This is how I describe King Richard: Somehow likable without having a single redeeming quality.
And he only got BETTER from there, thanks to character development. :)
Until season two. (Hell, maybe even the end of season one? Depending on what one might consider "redeemable".)

I've had the pleasure of meeting Tim Omundson (King Richard) and let me be the first to say that he is absolutely HILARIOUS in real life too! Also a stand up guy!

I think he’s the best actor in this, but I do think they have an outstanding cast.
The physical comedy in this is fantastic. Obviously the singing is sublime, but Richards movements as well as the faces and moves of the extras just brings it to another level
The cook dancing in the background for me is the funniest part of the whole thing

The joust had to be the funniest thing I've seen in years. I didn't expect much from this mini series but a few giggles. It looked to be a mix of Princess Bride and Monty Python all done in musical form and it pretty much is BUT that one scene alone is PRICELESS

I worked on this show as an extra , it was all filmed in England mostly the south west . This song was filmed at Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire as was a lot of it .We were all just singing and dancing to playback and couldnt make head nor tail of the story or the song as it was filmed in segments.I think we filmed it around October it wasnt very long ago ,we were filming Wolf Hall just a couple of weeks before in the same location my scenes were mostly with Tim Omundson who Id never herd of before. It was all good fun but hard work my feet were killing me after as my boots were too small.

Considering the Great hall we see in 1st season is definitely of Caerphilly Castle in Wales, I don't believe you at all. This song was filmed in Caerphilly castle. Absolutely sure of it. Anybody who doesn't believe me, can go on google maps and check it for themselves.

I love both Galavant and King Richard. Suffice it to say that both story is good for each character. Anyone who doesn’t realize that they are both each, is not the reach of reality.

If you ever feel bad for not being first, remember he was the second choice for this role
Yep, the story of how Omundson got the role is epic. Creator Dan Fogelman wanted him from the first audition but ABC/Disney wanted a "big British movie star" in the part and offered it to at least one--some articles say, more than one--British actors.(No one's ever said publicly who was offered the role, though there were guesses out there.) Meanwhile Omundson took singing lessons, worked incredibly hard, and spent five months, a LONG time in TV casting terms, waiting to see if he'd FINALLY end up being cast. He had to keep auditioning for different people at ABC and nearly gave up but Fogelman just kept saying, wait, it's going to be you. Thank goodness Fogelman was right and Tim Omundson got cast! He's said it's his favorite role he's ever done (and that's including Lassiter on "Psych" which he adored doing)!
