch BUT I use a leave-in and after it dries I put olive oil. That combo makes for a good wash-n- go for me. (High porosity/Type 3-B hair).
The 😊Doux is the brand to where you either love it or hate it. Lol. I love this gel, BUT I used it with UFD. I also live in a very humid climate, so this gel with the environment I live in gives me a 7-10 day wash and go. Even with the humidity, I’m afraid to use this gel by itself😂. I think you used more than enough water, this is just the gel made for people who love a very strong cast.
Lol yeah, I’m leaning on the end of hate it but I also don’t like such a strong cast and should’ve known better, but I’m always gonna try something just to see how I like it. If I had tried it with the UFD, it would’ve been a whole other ball game. Alas, I’m not the strong cast type of girl so lesson learned.
There’s a tangle teezer that has longer teeth! It’s the thick and curly version and it’s my favorite. It is a palm held brush that doesn’t have a handle though. I haven’t had any issues with it but I know some people don’t like that.
I’m glad I found your channel for an honest review about this product everyone is raving about it once wet it’s great but when it dry my hair is crunchy and dry and it flakes as well and I didn’t like that part
I love how honest you are in all your videos! After watching this I went to the website to check out the ingredients and I think your assessment about it being more topper is probably accurate. It has a bit of polymers which would lead to a more anti-humectant type of topper. I saw you got a haircut on your Instagram can’t wait to see the RUclips post! 💕
My hair seems to be hold/cast resistant, so this video sold the product for me. Sorry it didn't work for you, but I appreciate your review. Love your channel and please keep being honest.
@@BrittanyMia Girl, after trying a few different ways, I really like this gel! Applied to damp hair it had my curls clumped with a firm cast. Not breakable hard, just firm. I left it alone and slapped a bonnet on it. When I took off my bonnet the next morning, my hair was shiny, bouncy, and the cast had loosened enough to have my hair swinging. It's also amazing for my braidouts and twistouts. 10/10 for me. Once again, thanks for the review!
I could SEE the dryness in the lack of movement! The doux is hit or miss for me. The glaze gel gave me similar helmet hair just witg less definition, and the big poppa gel gave me the softest most defined wash and go Ive ever had! Only problem is its so THICK and the application isn’t as easy as with lighter gels that have great slip.
It doesn't break your hair I use it all the time. It's a cast use some oil by the end of the week it'll feel soft. I use oil under mines. Your hair looks really good!!
Hate you had a bad experience, cause this is one of my few favs. I did use the melanin leave in under it, so idk if that's what helped me. But I've used this gel a few times and nvr had dry hair. Soft, bouncy, and beautiful. and yes... you used WAY too much of that. You used more than me on your 1st than I have 3 trys in 😳... maybe try it out of the shower, on just wet hair (not soaking wet)..
Thanks for the suggestion, and for sharing your experience! I don't want to make the product work enough for me to try it again. I think this one is not be for me.
I tried the bee girl line and didn't like it either. I think maybe we over dry it under the hooded dryer. Maybe 1/2 dry under the hooded dryer and then air dry the rest of the way? I threw the Bee Girl mousse away. I'm also a wet line girl and make no apologies about it. I work out and coach basketball outside in the Florida heat and humidity and my hair holds up for 7-9 days with no refreshing. it washes out easily and after 3 days when the cast breaks ohh baby it is soft and still holds up to the humidity. It gives me a consistent, reliable and no manipulation look/style and I always get compliments on my hair. Women corner me to ask me about my hair. UFD, Wetline and Trepadora bamboo ginseng or Bamboo Ginseng mouse in that order. Use the Bamboo ginseng line sparingly. They are highly concentrated and will flake if you use too much. You're welcome. This combo gives you a flat look on day 1, but as the cast slowly breaks, it softens up and grows slowly over time, giving the illusion of a different shape/style every day. You can pick and fluff the cast out for lift, but I don't do that. I just squeeze gently with my hands in the morning and shake the hair out and every day the shape looks different.
I’m going to try this gel when my UFD is done to see a volumizing mousse cause break up some of the hold. Thank you for your review sorry about the experience!
I love the doux mousse def, but not the big poppa gel, but I couldn't remember why and I think that's why. It made my hair way too hard. I'm pretty much done with all gels! I HATE all clear gels and now I know not to try this one. Definitely sticking to mousse only curly hair routines.
Omg mia 🙊 I am amazed at how tastes can change from one guy to another. In my eyes This is a BOMB if not the best wash and go result I have seen on your chanel🙈😅 ❤ when a product does this to my hair it means i am going to have a good life because it's the perfect foundation for heat stretching that will break the cast without my hair turning to a frizz ball 😅 but i definetly understand why you dont like the crunch because you seem to like defined but fluffy hair with alot of volume and bounce and this is giving mad hold
I like what you said!!! I'm not a wet line or Eco girl either!!!! Folks got me out here thinking your hair has to be helmet hard to maintain curls all week. I was told that's what the refreshers were for, to mist on your hair when it's crunchy like fried chicken! This is why I watch you and will continue to support. Thanks for being real!
Thanks Angela! I agree, I'm not a super crunchy hair girl in the slightest. Not like fried chicken 😂 but it's accurate! Thanks so much for your support 💕Imma always keep it a buck 🫶🏾
I'm glad to have seen this video (and your other doux product videos), i'm been considering trying a new gel (I've used adwoa beauty's and enjoyed it but its got a very light hold. but i tried camille's and it flakes no matter what), and getting into mousses, everyone hypes up this brand, but after your opinion, i feel like i'd have a similar opinion as you on the gels. though I may consider the mousse!
Please let us know if you experienced any extra hair fall on your next immediate wash day after using this 🤔. I've used a styler that caused so much dryness, my hair broke off in the shower more than usual. I really like that Quidad oil 😉. How did you like the Trepadora hair rinse?
I went to my stylist for my next wash day, and I got a haircut, so I am unaware if there was extra hair fall. I'm sorry you had that experience. That is so aggravating. That's great! The Trepadora hair rinse was a solid miss. It doesn't feel like it does much, but it suds up a lot. It's a moisturizing shampoo, but I prefer the Innersense Hydrating Hair Bath over the Trepadora. I won't be repurchasing it, but I will use it up to its completion. 🤎
My hair also feels like straw and super dry with Bee Girl, even through trials with multiple leave-ins. When I go to my curly stylist with this product in my hair she always asks me what I did to my hair? 🙃
I've never tried this product but the Mouse Def and Big Poppa given my curl everything!!! It was slightly hard but oil in my hands ro break the cast loosened everything up
I did the very first time and it came out horrible...I've been using the Big Poppa for over a month going by the directions and Love it! But all products don't work on everyone...
The doux products are great but here lately there are to many complaints about the NEW launches. I think they need to put out videos on using the products to clear up some of the problems people are having. Sister it’s not you a lot of people DON’T like this new product/line. I would just stick with the original foam as a topper with UFD and call it a day. I hate to see the manufacturer struggling because people aren’t for sure how to use it… God Bless and Much Success 👍🏾🙏🏾
No disrespect intended. As a stylist, I notice that she was heavy handed with the custard and that’s why it was crunchy……and when she was conditioning her hair 😳😩 entirely TOO much conditioner. It doesn’t take all that product. I use the Mousse Def and other products all the time with a light leave in on clients and don’t have that problem.
@@auntieneen2611 thanks for your professional advice. However as a consumer you have to show (us) clients how to use new products. So many products require different amounts, water to product ratios etc. Videos are so helpful ….. especially if you don’t have salon experience to help…. much success in your career God Bless 🙏🏾
Same results and did not let up after 3 days i wanted to love this product but it dried my hair out so bad and was hard would not move. I turned ny head while sitting up in my bed and it lightly brushed across my pillow and all you could hear was this scratchy crunch sound, thought it broke my hair off lol but it didn’t, but its a no for me
Thank you for being honest. My hair looked great when I used it but it was sooooo hard, crunchy and flaky. I tried it 2x's too. I couldnt even pick out my roots because they felt like glass. Yet, everyone was raving about it. I even saw someone use the foam first and then the honey stuff same result...
You’re absolutely welcome. It’s tough because while it does look great, the health of our hair is way more important than a look. I also should’ve looked into the ingredients before even trying it. Not the best. Yes to “felt like glass”. The most fragile my hair is ever felt 👎🏾 Thank you for sharing your experience 💕
I love the Doux gel and I use a spray leave-in and it's comes out great. The custard I could never get it to work for me it was HARD and the flakes were bad. I couldn't get the cast to break it was like a helmet. I reached out to the company to find out what I did wrong...waiting for a response.
@@BrittanyMia I definitely will but it's been a month and I have heard nothing yet. Hopefully they reach out soon cause I really want it to work so I can use the rest of it and not waste money
@@BrittanyMia It's been a month still no response from The Doux. So I tried it again last night (I know I love punishing myself). I used a thicker leave in conditioner (Cantu Leave-in) and applied lots of water and minimal custard. After sitting under dryer it was still crunchy but not like it was without thick leave-in. Before i went to bed i applied some oil. When i got up this morning I used some more oil to scrunch and I finally got the results I normally get with a wash and go. I don't have flakes. Hopefully this help! I will use the 2 jars I bought and not repurchase again.
@@justshinaie It’s nice to know that you are able to make it work! Disappointing that they have yet to respond. But, hey at least you aren’t going to waste that product! Thanks for the update.
I had a very similar experience! I did not use a crazy amount and used a LOT of water and my hair was still so dry and crunchy feeling and felt like straw. But it looked good and lasted all week though. Feeling disappointed in this product especially since it makes it seem like it’s a moisturizing product. I def feel like it’s a topper if anything
Try the Eden Body Works Almond Marshmallow Hydration Serum with it. I hate crunchy hair. I use that serum along with everything. No crunch ever. Otherwise, your hair is on pooooooint.
I know the doux says to use their products by itself but all their stylers leave my hair so dry when used alone. I had so much breakage with this method because of dryness and it took months until a stylist pointed out my hair is extremely dry. My stylist told me to go back to light leave ins. Everything on the internet not for everybody. Please don’t make the same mistake I did
Hey Brittany so sorry you your results were so dry but hair look fantastic. I watched a video by NJ Eberhart using this custard, she used a leave-in and her results were great. Perhaps a leave-in would also make a difference for you.♥️
I watched that video as well, right after I did my video 😆 her results were fantastic. A leave-in would make a difference, but this product was a one and done for me. I was just too turned off by how hard my hair was unfortunately. Thank you for the suggestion, though!
That’s a good question. For me, it was dry. However, had I not followed the directions and used a leave-in or a cream underneath it probably would have just given me a really strong hold.
Loveeeee your videos. I watch every single one😁 I have a few combo recommendations for you to maybe give a try if you haven’t already: UFD curly magic + Mielle organics pomegranate & honey curl sculpting custard UFD curly magic + Ouidad climate control gel Also, Mielle organics just came out with a max hold hair gel that claims to be great for wash & go’s too.
I used this product twice the first time with the mos def and a leave in and my hair was extremely dry and crunchy with flakes the second time I used with a coconut leave in and my hair was still extremely dry , the only thing I like in the line is the kid def everything else makes my hair super dry
I'm not going to lie your hair looks absolutely stunning!!! Sorry your having such a bad experience 😔😔😔 I see that you used a botanical spray, what exactly is that for? Is it a refresher spray? I might have to go and grab a bottle of that because it looks so hydrating!!!!
@brittanymia This popped up on my feed and I don't remember if I commented when I first saw the vid some months ago. Listen... that custard had me SCARED to touch my hair. It was so stuck together, dry, and harrddd. Like not just a cast or crunch (bc I don't mind either) but like CRISPY and stuck together all over. I ended up putting Camille Rose twisting cream on it the next day and it softened it up tremendously. For me, I thought it was just user error on my part. But I haven't touched that stuff since. LOL. But then I did fall in love with Mousse Def and Crazy Sexy Curl foams... which now, after being on a consistent hair routine for the last 8 months, I can use either of them solo and my hair still feels great. I'mma probably forever hard pass on that custard though. I was traumatized... no exaggeration. LOLOL.
I've learned to work with the foams, but i'm glad i'm not the only one who was left SHOOK (in the worst way) by the results of the Bee Girl. I thought my hair was going to disintegrate when I thouched it 😫.
Totally understandable that it didn't fit the type of feeling you enjoy for your hair. I am glad you showed and spoke on it though because I am one of thoes people who do like hard casts/crunchy feel (at least for the 1st few days) my hair can take them well so maybe this is a product for me.
I’m laughing 😂 at all the comments saying she used too much……quality formulated gels like Innersense and Trepadora are concentrated but a little water fixes the crunch and flakes…… I think she used the amount needed for her hair type.
Lol thank you!!! It’s crazy because I felt like I was using a small amount, and adding water in between. But, everything doesn’t work for everybody and I don’t want to try too hard to make this product, or this brand, work for me. Appreciate your comment.
I feel like if I have to go onto a website or ig reel to see how to use a particular, that’s a bit much for me. Everything ain’t for everyone. I have fine, low density hair so this custard would be a no for me. Thanks for the demo and review!
I always watch and like your videos. I always wish I could wash my hair the way you do yours. But I know I'd end up with enough tangles to make me cry😞
Thank you. Give it a try. I washed my hair in four sections for the majority of my natural hair experience, and I thought that was the only way I could do it because of knots and tangles. But, I found that shampooing in a downward motion and separating the hair as I go makes it so much quicker and easier to shampoo. 🤎
@@BrittanyMia I got up and washed my hair today, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by simply following your tips my hair was not a horror story at the end. Thanks again
Thank you for this review. I was hype about try it, but your whole description of how your hair felt. I don’t want that. It really did define your hair though.
Absolutely. I think if you want to give it a try, you should! I used the right amount for me, but others will say I used too much so maybe try it with a leave-in. Thanks Dani ♥
@@BrittanyMia I’m definitely going to take your word on this one. I’d like the definition of Wetline and Eco just didn’t like that dry feeling. And I used leave ins with both. I chuckled when you said that is what your hair felt like. I understood that whole statement totally 😩😂😂
@@denyshadials5702 usually it’s because I am recording but when I’m not recording it’s because I always get out of the shower during the conditioning step. I lose hot water really quickly in my apartment complex and it takes time for it to get hot again. So I’m counting that time in between as well.
Exactly my point! Anything advertised as soft hold, whether I used too much or not, should never give me Eco styler or Wetline hold. Now, that’s just how I feel. I think as a topper it would be great. If you give it a try, come back and let me know how it worked out for you.
This gel is amazing!!!!!
I agree with you 💯 I love the hold I’m trying to have the style last for a while.
💯...This was A favorite of mine in the summer to beat humidity. I agree with the video the "no crunch" is misleading.
I had the same experience when I first used the Bee Girl custard. Suuuuuuuuuuuuuper crunchy and I totally hated how my hair felt. I appreciate that you drew the line. No need to force yourself to like something that isn’t for you. Life is too short.
Thanks Chioma 💕I totally agree.
I use this gel as a topper after applying UFD & ICH. Results give me the crunch I love and my set last for 5-7 days.
Thanks for sharing how you use the product, and your experience with it.
How do you prevent the flaking?
I totally agree you with on this review! The dryness is insane. The second time I tried it, I used leave-in..it felt better but it was still crunchy hard just not as much. My hair still feels dry days later...especially the back neck area.
Damn!! It’s so crazy that it felt like that when it looked THAT GOOD! That definition and separation was crazy and the hold looked STRONG 😭😭
So crazy! It looked great, but I can do that with Kinky Curly AND have moisture. Laaawd. It was like straw 😣
I will be buying this, especially for the humid weather 🤷🏽♀️ 😅 thanks girl
Hope you like it!
This is a great review!! It makes me wanna try the product cause I personally love definition and crunch 😅
You should! So many people who like a strong crunch absolutely love it.
I used it for the first time this week and love it!
I swear by this custard but I use the Crazy Sexy Curl mousse under it. If you want less crunch, add more water / refresh you hair with water. You can use a light leave in like the Innersense leave in spay or Kinky Curly leave in. I use the Innersense leave in with water to refresh sometimes too.
i did the exact same thing you did.
Thanks for sharing how you use it!
So glad I saw this video. Her has is beautiful, however I understand not everyone likes a strong hold. I just bought this as I love a gel with a cast. I purchased the leave-in as well as the mousse to this line when I saw your comment that it helps to soften the hold.
Have you tried the mousse def underneath
@@watkinsabob123 I haven’t but I think that would be a fire combo
Pleas try again though wihr UFD under. It was giving Innersense I Create Hold for me but a little more crunchy and humidity resistance. Those product is amazing in high humidity.
I've already returned the product, so I won't be trying it again. I'm glad you like it, and that it works for you 💜
I totally agree with you! I used the product once, never again. It felt like I had a protein treatment, I washed it out immediately!,
Acurate description! Thank you for sharing❕
Helllla strong. Probably, but I'm good on trying it again. It's not for me, but thanks for the tips! They'll be helpful for others.
The mousse does this too. With and without leave in. It looks amazing and seemed to last but I could tell it was extremely drying on wash day.
Thanks for sharing 💗
Hopped on YT 'cause I thought I used this product incorrectly. Glad to know it wasn't just me. I'll be sticking with the mousse on this line. Dont have to put anything under it, doesn't dry me out, and my hair feels really good.
I had the same experience with this custard. Definition went CRAZY, but it felt and sounded HORRIBLE😭I did try it again with UFD Curly Magic as a base gel and it definitely helped with the cast, but of course by like day 3 it was snowing in May!
🤣 That’s where it gets me! With that kind of cast it has to flake. Tfs!
I used it a couple of times and it feels dry and crispy, BUT LOOKS GOOD. But there’s flakes flying everywhere like I was skiing in the Aspens😆
😭😂
@@BrittanyMia may I ask what you didn’t care for, in regards to the ingredients?
What do you use with the twist gel?
I'm with you on this girl, I do NOT play hard, dry, crunchy hair no matter how good it looks. I need my hair to feel just as good as it looks. I love for my curls to blow in the wind and move and bounce when I shake my head. Just hearing you explain how your hair was feeling was making me cringe.😖 Thank you so much for this honest review, I know not to buy that product.😉👍
☝🏾 You’re so welcome!
Thank you for sharing. I tossed it as well. Didn't even want to try it again.
Lol when you read the information on the jar.. This is giving me pause because I was thinking of buying it. I love crunchy hair but not to the point it feels dry.
If you do purchase it, I highly recommend using a leave in underneath, despite what the directions say. I'd also use it as a topper, if anything. 💜
I think I’m going to use it with the honey moose underneath. I had the same experience as you with the Doux glaze pop lock product, it left my hair looking so defined but it felt incredibly dry and crunchy.
That could help with the crunch and dryness. Let me know how that works for you if you give it a go.
I prefer the Bee girl custard on my own hair because I can make it crunchy or soft /fluffy depending on how much product and water used
Thanks for sharing.
Had the same experience and I used the bee girl mouse with it! Day two, I had to refresh with water and I normally don’t have to refresh at all!
☝🏾‼️
She actually says on her Instagram that it will leave a crunch because thats how the product is made for a strong hold if you want to soften it use it with the mouse
I understand that it says that on her Instagram, I just don’t understand why it doesn’t say it on the jar, and instead says the exact opposite.
You shouldn’t have to look on there instagram to see what a product is for
I use the Doux's spray leave in under Big poppa. Day 1 and 2 are crunchy but soft on day 3.
Thanks for sharing!
I had the same result. I am going to really use alot of water next time. I felt like I used more than enough water, but it made my hair feel so dry. And I usually use Uncle Funky's and Innersense I create Hold.
If anything, I would suggest to use some type of moisturizing leave in product with it when you use it again.
I hope that will work.
It would literally be a best seller because longer teeth would benefit the lot of us.
I HAD THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE WITH THE SAME PRODUCTS! But my curls didn't even look good when my hair dried. Love your content!😍
Thank you!
Can you do the Anthony Dickey method maybe for 7 days??❤
It left a little crunch BUT I use a leave-in and after it dries I put olive oil. That combo makes for a good wash-n- go for me. (High porosity/Type 3-B hair).
Thanks for sharing how you use it.
i used it as topper. didnt even try to use it as a base. i used it on top of the mousse.
Makes sense. How'd you like it over the mousse?
Lol I just finisher using it! Before I came to watch just to see like uhmmm. I used a leave in and oil in my scalp. I want to see what tomorrow brings
Give us an update! How are you liking it now?
Yes, I have it in red. I hate holding it in my palm lol I’m one of those people. Thanks for sharing though!
Thanks! I'm excited for you guys to see it here on YT 🤭
Your hair looks soo good I’m tempted to try out the custard, but the crunch and dryness 😅, let me know if trying it with a leave in solves that.
Please do! Give it a try, because it may work for you. But I will not be using this product again.
My hair seems to be hold/cast resistant, so this video sold the product for me. Sorry it didn't work for you, but I appreciate your review. Love your channel and please keep being honest.
I hope it does work out for you. All good, it was worth a try. Thank you!!
Im late, but they actually have a tangle teezer with longer teeth. Its called the ultimate hairbrush, I love it!
Yes, the big Poppa application wasn’t easy which automatically makes it a no for me. I don’t like products that are hit or miss. Thanks for sharing!
It doesn't break your hair I use it all the time. It's a cast use some oil by the end of the week it'll feel soft. I use oil under mines. Your hair looks really good!!
Thanks for the recommendation. It’s not for me, so I won’t be using it again, but I appreciate you sharing your tips and tricks. Thank you!!
No, the drier your hair, the more hold it has.
I love this product!!!!
That gel was stiff for me too but the curls came out great. I washed it out after 3/4 days. I like the mousse better.
I still need to try the mousse but I’ve heard great things about it so far.
Let me know if that works for you!
I love the doux mousse def, but not the big poppa gel, but I couldn't remember why and I think that's why. It made my hair way too hard. I'm pretty much done with all gels! I HATE all clear gels and now I know not to try this one. Definitely sticking to mousse only curly hair routines.
I had the exact same experience with this gel. The crunchiest hair I've EVER had. After day 2 i just had to re-wash my hair. I couldnt' do it.
To each their own. So many people love it! Not I, lol. I'm glad it work for you.
I’d love to see you rank all the combos! Or share your top 5 favorites! 😍 every 25 videos or so.
That’s a great idea! Thanks for sharing 🤎
Tangle teazer came out with brushes with longer teeth. Just got mine from Ulta.
Is there a specific name for the brush with longer teeth?
I tried it and my hair was so hard, that I was afraid to touch it. It felt like a hard Aphoghee treatment. 😒
Is it possible that your hair would’ve been less crunchy if you would have air dried versus going under the dryer?
Air drying takes entirely too long for me, and I wash my hair at night so that wasn't an option. But, that is a possibility.
Please let us know if you experienced any extra hair fall on your next immediate wash day after using this 🤔. I've used a styler that caused so much dryness, my hair broke off in the shower more than usual. I really like that Quidad oil 😉. How did you like the Trepadora hair rinse?
I experienced hair fall after doing this same exact method with this product 😩
@@lexnthecityyy 😳 that's terrible. Thank you for sharing
Did you add any oil afterwards? That may have helped to soften it up and loosen over a few days.
I've never tried this product but the Mouse Def and Big Poppa given my curl everything!!! It was slightly hard but oil in my hands ro break the cast loosened everything up
A ton of people love this product, so give it a try! However, I’d suggest using it with a leave in underneath. 💕
I did the very first time and it came out horrible...I've been using the Big Poppa for over a month going by the directions and Love it! But all products don't work on everyone...
Mine keeps coming out crusty and flaky 🥴the definition is amazing but idk how I feel about this here product. More than likely will take back
Yeah. Now that it’s been a few months I don’t mind trying it again. However, only as a topper and I won’t use half as much 😅
Just curious if you ever tried using the leave in conditioner before?
Let me tell you how you got me this week. That thumbnail. That thumbnail said... “come look at this shit”. I saw it. I recognized it. I cackled.
🥴I couldn’t help myself, I was so pissed🤣
I used it for a twist out for the first time last week..It does have a strong hold..but I notice I had to use an oil to break the cast...
Even with an oil, the cast didn’t break very much for me.
Hi Brittany! Love your hair! Love your videos.!! They are very succinct and to the point. 😊 What are your top two WNG combos?
Thanks Amber! Kinky Curly, and UFD + I create hold.
I hate to see the manufacturer struggling because people aren’t for sure how to use it…
God Bless and Much Success 👍🏾🙏🏾
Thanks Harriet. While I'm not a fan of the Doux products, I do hope they can clear up the issues folks are having. God Bless you too, and thanks!
Videos are so helpful ….. especially if you don’t have salon experience to help….
much success in your career
God Bless 🙏🏾
Same results and did not let up after 3 days i wanted to love this product but it dried my hair out so bad and was hard would not move. I turned ny head while sitting up in my bed and it lightly brushed across my pillow and all you could hear was this scratchy crunch sound, thought it broke my hair off lol but it didn’t, but its a no for me
i loved this video! im glad i stumbled across your channel because it has inspired me to take care of my hair 😂 love your hair btw. new sub !
😂 thank you! welcome 🤗
Thanks for sharing, Shinaie. I'm glad I'm not alone on this one 😅. Please, do let me know what they say if/when they respond.
@@BrittanyMia I definitely will but it's been a month and I have heard nothing yet. Hopefully they reach out soon cause I really want it to work so I can use the rest of it and not waste money
@@justshinaie Hopefully they do. I loath wasting money, and bad customer service 🥴.
Thanks for sharing, Katherine! That's good to know. I agree, a topper if anything.
I love a honest review
Then you’re in the right place 🫱🏾🫲🏿
Try the Eden Body Works Almond Marshmallow Hydration Serum with it. I hate crunchy hair. I use that serum along with everything. No crunch ever. Otherwise, your hair is on pooooooint.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Please don’t make the same mistake I did
Thanks for sharing your experience, Alexia. True dat; everything on the internet is not for everybody. Heard 💕
Samething happened to me !!! What I did was when it completely dried I put a little oil in the palms of my hands and stretched the cast out
Is it dry or does the product just have a very strong hold that you don’t like??
That’s a good question. For me, it was dry. However, had I not followed the directions and used a leave-in or a cream underneath it probably would have just given me a really strong hold.
Loveeeee your videos. I watch every single one😁
I have a few combo recommendations for you to maybe give a try if you haven’t already:
UFD curly magic + Mielle organics pomegranate & honey curl sculpting custard
UFD curly magic + Ouidad climate control gel
Also, Mielle organics just came out with a max hold hair gel that claims to be great for wash & go’s too.
Thanks for the reccomndations! I've taken note of them 💜 And thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
hello, I enjoy your videos. please how often do you use blow dryer and other heat tools
Helloooo. Thanks! I sit under my hooded dryer 1-2 times a week. I don’t typically use my blow dryer.
@@BrittanyMia thank you so much for responding....this is a lot helpful...
I used this product twice the first time with the mos def and a leave in and my hair was extremely dry and crunchy with flakes the second time I used with a coconut leave in and my hair was still extremely dry , the only thing I like in the line is the kid def everything else makes my hair super dry
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thank ya! All good, we live and we learn. I use that as a refreshing spray for my WNG in the morning. I love it!
@@BrittanyMia Yes! Disintegrate!!! LOL. Definitely was shook!
Totally understandable that it didn't fit the type of feeling you enjoy for your hair. I am glad you showed and spoke on it though because I am one of thoes people who do like hard casts/crunchy feel (at least for the 1st few days) my hair can take them well so maybe this is a product for me.
Absolutely. If that crunch is what you like, this is the product for you! Thanks for sharing ✨
I would love to see you review the bomb ass fro jelly
Thanks for your suggestion. I'll take note!
How do you dry your hair? Hooded drier or diffuser?
Hooded dryer
Have you tried to use her hair cream and that ?
Nope, I haven't.
I think she did too, AND she did it in the shower and her hair was soaked, so we can't say she didn't use enough water.
I feel like if I have to go onto a website or ig reel to see how to use a particular, that’s a bit much for me. Everything ain’t for everyone.
I have fine, low density hair so this custard would be a no for me. Thanks for the demo and review!
I agree. Sure ain't! You're welcome. Thanks for your comment 💕
it looks amazing!
Thank you!
@@BrittanyMia thanks for the advice. Downwards motion and separate with fingers, got it. Wish me luck I'm gonna try it
@@Tai-chan. Yes! Update me on how it goes.
You said it’s giving wetline🤣 I love wetline I know most people hate gel cast though.
On average how long does it take you to do your hair ?
It takes me like 3-5 hours depending on the day. About an hour and a half of that is sitting under the hooded dryer.
@@BrittanyMia
Do you shingle?
@@denyshadials5702 nah I don’t. I believe in this video I had to a little bit but I typically don’t.
@@BrittanyMia
(Honest question) Then why does it take so long? I was genuinely shocked by your answer.
@@denyshadials5702 usually it’s because I am recording but when I’m not recording it’s because I always get out of the shower during the conditioning step. I lose hot water really quickly in my apartment complex and it takes time for it to get hot again. So I’m counting that time in between as well.
(LOL). I completely understand your frustration; however, your hair looks so DAMN GOOD!
🤣 thank you
Also be careful. This product builds up quickly. You’ll need to cleanse it off quite well when you use it even as a topper. Speaking from experience.
Thanks for the tip.
what kind of brush do you use?
I use the Felicia Leatherwood brush (yellow), or the Ultimate Tangle Teaser.
The fact that it’s advertised as soft hold made me not buy it lol I’m now thinking of buying and using it with UFD to not have quite so much crunch
Exactly my point! Anything advertised as soft hold, whether I used too much or not, should never give me Eco styler or Wetline hold. Now, that’s just how I feel. I think as a topper it would be great. If you give it a try, come back and let me know how it worked out for you.
