I feel like Athol Trollip has a huge personal issue against John Steenhuizen & the DA that he can't get over & it's skewing his objectivity about what's best for the country. The worst thing is when these politicians allow their egos to get in the way of doing the job & he speaks with such vitriol & bitterness, that it gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

Thank you Mike, Action SA needed to hear how we all feel. Athol is seriously mistaken if he thinks they or the ANC will feature in the provincial elections again. Herman caused too much damage and the ANC cheated themselves into parliament this past election, they will be punished severely.
Generally, all political parties have reached their ceiling, they won't grow beyond where they are. The only thing is for them to drop as more people are starting not to be interested in voting. The ANC will only loose votes because of breakaways.

ActionSA's sin, in my view, is not agreeing to work with the ANC in Joburg per se, but that they unilaterally withdrew from a stable coalition in Tshwane.
The DA refused to support them for the Tshwane speaker position, whereas ActionSA supported the DA for the mayor position.

If only the DA was surprised at this situation, ASA might have plausible deniability, but when the VP+, ACDP and IFP is just as surprised then its ASA and ASA alone's fault in pulling out and betraying their voters, some are ratepayers and some aren't who voted for ASA. Cilliers only asked the ANC not to table a motion of no confidence in Tshwane, then the DA won't do the same in Ekhuruleni, that's to bring stability. Why would Cilliers want form a GLU in Tshwane when there is already a majority. Athol is blatantly lying here to Mike's face and the rest of us. Cilliers spoke to the ASA councilors in Tshwane and they're happy with the coalition, they're being forced to vote along national lines and not with the local residents. I hope ASA get HEAVILY punished in 2026. The people of Tshwane will now suffer under an ANC-EFF-ASA coaltiton that will reverse any good that has been done since 2021.
John never said that they will pull out of the GNU if the BELA bill was signed, because Clause 4 & 5 of the bill has been put on ice for 3 months for consultations since those 2 clauses are the biggest problem with the bill. John facilitated the leaders of Afriforum and Solidariteit to speak directly to the president to not implement clause 4 & 5. According to John the DA will only leave the GNU if the economy isn't growing, jobs aren't being created and if the ANC starts to attack the constitution(like the MKP wants to). DA won't pull out just because of a dissagreement like this, the ANC & DA will always dissagree on something and that will rarely justify the DA leaving the GNU.
What good has the DA done so far? Name 1/2 not one

As a FF+ supporter myself, I have witnessed the deceit and dishonnesty of the DA far longer than you, but I can honnestly say that Cilliers Brink have bent over backwards to accomodate their coalition partners, more than any other DA leader I know. After the elections it is clear the only thing ASA want to do, is to stay relevant and not lose any more support. So they will make bed fellows with anyone. Herman Mashaba is still bitter that DA removed him as mayor of Johurg. As much as i am not a big fan of the DA, but Cilliers Brink has been doing a great job in Tshwane and a resident I have seen tremendous progress in the Metro under his leadership, and now ASA wants to remove him not out of principle but because they feel burnt by DA actions elsewhere, Herman is now a proper SA politician 😅😅😅

Used to like mr mashaba as mayor of jo'burg, but when I saw his reasons for leaving DA, I started to doubt him seriously. Since he's entrenched my doubts to the point of not trusting him at all.
As for mr Trollip, my suggestion to him would be to seriously consider what he himself actually stand for and what does he want to represent.
Avtion has a problem with DA in Tswane. Did they go to DA to try to sort out their objections. But to bring down a city that is improving is criminal. Herman is still hung up because of Jhb.

Action SA has some loose arrangement with the ANC regarding Gauteng Metros. The ANC is aware that EFF is needed to get a majority in Tshwane só ANC nacional and provincial are not in agreement about the distuption about to happen in Tshwane.
Action SA may yet be surprised that the ANC is not yet ready to pull the rug out from under Brink - because of the EFF factor. At least i hope sanity will prevail.
Have supported Atholl Trollip over the years, and ActionSA, but do not support his views or the party stance on metro governance, especially Jhb and Tshwane. Sort your issues as we as voters will move. Conveniently overlooked Tshwane Deputy Major who is working with the Major and not confusing personal vendetta.

I have family in Pretoria so I go there sometimes, it’s such a well managed and clean city.
