** TIPS INCOMING **
You are Safe: On the ground floor, lower ground floor, in the elevator, and in the stairwell. Also, as long as you don't run face first in to Jimmy, he won't whack you.
Every time you use the scry mirror anywhere BUT the kitchen on the ground floor, you summon Jimmy to your floor.
If you have a deadbolt key to a room, you can summon Jimmy to that room, hide in the wardrobe/closet, and, if he hides in the bathroom, you can run out the front door, turn around, and lock him in that room temporarily. (Very handy for doing things on the top floor).
When the lights flicker, that is telling you there is ghost activity for you to witness.

To add to what the person above said, scrying also resets Jimmy's position if he's dead bolted in a room.
Edit: And when you get caught by Jimmy, you will lose your keys as well as your spirit box. You can retrieve your keys in the box on the desk on the ground floor!!

@@arcynull ADHD be like 😆 I just started watching his videos and I’ve been recently diagnosed with adult ADHD so I feel like I recognized it even before he’s just come out and said so.
Maybe he doesn't like it. He seemed to not like the scares, and he also skipped some parts and overedits the beginning to be more funny.
Game tips for Jack:
- Call Jimmy when you’re in a room to lure him to the other side, if you get stuck.
- If you have deadlock keys to a specific room you’re in, you’re going to need them to lock Jimmy inside the room you’re in. If he tries to come in the room, wait a couple seconds so he can see you and hide in the closet. If you do this correctly, he’ll be hiding in the bathroom. QUICKLY run to the door and get out of the room. Use the deadlock keys to lock him in the room which should buy you some time.
- Sound is key to figuring out where Jimmy is on the floor you’re on.
- You can hide in the closet if Jimmy tries to come into the room but be quick about it, unless you want to lock him in a room. (Edited)
- Jimmy will sometimes crouch when he’s at the peephole so be careful when leaving rooms.
- He takes your keys sometimes when he jumpscares you. Make sure you get your keys back. They’re scattered around the rooms. (Edited)
- If you’re in a bright room, the best place to hide is in the closet. If you’re in a dark room, you should hide in the bathroom. If you hide in the bathroom in a bright room, chances are that Jimmy will know you’re there. (Added)
- Search all the rooms for items, even if there’s nothing you need for the story in those specific rooms. It makes it a lot easier so that you don’t have to go back and forth. (Added)
- Dark rooms have no items in it. (Added)
- If you run into a dark room while Jimmy is chasing you, he will automatically go in and search for you. If he sees you go into that room, he will catch you, whether you’re hiding or not. (Added)
If anyone has any more tips, leave them in the replies! Boost so Jack can see this!!!
Sometimes, even if you think Jimmy sees you hide in the closet, he doesn't always go to the bathroom. Exit the closet and stand there a second to see if you can hear Jimmy outside the room or not. If you don't, he's more than likely hiding in the bathroom.
you can call jimmy from a room and wherever he comes from you go that way just don't turn around or else he'll get you also he can't get you in a hallway if you're standing still
An easy way to explain how Jimmy works is to think of it as a game board. Every time you move, you're moving onto the next game board title. Correct me if I'm wrong, but From what I've seen Jimmy only jump scares you if you look at the tile he's standing on. He can be right behind you, but he can't jump scare you unless you turn and look.
That's also part of how you trap him in the room. You have to hide in the closet and hope and wait for jimmy to hide in the bathroom, in an attempt to surprise you. Go up to the door and leave but DO NOT turn to look at the bathroom! That will trigger jimmy because that's the game board tile he's standing on. I hope that helps!
I think it’s randomized whether he takes your keys, scrying mirror, or compass, unless you’re on hard mode in which case he always takes your keys. And it’s guaranteed for him to take the device. The device will always show up in the first floor store room after he catches you.

Tips!
•Avoid hiding in dark rooms; Jimmy has a higher chance of finding you.
•Calling to Jimmy can be useful if you know Jimmy is in the direction of where you need to go. You call from a room and unless he’s super close, he will walk past it. You can then leave immediately and go where you need to go. (Markiplier’s strategy)
•Locking Jimmy in a room will trap him for about two minutes. You just call him, and wait to enter the wardrobe until you’re sure he can see you. Wait until he pretends to leave, then leave and deadlock the room. If you don’t have the deadlock key for that room, it won’t work.
•Scrying will tell you either the location of the item you need to progress the story, or will show you the item you need to pair with a memory while speaking to a ghost. If you’re stuck on someone’s story, it will help a lot. Don’t be ashamed to use it every step of the way. Also, the compass will show you the direction of a ghost, since the scrying mirror will sometimes only tell you the floor a ghost is on.
•Patience is key. Noise indicators are accurate and helpful. If you hear him and he sounds close, you might want to call him and manipulate his movements, otherwise he might get you around a corner if you try and leave. If he seems far, you’re probably safe to leave the room.
•I could be wrong, but I believe that yellow in the bottom right indicates he is looking for you, and red indicates he is right behind you and you are in danger.
•You lose all your keys (except the master key) when Jimmy gets you. Normally, it’s not a huge deal, unless you have stair keys and haven’t unlocked the stairs yet. He sometimes locks the stairways after he catches you, but not always, so try and quickly unlock stairs once you find the key.
•The floors get smaller as you go up. First and second floors are said to have the most confusing layout, which can be troublesome while on the run from Jimmy and may mean you get lost and have to enter a room to hide from him. However, the third floor is very small, which means Jimmy can find you easily and you have to be very careful going around corners.
•If you feel he might be near you or can hear him near you, wait for a second, his head or shadow might appear from around a corner. Again, he can’t attack from behind, so there is no risk involved with staying still. He will only attack as you turn a corner, while you’re hiding, or leaving a room. Once you press the elevator button, you are safe as well.

Biggest tips I can give *!NO SPOILERS!* :
1. never scry on any floor other than the basement and ground floor: it brings Jimmy to your floor. I don't know how but whenever you scry he somehow finds his way to you
2. Whenever you die you lose your keys- don't panic, you can find them again. not sure where they go- people say they go to their original location, some say it’s randomized, and others are saying they go to the front desk. TLDR: the keys aren’t gone forever.
3. The menu button will go red if you are in danger: it keeps you from saving and generally means Jimmy is near enough to bop you on the head- take the hint and find somewhere to hide.
like so jack can so or copy&paste so there’s better chance of him seeing it!

When jack got bonked at around 17:10 how come the menu wasn't red?
@@gubbyrelle it’s because the player didn’t see jimmy peak his head. So it won’t give you the heads up, it just makes it harder and the jumpscare more scarier
@@gubbyrelle he technically wasn’t in danger because Jimmy wasn’t coming too him- it’s usually when you’re in a bedroom and you try to save while inside, which means Jimmy is either waiting outside/about to come in (meaning you’re trapped unless you wait him out) or, if you hid in the closet, he’s in the room, in which you’re dead unless you leave right away.

Tip: Don't use the scrying mirror at the hotel doors, just use it at the kitchen because it informs Jimmy where you are. That's why it's hard to outmanoeuvre him. Hope this helps.
Edit: I removed "exactly" but yeah it's still the same, when you use the mirror it spawns Jimmy almost instantly to the floor where you are. I've read comments in Mark's gameplay, and this is more accurate I think. I believe it was also brought up at the tutorial.
That doesn't work. Jimmy really doesn't know where you are, unless he actually sees you. If he sees you, then it's really hard to shake him off. Also, some tricks don't work twice on Jimmy.

The only way to prevent him from spawning on the floor you're at, is when you don't break line of sight of the lift room. Also, Jimmy cannot spawn until you talk to Amy Bell. Thus you can get a major headstart on Jimmy.

The icon on the bottom right is a meter of when you’re in danger or not. If the icon is white you’re safe, but if it turns red you have to hide.
I mean your never safe in this hotel, but yes when its Red Jimmy is actively hunting/chasing you.

@@depufull Nah, if the circle is red, that doesn't mean he's always in the bathroom. The circle stays red while you're in the room, and if you hear Jimmy call out in the halls, then the circle turns yellow again.

Tip with no spoilers: calling Jimmy while In a room at the doorway will make him come down that hallway, if you watch him pass the eyehole, wait a few seconds, and if you don't miss click, you can outrun him easily and go off down where he came from without him catching you and he will loose track of you. Also, if you dont hear footsteps all of a sudden, when it sounded like he was very close by, there is a high chance he may be hiding behind a corner, if you wait long enough, he will peak around the corner, so then you know he is there, and can run away. You can also see Jimmy through the peephole as he's opening the door.
Extra tips ive missed and You have around 5 - 10 seconds to hide in the closet or bathroom. you can also hide in the closet and if you do, there is a high chance Jimmy will hide in the bathroom, in this case, run straight to the door and open It immediately. If you have the deadlock key, you can lock Jimmy in the room for a good while.

AlSO ALSO ALSO If you hide in the closet rather than the bathroom when jimmy is coming into the room (seeing him through peephole/ hearing him turn the lock) he will hide in the bathroom to get you. In this instance exit the closet and room VERY QUICKLY and lock the door behind you. This will lock Jimmy in the room and give you a good amount of time without him following you.

The scariest part is that much like Alien: Isolation, Jimmy learns new tricks and becomes vastly more aggressive the closer you are to completing the game

Here's a little tip for ya jack:
Jimmy can jumpscare when you turn a certain point of where he is next to you. He can't attack you if you don't turn towards him. So if jimmy is behind you, DON'T TURN AROUND. This is useful when going to the elevator since he can't attack you inside the elevator. Same goes if he's across the the hall where the elevator is you can just go to the elevator without looking around.

If he's hiding in the corner by the lift though, you get bonked, and its really hard to tell if he's there or not

TIPS ON HOW TO AVOID JIMMY (no spoilers):
* Sound is key, listen for his footsteps and voice.
* Calling him, seeing him walk past and moving out of the room in the opposite direction is a good strategy.
* IMPORTANT: he is a danger on the ground floor, he even walks past the elevators.
* Sometimes he will pretend not to see you in the bathroom, then kill you anyways.
* When he's really near, don't just go into a room, make a b line to the bathroom immediately.
* DO NOT hide in the closet, he will almost always kill you or pretend to leave while actually hiding in the bathroom himself, either way you're dead.
* Peep hole: sometimes he will wait outside of a room crouched and you will see him get up, so please stop leaving rooms so carelessly.
* Jimmy cannot sprint at you, so do not worry if you see him pop up far away.
* Jimmy can only get you when you're facing him, so just run in the opposite direction and you should be fine.

He doesnt always kill you when you go in the closet. I played the game and he never killed me. A few times he did go into the bathroom tho so I waited and he left the bathroom and just went outside.
But he did kill me when I went out of the closet but never when I was inside it. But I just waited and he left the bathroom other times

You know, it's nice for the ghosts to actually try to help the main characters and not kill them constantly. It is a breath of fresh air. It's also a fun concept that hasn't been done all that much.
Same! I also feel like having the ghost try to help so the character doesn’t end up like them adds tragedy and humanity that a lot of horror stories lack. It’s one of my favorite tropes
