I have a v6 SXT plus package and love love love it. The only time I wish I had a v8 is when faster cars challenge me to a duel. Other than that, my v6 gets compliments on a daily basis.
Whats crazy is the 68 Charger came with a V8 that has 290hp which is literally 2hp less than the 2015 and Up Charger SXTs N yes i get that its old but just trying to put things to perspective, these v6 dodge arent 'that' bad
At my age! I can't believe you can buy a v6 with 300 horsepower. A small block standard v8 from the 1960s to the early 2000s barley had 180 to 220 horsepower and got 10 miles to the gallon. You kids just don't understand the luxury you have now. I recommend everyone drive an old school v8 and then drive a modern-day v6! It's unreal how much things have changed in just a short period of time. Hell, smart phones have only been around roughly 10 years, give or take. Think about it! A modern-day minivan has more power than a v8 Mustang or camaro of the 1990s. The world we live in.. . Lol
In my opinion the V8 is worth it. I was driving a 4 cylinder up to 2 months ago. I test drove a V6 Charger and a V8. I thought that I would be impressed with a power increase of the V6, but I really wasn’t. These cars (Challenger and Charger) are heavy. They really shine with the larger engines.
@@Twisted86 Those 3.6s aren’t really set up for boost so in a way it’s not really worth it even if you supercharge it you will barely beat 5.7s and those engines just don’t output good sound to me even modified
Most people buy a v6 because it’s a great looking car. No one buys it to speed. That’s just being honest. 🤷🏽♀️ You buy an r/t just to say it’s a HEMI. These two levels are just entry levels. When you really want to have fun and race or track your car then you pay more for the engines. But the 3.6 and 5.7 are commuter cars.
I really appreciate this video. Ive been struggling on what challenger to pick, but i really think youve been able to help me make up my mind and choose the RT. Thank you!
I love my 2015 B5 Blue SXT Plus Challenger. I'd like to have the R/T but it was $10K more brand new! I'm glad I pocketed that! I'm married anyways so who cares? lol.
Bravo for pointing out torque as the really important parameter instead of hp, on the street. I don't drive my 2013 R/T 6 speed on the Autobahn in Germany but do drive on the USA interstate highways, so torque is the important parameter to me.
Im really having trouble deciding the AWD V6 or the RWD RT with a manual transmission. I've found a few deals around the same price. Is the fuel cost and mpg really that different? Also how does insurance look or compare?
I’m currently saving up for a challenger rt as my first car. I know it’s not the fastest but for budget reasons I have my mind set on that. I’m fresh out of Highschool at the moment so the scat pack can come in the future!
Trading mine in tomorrow major upgrade for me... no more hemi v8 in production anymore..I had a v6 for 4 years don't get me wrong I loved it great car with power but again like I said it's time for that upgrade and going with 5.7 liter engine RT is more than enough power ...
The RT is amazing, but with the rising prices of gas (and the need for 89 octane for the 5.7L) it's really getting discouraging to me when shopping around for a V8 Challenger.
Being that I have a hemi dodge truck which I need cause I have a boat. Need a daily driver that is decent on long trips with fuel. SXT V6 is a good option for me
I have a v6 stx 100th anniversary edition slap on a exhaust ,80 mill hemi throttle body ,change the cool air intake mass air and out run a rt all day long and still have the same fuel and insurance cost that is cheap .later add on the ripp supercharger and run with scatpack.
I really want the v8 for the exhaust note but would love the AWD for the winter as I live in Ohio. I had a AWD Charger and the missing sound was a let down but liked the car. Now I was looking at the RT but all the videos and forums say the RT scat pack is the only way to go to really feel a power difference and isn't that much more than the RT. I dont know.
5.7 is more reliable. if you are a car guy you will want a v8 defiantly if you are modding your car or dragging it. if you just dont care about horse power or speed then get the v6 theres nothing wrong with that. its also a good choice for a teenagers first car. it will still look cool but the kid wont get themself killed drag racing.
Thanks for the insight!👍👍. I’m actually going thru this decision right now... whether to get the 3.6L Pentastar (2011) or the 5.7L Hemi (2006). My dealer that I get my cars has both of these for me to choose from; cost is the same. I like the styling of the 2011 better (& obviously 5yrs newer) but I think the 2006 may have a lot more to offer with the V8... I think maybe sacrificing those 5yrs may be worth it to get the V8...???
So you pay about an extra 10 grand for 70 more horse power , might as well wait for the scat pack, because you could get a nice cool air intake and a costume tune for less than a thousand dollars and be pushing the 400s hp on a 3.6 L v6 👍🏽
For me it’s not about speed. I don’t care how fast my car goes, I want the 5.7 because of the sound. If that sound was possible with the v6 I’d get it….and also the v6 doesn’t come in stick
When it comes to the sxt (I own a 2017 SXT plus) I was able to get my monthly insurance from geico for about $230/ month. Oddly enough, the previous car I had was a 4 cylinder 2007 Camry xD
Let me know guys do you think the V8 is worth the cost?
Yes it is
I haven't driven either version . But the V6 puts out 305hp and can get 30 mpg cruising down the highway. That sells it for me.
I'm happy with my 6 banger lol
I have a v6 SXT plus package and love love love it. The only time I wish I had a v8 is when faster cars challenge me to a duel. Other than that, my v6 gets compliments on a daily basis.
Me too! I love my SXT. I call her Black Beauty.
Me too a lady say she loved my V6 GT.
bro a duel, what is this magic the gathering.

Lol people going broke for a v8 just to speed to work and back home
Lmao…. Facts

To be real I seen a charger yesterday clean af no idea the engine size so unless you’re racing on a track are in a car club don’t think it matters
Yeah I agree with you. Stronger engine, and no regrets. Cost alittle more, but at least your not thinking I should of got the v8. 👽
lol SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK! I never heard anyone EVER say "damn, this is too much power, i should have gotten the V6"
This battle goes until you get a scatpack. RT will start to feel slow it has a v8 but averages 5 second 0-60 that’s not far off from the sxt

I agree. My GT is a really fun car that I can daily drive, it just doesn’t have the sound or insane horsepower

For a weekend warrior, rt or scat. Daily or road trip id say v6. If i could id get the v8, awd, and manual to check every box i need.

In the same boat (no pun intended) here. I went from a Chevy Cobalt to a Challenger R/T and the dealer even laughed and said "Big Leap, eh?" Haha
If you do have the v6 you can always turbo it....pretty much makes it a stock v8 in terms of power.
Twisted86 might as well buy a v8 or a scat if you paying for that
@@jrk1990 Not really, turbo is cheap enough and anyone with basic mechanical knowledge can install one. Plenty of videos out there as well.

The v6 1le Camaro is really appealing to me for a cheaper fun and casual track day cruiser
I drive an SXT Challenger, and yes, I wish I would have got the R/T. I still love mine, but the sound alone is worth the extra cost.

The AWD V6 is a great deal. It all depends on if you really want the V8. For me I only wanted the challenger for the V8.

worth it for the sound
If the v6 Challenger came with a stick I would’ve definitely got it
it's all down to sound :)
Guess ill just suck it up and save for the R/T then cause I know that the sound and looks will be worth it

I got a 2012 rs Camaro and it goes 150 mph and I can keep up with a rt challenger
I have a v6 and plan on supercharging it but I’ve beat a r/t and I love the sound of my modified exhaust (my only real performance mod)
To add to that I’ve owned both but gas is truly better on the v6
Stock for stock the R/T wins... I’m sure it was a drivers error on the R/T owners end.
I’ve beaten R/Ts in my 17 Ford Fusion eco boost.. but that’s because i know how to drive, plus it’s almost a thousand pounds lighter.
