  • There are many similarities when building a roll cage for a race truck or a race car. The main goal is to protect the passengers...everything after that is about speed and getting to the finish line. In part 3 of our Bend-Tech series we finish the rear of the chassis and get ready to cut tubes on the Dragon 400.

    Love the videos. I had the bend-tech software thrown in my lap a couple months ago and found your videos by accident when trying to figure how to operate it. Your videos are so well put together I was able to learn everything I needed off of them. Can't say thanks enough. Always excited to see what I'm about to learn next when a new video comes out. Keep it up!

    I gotta say, yes all your videos are good, but the cad videos are exceptional you have a knack for explaining your methods effortlessly. More educational than some actual cad tutorials.

    Great video! I’m working with all the same programs trying to design a cage and a arm suspension based off a vw bug pan and body. Going to be adapting your work to my project for sure, I appreciate all your hard work finding some of the short cuts I’ve been struggling with.

    Broke it down to make it not seem so daunting! Might even get me to buy the software just so I can help out my friends, Odds of me ever building my own truck are very slim.

    I really appreciate you doing these vids. So helpful with the learning process for me with bend tech and fusion 360 and fabrication in general. Any issues I’ve had I’ve been able to work out with your vids for the most part. I’m trying to build a Baja bug with A Arms. Still debating on a kit or a full custom build. Super close to buying a cnc plasma

      many thanks…I think you might like this video. ruclips.net/video/MpZ7ZoPkyC4/видео.html. For the money you save building your own, you can just about cover the cost of the CrossFire Pro.

    Looks killer!! If you had to do the cuts by hand how much time do you think it would be? Is there any service out there that can cut them for you?

    • @ntdracing
      @ntdracing  2 года назад +1

      I cut Honcho by hand. I was designing and cutting from July to November. This time I sat down and completed the entire design in CAD and took that to BendTech. I am working on the video for that now. We cut all the tubes in 3 hours. Amazing machine and software they make.
      I am not sure if anyone does this as a service. I think they may have a forum for BendTech where the question can be asked.

    When you bring the roll cage into Fusion 360 do you have to apply dimensions to it? Have you ever tried using the sheet metal function with the imported roll cage from Bend Tech?
    Not sure if this is possible but can you take parts from Fusion 360 and import them into Bend Tech?
    When your importing parts into Fusion 360 do most companies offer CAD files kinda like a rear end from Currie getting the CAD files to upload into Fusion 360?

    • @ntdracing
      @ntdracing  2 года назад +2

      I just import it. I find that the dimensions are all accurate. I have not used the sheet metal function. I have created new planes and sketched on those planes and extruded the panels I needed to plasma cut. Will show how I do that when I get to it in a few months.
      I think you can import from Fusion to BendTech…just have not tried it yet.

    For the software, would the Ez3D version work fine, or should I go with the pro-version.

    • @ntdracing
      @ntdracing  4 месяца назад +1

      It depends on what you need to do. The base software is the same, but you get more capability with each upgrade to their software.

      @@ntdracing I’ll be doing the same thing pretty much. But a cross kart instead. I saw they had the triple bundle, that’s looking to be the best so far. Wasn’t sure if you could get away with using the cheaper one.

    Does bendtech offer a service to cut tubes?

    • @ntdracing
      @ntdracing  2 года назад

      I do not think they do. We were just there and it seemed to me that they were laser focused on software and Dragon production, customer education and service. I am guessing that some of their customers would cut files as a business.
